Excellent staff. Clean rooms. Unique. Nice lobby/bar. Very good food.
No closet in the room.
Comfortable mattress
Loud, noisy, thin walls
Very quaint!
No coffee maker or microwave in the room.
Loved the decor and facilities overall. The record player in the room was an amazing touch, and the coffee was delicious. We also had a margarita and it was great. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed El Caminante’s well-done Spanish revival style, and proximity to the beach (just across the street). The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the staff is friendly. The rooms are small but priced fairly. The bar and food are a delight. On the down side, the TV in my room did not work. I let a staff member know, but no one showed up to fix it. And housekeeping did not show up to clean my room.
We stayed here for two nights over Thanksgiving, same as last year. Last year we had the upstairs room in the front which was small and had no balcony and at least last year controlled the heat/a/c for the suite down the hall. When booking for this year I said I didn't want the tiny room upstairs but one of the rooms with the nice patio. We got the nice patio which we thoroughly enjoyed but the room was so tiny it was ridiculous. We estimated it to be under 200 sq. ft with a king size bed smack in the middle of the room with dangerously little space to move around the bed. Neither of us are over-weight and really don't believe someone obese could move, particularly on one side. That was my side of the bed and I had to be very careful to not trip over the wires in the middle of the night. There is an old record player in the room which may be cute but the room really can't handle anything useless. Other than a bench at the foot of the bed, there was no chair, no drawers and no closet. The hotel and certainly the guests would far better served to move the bed to one of the walls which would afford a little more space. The first room they attempted to put is in was attached to another room and it was not possible to lock the door between the rooms, nor would the flimsy window coverings work. Same problem as last year, actually. The bed is very comfortable and the room was clean. We had ten people there one night for drinks and food and that was great except they were severely short of staff and had other large parties as well. I'm disappointed at myself that I failed to get the gal's name who not only helped (and moved us) with the room issues but waited on us that night. She was above and beyond awesome and if I would be a competitor I'd have been recruiting her! The maids were very pleasant and excellent. The young man on breakfast duty both days was lacking motivation but pleasant. We noticed a big difference between our stay last year and this year. While neither year were we happy with the room size, at least last year they had at least twice the employees who were happy and helpful. This year, it seems like they're working on a budget shortage. The best thing is the location. Walk across the street and you're on the sand and the parking is free.
Charming and historic property with clean and comfy accomodations. Shout out to Branden for making our stay an enjoyable experience from the time we arrived until our departure. Thank you Brandon, we shall return soon!! Also, Jose was the best and assisted us during our stay - super nice and friendly. Not so sure about the female bartender/barista, maybe she was having a personal bad day.
Location on the beach
Understaffed, workers didn’t show up causing to coffee or food in am Awkward King bed position in very middle of the room - like an island that you walked around….
There should be a coffee maker in each room. The coffee at the bar didn’t serve until 7 and it was horrible. Breakfast was average. The train noise is very loud. Worst was i was working vacation no wifi the entire trip. So i had to roam my own from canada. The manager promised a $100 credit never happened and now not returning emails
Rooms were tasteful and view nice. We loved the bikes
Very good breakfast ;
Many very nice appearing hotels along this stretch of PCH. All have some highway noise and train noise . Have to wanna distance to cross over the highway and tracks to get to beach . Rooms charming !
Finding myself in Capo Beach for a night, I landed at the newly named and rehabbed El Caminante. Located oceanside, with private, furnished patios for first floor rooms including chiminea, and small, yet well-outfitted rooms with incredible attention to detail in its remodel. They serve simple fare along with cocktails at the oceanfront patio, and quiet patio at the rear. Even a few EBikes for guest use! Super chill environment; was glad to enjoy it.
What a gem! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience - friendly staff, beautiful property, comfortable room with great character. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Location was perfect for me and the walk on the beach was refreshing. Highly recommend!
We had a great experience at El Caminante! The location is excellent and only steps away from the sand. The renovated and refurbished interior and exterior are clean and new, but they keep the vintage Spanish character of the original. Customer service was on point and our breakfast quesadillas were delicious! Highly recommend.
We stayed here for a few nights before our wedding and I could not picture a more perfect place!
The staff is exceptional. The grounds are beautiful. And the location is unbeatable. The food and drinks are amazing. Everything about this place is a 10/10. Definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!!!
