Citadines Toison d'Or Brussels

The pictures online do not reflect this hotel for a second! A receptionist who had no interest in us. I had to inform him we had breakfast included and his answer was yes you do, after checking, then told me it was on the right. The room was set for a twin, I returned and asked for a king, no, that is the last apartment I have and housekeeping is closed. In essence, not my problem and get on with it. I had to ask for the hotel WiFi, which is weak and you cannot work from the apartment. A location for dinner, yes, outside, right and right. That is the recommendation? As for the condition of the room, broken wood, missing skirting, sharp edges on the wardrobe doors, mould in the shower grouting and of course to top that all off, CONSTRUCTION outside the window! Completely completely unnacceptable. We arrived at 9pm and I had my family check-out the next day, because I was not prepared to have my family stay for the full length of our booking in that condition.

Good value for money overall: good location.

The hotel lobby had been recently renovated so when you walked in the place was stunning. The rooms on the other hand are a bit dated. Clean and fine for staying in but nothing fancy. Staff were fantastic and super helpful. There is a great supermarket just 30 seconds away and a few nice restaurants for breakfast/tea. The location is at the top of the Brussels city hill walking into the centre takes about 20-25 mins stroll down hill but the return is a little bit of a slog uphill so be prepared, nothing too hard but noteworthy. Local tram and underground stations very close 2-3 min walk. Overall good place, good price

We had a wonderful stay at this place. We were traveling as a family and this place was perfect. We had a two story room which gave us enough room to spread out.
Room was clean, and so was the bathroom. There was a grocery store very nearby to get few items of daily use.
They had few dishes and an everything you need in a kitchen which was perfect to heat and eat our leftovers. The town center was close by and we found it was nice to walk back to the hotel after a heavy dinner.
Great place if you are looking to stay as a family.

The downstairs lobby was nice and location was good but the rooms were old and dated and didn’t feel clean. The bathroom shower was very small

I like the area. They used to have free coffee and water. not any longer.

The room we had was suppose to be a one bedroom with a sitting area side by side as shown in the picture. This was clearly photoshopped. When we arrived, the sitting room was on the main floor but the bedroom and the bathroom were on a second floor with very narrow steps. This meant that you had to take your luggage up these steps. We had one member of our party not to be able to climb steps. So that meant they could not sleep in a bed nor use the bathroom upstairs. Imagine taking a kitchen sink bath. Not happy about this when not fully disclosed!!! The front staff was rude. One lady was great at giving the stink eye when you asked her for anything. We really did try to not interact with the staff. Also, if you want AC, don’t stay here.

Doors didn’t lock properly, no air conditioning, doors couldn’t close, dirty amenities(towels were not clean), bathroom vent didn’t work

The attention was very cordial, the room was very clean and complete with everything necessary for a confirmable stay. I would surely choose it again.

They never offer to help. Anything we asked: "i do not know, it's not sure, there is none (false statement). Hotel that needs a lot of care. The crew needs to learn how to smile and welcome travellers. Mind you, we arrived on a Sunday obviously to be checked in by someone who does like to work on weekend. The worst Citadines ever!

The rooms have no AC. We needed to have the windows open at night to have a comfortable sleeping temperature, but noise on the busy street below us, we were on the 6 floor, was incredible. Constant sirens yelling, motorbikes racing and night work on the underpass. Hard to sleep. Can not recommend this property. Wonder how hot the rooms will be in the summer.

The property is in a good location and clean. However, no complimentary tea/coffee was offered in the rooms and no water bottles either. This is usually offered everywhere I’ve stayed before.

There is no air con in the room either which I felt was really needed at night.

The bath/shower products offered in the room had a very strong, unpleasant smell which may not be up to everyone’s liking.

Central location, staff were friendly, lots nearby and easy to travel via metro
