Cleanliness
Very expensive breakfast at 25 euros, also room prices very high on Friday
Large comfy bed and room, quiet hotel, friendly staff
I have stayed in this wonderful place more than once and will definitely come back again.
It’s amazing that it is within walking distance of a transport hub, yet it is completely quiet.
From the window you can see a cozy courtyard, and instead of traffic noise you hear birds singing.
The cleanliness is always at a very high level.
The staff are very pleasant and attentive.
The café at the hotel has a very cozy atmosphere, and a real fireplace creates a special feeling of comfort. It is also within walking distance of Oscar Wilde Park.
In the morning it’s always a little hard to leave — every time I find myself looking for a reason to stay a bit longer.
Great property, beautiful rooms, great staff and a wonderful location. I love Ballsbridge and the property was well situated there!!
It was relaxing was excellent and the service was
Great location for a Bord Gais concert, only 10 mins walk up the road. The history was great and the restaurant was very cosy and rustic. Restaurant staff were spot on, easygoing and very accommodating, 5 stars for them!
Loved the chalkboard at the entrance but would have liked to see the schoolhouse theme throughout the rooms and halls, but overall bedroom styling was lovely too.
Only downside to the restaurant was the food options, would have liked to see another steak option like ribeye. I ordered the fish and I thought it was too salty.
The check in receptionist seemed a little off with my husband, he thought she wasn’t as approachable or welcoming as we would have liked. Even checking out, he left earlier than me and he said he looked up to say hello, the 3 staff members just looked at him and didn’t say anything. He was surprised by this.
Location
Contacted reception at 17.00 for meal they said it would take an hour and a half. Arrived back to find bar shut at 23.00. Despite paying over £350 no breakfast included. Looks nice but cold reception. Avoid
The location is excellent - you can easily walk to the historic center of Dublin and to stadium/concert venues (which is how I first found the hotel). There is also a DART station close to the hotel. The rooms are comfortable and larger than you might anticipate at first glance. I love the history of the property and the respectful way it has been updated. The gastropub is beautiful and the service is great.
I know this is nitpicking, but I have found when traveling in Europe over the last year I have found it very difficult to find news programs on television; I realize this may be because I have chosen to stay at smaller properties. It is annoying to have to set up YouTube, Netflix, Google every time I turn on the television just to find out what is happening around you and what the weather will be the next day or to relax.
Great historical old school house, lots of character.
The only downside was that the shower had not water pressure. Bed was very comfortable.
Location was great, dinner was excellent
This should be a 3 star hotel, hotel was old fashioned and a bit run down
