Good location but way over priced
Very disappointed by this city centre hotel. Not a patch on the Shelbourne. Impressive foyer with "wavy" marble effect floor - watch your step! Our deluxe king size room wasn't fit for a queen. Smallest king ive ever been in. The bathroom was equally cramped.
The main dining room appeared open only at breakfast, the atrium closed at 5pm. The mint bar and restaurant in the basement was interesting architecturally but was cold and surrounded by sports TV. Staff didn't seem interested.
Impossible to park at the front of the hotel because of tram lines. Drop off point at side was found by chance, we unloaded our bags in the rain and dragged them round to the front. The valet parker said he'd seen us on cctv. And valet parking was expensive
Won't be staying at Marriott again
Had a great experience taking our tour with Alan! He was very informative and created wonderful conversation. I will definitely reach out to him in the future for more experiences! 😁
This hotel is very much a mixed bag. Normally I like Autograph hotel brand but this one is less "design" than many of the other ones. The hotel was full therefore no upgrade as Bonvoy Ambassador Elite. That said, in terms of no upgrade this is about as good as it gets. Nowadays some hotels dare to call rooms which look like junior suites at best, and make them to be "premium suites". Here it is the opposite. They said some standard rooms are bigger than others and would fit a rollaway bed. The room we received was kind of a suite, not even a junior suite. The living room had no window so it is not a nice room to spend some time in, but it's a suite nonetheless. So if that's the "no upgrade" then it's not too bad. The view from the bedroom was the hotel atrium, not outdoors, so also a negative but at least we were on the top floor and the ceiling was glass so we could get some natural light. The welcome gift was generous with wine and snacks.
Breakfast was not the highlight - I had to queue not once, but twice. First time at 8:30am when I went there to get cappuccino takeaway while waiting for the family to be ready. Then we went for breakfast at 9:30am and still a queue. The restaurant dark and crowded, not enjoyable. Queues at the entrance of a restaurant are not great for a hotel trying to present itself as five stars.
Service in the hotel was also questionable. Upon arrival 12:00pm for check-in they said room not ready and no idea when it will be. I did not push it, we went for a walk. Back at 2pm same story: room not ready and no idea when. I asked if housekeeping is cleaning the room as we speak, or the guests have not checked out yet? They said there is no way to know. I said tell me the room number and I will go check myself. I wanted to know because our young daughter needed to nap so I would have accepted the less desirable room (too small for rollaway) if we had to wait 2+ hours more. Finally the duty manager came 15 minutes later with keys and apologized for the misunderstanding. After check-out they also charged me 4 EUR for a phantom mini-bar item which we did not take - another sign of a hotel which is not exactly a well-oiled machine.
This hotel is often 400-700 EUR per night so it's a luxury price tag without the luxury experience. All in all, I am in no rush to come back despite the wonderful location in the city.
We think you’ll enjoy this hotel. Why? The location is terrific. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Housekeeping keeps rooms in great shape. The Mint in the basement is a wonderful place for food and drink. We stayed 3 nights and found our room with one queen bed very tight and asked for a room change. This request was granted the next day and we were very pleased with our second room. All in all, a lovely stay
Locatie is goed
Dublin location is central and excellent. Hotel is very clean and staff is excellent. The house cleaning staff really excel. Also the concierge went above and beyond to book restaurant reservations for us. Jolanda at the front desk was lovely and helpful.
We ended up with an atrium view which was odd and unexpected. There is natural light that comes in. but essentially it doesn't feel that private. If you are a tall person, I would request an outside view room. There are parts of these room that have lower headroom including the bathroom.
Also the AC in our room was mediocre. Either because of the placement of the vents and the shape of the room or the system itself, most of the room remained warmish while the sitting area got cool-ish. I did call down to get it serviced.
Just as an FYI, there are no proper outlets in the bathroom in the atrium room. If you are doing your hair, you have to plug in the hair dryer or other tools outside. Some sort of vanity set up would be helpful.
My only other complaint is that our bed was OK. I am used to staying in Marriott beds that are indeed heavenly. This did not meet that standard.
Overall great location and comfortable stay with room for improvement.
A May Birthday gift to me from hubby. We stayed in this fantastic venue, . one of the most upscale in Dublin. Everything was beyond good. Suberb location. Well pleased
Great location in Dublin. The hotel and staff were amazing. Make sure you go to the Mint Bar located in the basement and ask for Clara. She is the best
The college green hotel (formerly Westin Dublin) is a storied luxury hotel in a fantastic central location just steps from key sights like Temple bar and Trinity University. Our king deluxe room on the fourth floor had all the modern features including bedside power and a sleek marble bathroom with both a tub and separate shower. Our room rate (€700) for a one night stay in early June included breakfast. The room was fairly quiet and very clean.
We rented a car for the rest of our trip around Ireland so reserved parking ahead of time through the concierge. The ever so friendly Bell Captain, Stephen, met us at the front and directed us just around the building corner where he took care of the car for us. Couldn’t have been easier.
The staff were amazing, so kind and do helpful, the room was so fabulous, it was so spacious and comfortable.
I went to The College Green Hotel for an afternoon tea with my mam. The experience was nothing short of 5 stars! The team in Atrium Lounge were very welcoming and attentive, and Evelina who took care of us was particularly lovely - she was so welcoming and warm. Not to mention that the food was incredible.
Our room overlooked the center courtyard where there was a restaurant so the windows did not open. Who wants that for a view. Worse, the temperatures outside were in the 70's and the room was very warm. Unable to open a window for some cool night air, we asked the desk to check our air conditioning which was not working the relieve the warm, stuffiness of our room. We were told that as it was an old building the a/c didn't work very well. But, they sent us a fan. Really? A hotel at this price gives you a fan?
The only pro I have is that this hotel is in a great location in the city.
The staff
Corridors were very hot
The location
Small room
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Dublin and extremely walkable to landmarks and restaurants.
Excellent hotel in every way. Great location. Close to everything we wanted to see. It is an oasis of quiet elegance in a bustling city. The staff are so friendly and helpful. No need went unmet!
Our room was lovely with a beautiful tea set up. It was well worth the points we used to stay and I would not think of staying anywhere else if we ever return to Dublin.
