Average hotel - look over your bill carefully at checkout
Pros:

I stayed here one night in May with my husband. Hotel is definitely dated but it was clean. Nice variety at breakfast. The hairdryer was outside the bathroom at the 2 nd sink. The cord is not long enough to reach into the bathroom. Unfortunately for my husband he needed to hear the hairdryer which was not far from the bed. Odd placement choice I feel. Hotel served its purpose for us.

Reason for the 3 stars was check out. I had a $50 off our next Best Western stay that I intended to use for this trip. This was a main reason of why I picked this hotel. When I did the booking online I put in all the information for the $50 off. When I checked into the hotel, I mentioned this to the gentleman behind the desk and he said that everything was fine. When I checked out the next day when I looked at the bill as I was walking out the door towards my car. I noticed the $50 was not taken off any longer. We went back to the front desk and there was a different gentleman there that morning. He said that I did not have the $50 off and that I needed proof to show him. I had told him that I put all the information on when I booked, but he did not want to hear that. He was really giving me a hard time. Luckily I just stood there and went through all the photos on my phone because I like to take screenshots of everything just in case. Sure enough I had pictures of everything that I was able to show him. He did apologize, but it left a very bad impression as he made me feel like I was trying to get away with something.

Not right in Portland but just the right distance.
Pros:

Maria at the front desk is the best. The check-in/check-out was sobeasy and quick. Be sure to ask Maria for some suggestions of what to do and where to go!
This is a pretty hotel and very clean. The hot tub and kiddie pool is inside and then the larger pool is outside.
They had a full and tasty breakfast each morning.

Good place to stay for a concert at Thompson's Point
Pros:

Free parking, free coffee in the lobby, close to Thompson's point, free breakfast, although it was crowded.

Cons:

The place was dated, could use a refresh. No towels available down by the hot tub / pool.

ok
Pros:

good to offer breakfast, we missed your nice restaurant though. Last time we stayed there, we had a great meal

Cons:

the place needs some much needed updates, our ceiling could use a coat of paint, it was dusty from the air conditioning, bathroom shower and vent was very old

Ok for price
Pros:

The rooms have not been updated since roughly 2000. The air-conditioning unit was very loud and it felt like the bed was vibrating based on the air-conditioning units high fan speed. All of that said, I would recommend if you are looking for a reasonable hotel to stay in for a few nights.

Amazing hotel & pool, but sadly horrible tub drain!
Pros:

The swimming pool was amazing, and the staff were very helpful; they gave detailed information about the property and amenities, and they made us feel very welcome.

Cons:

Although our room was clean and comfortable, the shower was awful. The caulking around the tub was moldy, and the drain didn’t work well. The tub slowly filled with water as I showered, and I can’t stand having filthy water from the drain around my ankles. Since we only stayed one night, it wouldn’t have helped us to complain, but I really hate poor drains in hotels!

Great amenities, Great Location, Excellent Staff
Pros:

The Best Western Merry Manor is in an excellent location and has several amenities including a great breakfast, a gym, a heated pool and a hot tub. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay in Portland and it was helpful that we could easily reach both Cape Elizabeth and the downtown area. The history of Portland as a port city is fascinating. We also had the opportunity to visit Peaks Island and ride bikes around the island. My only suggestion is to carefully research parking in the downtown area; it is quite costly. We finally found an outdoor lot that was $25 for a full day near the ferries. Another good in-door lot is on Elm Street(near the library), but they were closed onSunday. I would recommend this Best Western for your next vacation. Some good places to eat were Rodeo (Mexican food), the Tavern near by had great lightly fried haddock.
