It was a very bad experience. I requested a non-smoking room and it was a room that smelled of cigarettes, and the entire area was for smokers. The reception staff was also unfriendly. It was a very bad experience.
Home away from home
Nothing at this time
Very cozy place. Stayed several times while in that area. We would keep coming back.
It always feels like home. We were coming back for surgery for a second time since November. The front desk remembered us which was not expected.
My husband likes the room extremely warm and the night attendant, Chris, truly went out of his way with extra blankets and said we can try this and that. It worked! and it was a comfortable 75 degrees.
The next morning, after surgery, my husband wasn’t up to walking downstairs for breakfast. I went downstairs myself and made plates but thought I couldn’t carry it without spilling the food. I asked the breakfast attendant if he had a tray I could borrow he said yes and even said he could follow me with a cart if I preferred. When I said the tray can work and I’ll bring it back down. He smiled and said just leave it in the room and housekeeping brings it back! Wow!
Not a thing.
Very clean and nice furnishings.
Can’t think of anything.
Breakfast was great and the spa hot tub and the jetted tub
Little pricey
Very friendly staff, great breakfast
Location
Location. Clean and comfortable. Full continental breakfast
No complaints to note
We love the Best Western White House and have stayed there several times during the past few years. Great location with Dysarts Restaurant next door! Presidential Wives on display are wonderful. Breakfast options are outstanding. Everything is clean and welcoming, from the front doors to the individual rooms.
We think that our one objection might be the result of our using Booking.com to reserve our room. We have twice been placed on the third floor - by far not our favorite location. Third floor is always hot, hallways and rooms alike, even with the AC on. Also, the rooms ceilings in the rooms reflect the roofline, so it's quite easy to bump one's head on the ceiling in the area of the table and chairs.
Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Many staff members were nice. The spa was overall very pleasant.
There was a used bandaid next to the hot tub. There were more troubles ahead in our room, 312. A genital hair was on the bathroom floor, conspicuously located. The bed spread had a disgusting stain on it (picture available). The tub was dirty, possibly because the drain was backed up. When we reported the problem multiple times, it was never addressed. Finally, in discussing this with a man at the front desk, he was willing to give a discount, which was unexpected, but welcome. However, when he discovered that we had used a third party (booking.com), and he couldn't therefore give us the discount, he became agitated, to the point of raising his voice and pointing his finger in our faces and directing his frustration at us. We weren't demanding a discount, so we didn't argue with him to receive one. He refused to give us a receipt (again over the third party). We felt like he was reprimanding us, despite the fact that our needs were not met by the hotel.
Breakfast was excellent. Quick drive from airport after traveling all day before heading to Acadia. Reommend!
This is a clever White House themed hotel that exceeded our expectations. From the kind hearted pumpkin judging contest in the lobby being used to benefit a local hospital, the fun Halloween decorations, to the amazing staff and best breakfast offered along with our room rate that I have ever had, this hotel is just an amazing place to stay. I hope I will have another chance to stay here again one day.
