Stayed for a week in a standard room, all inclusive. Didn’t opt for the level and glad we didn’t (only added perks seem to be use of a smaller, more overlooked pool and access to a different breakfast area)
Great stay, friendly staff, food was nice but bits of food were often cold which was disappointing.
A more detailed review for those like myself who read a lot of reviews before booking:
Location - brilliant. Views are amazing, short walk to the beach (easier to walk there than back as the return is up hill but no issue for us but may be a struggle for some). 24 hour shop right at the bottom of the hill also.
Staff - really friendly. Some members of staff were so friendly and added to the experience.
Food - the variety is brilliant. Different themes each night. However, there were always some items that were cold. For example at brekkie, the sausages would be warm but the eggs cold and the next day the eggs warm and hash browns cold etc. Such a shame and really think the hotel should look at ways of keeping the food hotter and maybe have some microwaves around.
Drinks - absolutely brilliant. Next level really when it comes to all inclusive drinks. Stayed AI before where drinks are served in rubbish plastic cups but the glassware and plastic glassware for around the pool, quality of the cocktails and variety of flavours on offer are brilliant. Service was quite slow on the poolside bar though and there was always a queue.
The hotel itself - lovely hotel, room was great and spacious. Never stayed somewhere where you have to pay to stay all inclusive on your last day though which was a shame as we were delayed on way out and didn’t arrive til midnight so didn’t use AI at all on our first day but this didn’t seem to matter and we had to pay regardless to use it for an extra four hours.
Overall, would defo stay here again but hope the hotel looks at improving the heat of the food and the queues on the bars and toilets (only one ladies toilet at the pool but four men’s?)
Just had an amazing week at this hotel. First class and could not fault it. Food amazing and all the staff so helpful. We stayed in room 216 which was a gorgeous spacious suite. Would like to mention Alice on reception who helped us with many questions over the week and also helped us get a late check out on our last day. Alice was very professional and went above and beyond.
Not 5 star
Had a suite room and had to repeatedly ask for water and tea replenishment for our room. Definitely not 5 star service.
Location was fine except the hill to climb back up if went for a walk.
Good atmosphere. Room was brilliant and value for money.
Spotlessly clean especially level pool bottom pool not so as lots of leaves etc in didn’t look inviting.
Noise level no issues. Relaxing.
Service good. Only downside was buffet food wasn’t warm
Fabulous 10 days at the Melia Jardines. Hotel is clean, spacious and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Breakfast choice brilliant. Our room was so spacious with plenty of storage and beds really comfortable. Entertainment and activities great. Set in lovely gardens as the name suggests with plenty of sitting areas and water features. The hotel is situated on a hill with spectacular views, and yes a bit of a walk back up from Adeje centre but well worth the walk down for great restaurants if you're not eating in the hotel. And taxis back only 7 euros.
And special thanks to our housekeeper Jenny who was so friendly and attentive and to Silvia for her lovely words and special surprise on my birthday. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Just wonderful.
A superb Melia hotel in Playa Del Duque. The facilities, the food and particularly the staff are fabulous, thoroughly recommend. We will definitely be going back.
Bien
Tener más cafeteras en el desayuno
We were a large group travelling to celebrate an up coming wedding, 30 people over the course of a week. The hotel staff could not do enough to facilitate us. The buffet had plenty to choose from and food was hot (not always the case in an all inclusive). Every single member of staff was friendly - they really make this hotel what it is, especially the pool bar staff, who were particularly helpful in carrying multiple drinks over to us every day and with a big smile on their faces. All rooms were of a good size and comfortable. Yes there are a lot of steps around being as it is built on a hillside, but there are lifts and they were quick to arrive and never busy. Plenty of unreserved sunbeds round the pool. All in all a fabulous hotel and one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
We are on our last day here and would highly recommend it the staff are so attentive and there is so much to choose from at the buffet restaurant. We are staying in the level pool access room which we would definitely choose again.
Only down side was the weather but that’s just how it is all in all an excellent stay we will definitely be back.
Bella struttura
Isolata su una collina ventosa
Piscina climatizzata ma non è vero ! È fredda
Great hotel with friendly staff. Very clean, quiet and well presented. The buffet was good for lunch, but the two a la carte restaurants were necessary. The location was great for the views but it was a long hilly walk back up from the sea. Good value break.
I booked this hotel as I like a rustic-looking, rather than glossy setting and it did not disappoint. The decor and architecture is lovely, and the views are insane! I also like a hotel where you can get the mileage in and this one didn’t disappoint, I was covering a couple of miles a day just from getting around, room to breakfast, room to pool, pool to lunch etc and the stairs were a bonus adding extra fitness opportunities. I also liked that it was set back from the main area, giving it more tranquility. I walked to the sea most days, around 1.5 miles there and back. The hill on the return was manageable if you’re able-bodied. The area Playa del Duque was nice and classy. I also walked to La Caleta which was quite charming, and Fanabe which was not my scene (think Blackpool in the sun). So although the hotel is tranquil it’s certainly not isolated if you like walking.
I booked the early flight hoping for the first afternoon in the sun, though was disappointed to find that I couldn’t check in til 3pm. My mistake for not checking and assuming it would be 1pm. I had some lunch and a walk around to get my bearings but it wasn’t great still being in travelling clothes. Next time I’d get a few more hours sleep and book the later flight. I had been allocated room 325 and during the wait I headed to check out its location. I was gutted to see it was the dreaded room with the metal fence outside the terrace which I’d seen on here. I went back to reception and begged them to consider an alternative when it was time to check in, which they did. I had room 216 which was absolutely perfect. Almost half way between the pool and the restaurant, nobody could see in to the room which was handy for getting ready or general privacy, and the terrace was nice overlooking the central courtyard/ walkway to the side. I was so grateful they changed the room. I wasn’t offered a welcome drink and I saw people were, bit odd but not a major problem.
The food was generally good, always found something to eat and I liked the setting in the Mosaico buffet restaurant with inside and outside seating options. It’s true that it can feel loud and busy, but you just need to work out the quieter times to go. 8-8.30am for breakfast, later lunch, later dinner worked for me. I didn’t bother using the 1 included trip to the Italian a la carte, I didn’t find the Italian food in the buffet very good (overcooked pasta, overly sweet sauces and stodgy pizza) plus I preferred the buffet with the salad bar. The desserts were mostly good and lovely fruit and ice cream available each sitting. I feel like the dessert selection declined as the week went on, maybe different staffing. Breakfast was good, I wished that there was an omelette show cooking option, I have never seen that missed from a hotel of this rating. The ready-done omelettes were plain with no filling and occasionally dry. Overall though, I never went hungry and ate very well. The stand outs were freshly cooked-to-order prawns, the beef stew on Italian night, and the food on the Mexican night. The pool food in grab and go wasn’t great, plain looking sandwiches with cheap white bread and last nights’ leftover salad bowls, with melon or pastries. I usually went up for a proper lunch.
The activities programme was one of my main reasons for booking. I enjoyed the jewellery workshop, soap workshop and candle workshop, tai chi, stretching, restorative yoga and aqua gym / fitness. I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a tranquil class each day (such as yoga) as I usually do this daily when I’m on holiday. There was a strong focus on more active classes (cycling etc) which I find a bit odd as there’s a 24h access gym to get in your fitness. It would put me off returning as I really missed my daily yoga.
A big shout out to the staff, Fernando in fitness, Alberto, Beatriz, Jesus and Olga in the pool bar, Morena, Paula and Ethan in Mosaico, and Karim in the Retama bar. All of the team are lovely, these were just some stand outs for me. Thanks Melia Jardines for a great holiday!
Everything was great! I was there for a special occasion and the staff paid attention to every detail, it was amazing!
we stayed at this hotel twice now , rooms , clean spacious , level amazing , staff friendly , best hotel in tenerife , location great bus service to beach front
Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
I visited this hotel back in 2022 and deemed it the best in Tenerife. Returning in April 2026 for my honeymoon, I’m torn. While the cleaning staff are doing a fantastic job, the service, food safety, and management have gone downhill massively.
The Positives & Travel Tips
Housekeeping (10/10): I am a cleaner for a living, so I have very high standards. Our room was immaculate every single day. The room also had a lovely, nice-sized balcony.
I must add though on the last morning at 9am we had housekeeping knocking and coming into our room and we tried to communicate with them that we wouldn't be checking out till nearer the 12pm mark because we have a late flight I don't understand why they were knocking and coming in when we hadn't checked out yet
Pool Area: The area was tidy and there were no "sunbed wars." However, the sunbeds themselves really need an upgrade as they are quite grubby also must add there isn't handle bars going into the pool at step areas so if you are unsteady on your feet you'd have the walk to ramp area for stability
Monkey Park Tip: If you are going to Monkey Park, get the bus and walk the last 15 minutes. Have your wits about you and keep to the side of the road, but you will save around €70 compared to a taxi!
Shopping Tip: Use the "Dinos" supermarket (10-min walk). Don't be fooled by the 24-hour one nearby; walk another 5 minutes further for much cheaper prices.
⚠️ Serious Food Safety & Dining Issues
The kitchen and service standards are where the hotel fails:
Dangerous Meat: On Indian Night, the chicken skewers were raw. On Mexican Night, the taco meat was visibly pink mince. My partner’s steak was served "blue" when they asked for rare.
Dining Service: Drinks orders were taken halfway through our meal or we had to flag someone down. Often, I was finished eating by the time the drink arrived.
Breakfast: We arrived at 8:30 AM every day and the food was cold every single morning and this is only half an hour after opening
The food is nothing like it was back when I last visited I actually feel embarrassed how much I hyped this hotel to be to my new husband and it wasn't what I expected
Facilities & Service Letdowns
Entertainment Seating: On popular music nights, like the rock band, if you aren't seated by 7:30 PM, you aren't getting a seat.
The Bar: The refurbishment moved the bar and made it much smaller. In 2023, the cocktails were 10/10. Now, they are just basic drinks with ice and you’ll queue for ages. Note: They don't accept cash at the bar.
Honeymoon & Staff: Despite booking months in advance/mentioning it was our honeymoon and told by email twice there would be something special for us arriving, we arrived to an empty room. I do admit I did go down to reception and ask as we were disappointed and they did give us champagne and fruit the next day which we are grateful for but takes away what could have been a lovely surprise on arrival I felt embarrassed having to ask but this is a special moment in our lives.
When the lifeguard was missing from the towel station, reception actually told us off for not dealing with them—we would have if they were actually there!
Power Cut: On the hottest day, the power went out and the bar stopped serving drinks entirely
On our arrival night we missed dinner by 10 mins and on our last day we left at half 5 missing dinner when I mentioned this to reception I asked if we could do lunch on last day instead and they agreed which was great. It might not be like this for everyone though! I must admit though communication between reception and dining room wasn't efficient I had to explain when entering for lunch as our room number didn't work on IPad as reception said again embarrassing.
The housekeeping team are the stars here, but the management and kitchen are letting them down. I am sure the hotel will reply with plenty of excuses, but as a returning guest who once loved this place, these are my honest views. Between the raw food and lack of basic hospitality, I can no longer say this is the best in Tenerife. It is a shadow of its 2022 self.
The best part of this hotel for me is churros for breakfast 🍳🤣🤭
Hotel staff and views where lovely, clean and friendly hotel, room with views was lovely but basic inside for 5 star
Downside was we went all inclusive and you basically only get buffet restaurant included the 2 other restaurants you get 50% off and the other one you have to stay 5 nights or more to get 1 free meal. Water was only provided in your room on the first night which I thought was a bit bad but I was able to pick up small bottles of water at pool and bring to room , I also emailed the hotel before staying to mention it was our special birthdays both becoming 50 but nothing was mentioned or done just a little touch from hotel would have been nice, on check in we got there early but room was not ready and they told us to return back at 3 which was a shame as most places I’ve been have had room ready but it states 3.
You can walk down to the beach around 10-12 min walk but hilly so wouldn’t be great for anyone with mobility issues
Overall great stay and the staff in lounge bar where so happy and so so nice they made our stay shout out to Jonathon and valentina they were just great every night always happy absolutely lovely to see and be apart off, entertainment every night which was also good. Yes we definitely would go back
