Pros:

Location, staff (except manager), cleanliness, comfort, was great. Easy check in, great dining room and breakfast, pillows were the best!

Cons:

The manager was rude and lied to us when we asked to check out early, he said that he could not check us out early because we bnooked through booking.com, so he left the reservation open until the next day. He told us to call and work it out with them, and booking.com actually called the property, spoke to the manager to ask if he would approve us ch3ecking out a day early, and he said no. So we called him back to talk to him about this and he said that because we got a cheaper rate through booking.com he was not going to allow the check out. We absolutely loved everything else about this hotel except the way we were treated by him, specifically on our last day there when we had our initial conversation. All the other staff were very nice.

Happy with my stay at Middletown.
Pros:

James was notably very concerned with keeping the breakfast area clean and stocked. He also was observant of a need for soft butter and took care of the issue. The other staff were also friendly and helpful. It was reasonably priced and located close to Newport.

Great hotel with amazing staff
Pros:

Perfect overnight stay with my bus group this past Sunday 12/7-12/8 2025. Once again just like our stay in December 2024 everything was spot on. This hotel offers an amazing location close to everything Newport offers, but it is really the staff that makes it ‘THE ‘ place to stay in this area. They provide impeccable customer service across the board …. front desk, baggage handling, housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast room staff. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable beds, more then enough breakfast choices and the new 24/7 coffee machine was a delight.

It’s rare in the post Covid world to find a hotel that takes such pride in their accommodations. Kudos to the staff … GM Joe, Ted, Menard, Povick, Amy, Russell and Emee. A special shout out to Amy for answering all my questions and sharing her knowledge of the area for our future tours in the area. Happy Holidays to everyone at Holiday Inn Express Middletown,RI. Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2026!
