Very good and very clean

I stayed at this hotel for one night after booking through Expedia. A few days after my stay, I noticed an unexpected $50 charge on my credit card. I had not caused any damage, used any extra services, or been informed of any additional fees.

I called the hotel to ask about the charge. The employee I spoke with told me that they normally would not charge something like that and could not explain why it had happened. She said she would speak with a manager and get back to me regarding a refund.

Unfortunately, I never received a call, email, or any follow-up. What upsets me most is not only the unexplained charge, but the lack of communication and customer service afterward.

Mistakes can happen, but when a guest contacts a hotel about an unexpected charge, the issue should be investigated and resolved promptly. I am very disappointed with how this situation was handled and hope the hotel improves its customer service and billing practices in the future.

We have stayed here several times when visiting Newport, and we have always had a very pleasant stay. Our recent two-night stay was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable and the location is convenient. The included breakfast and the free parking are a real plus as well. We have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I am a coffee and tea person, so the 24-hour availability of coffee , tea, (and hot chocolate ) in the breakfast area is very appealing to me! The air conditioning in our room worked great and everything in our room was in order. The pool and gym are also well-kept, although we didn’t use them during this trip.

For anyone coming here for the first time, note that the hotel provides Dove shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in pumps in the shower, and Dove hand wash and body lotion in pumps by the bathroom sink. There is also a hair dryer in the bathroom, and an iron and ironing board and safe in the freestanding closet.

When we visit Newport, where we are out and about all day visiting the mansions or walking the Cliff Walk, and where even the reasonably-priced restaurants are expensive, all we want is a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay that doesn’t break the bank. This is a great choice. It is also is a very busy hotel with many military guests, and, while I know they have remodeled and upgraded over the years, I can see that the carpeting is looking tired, which is really the only negative I can see for this place. I honestly don’t like carpeting, and I personally would love to see all carpeting removed in all hotels, but I know that’s wishful thinking. I can still wholeheartedly recommend this Holiday Inn Express .

The staff was very helpful. Our room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We were going to a wedding in Newport, and the other hotels were much more expensive and required a two night minimum. This hotel only required a one night stay, which fit our schedule and budget perfectly.

The bed and pillows, I think maybe the curtains bothering for a while, bad its ok.

Location, staff (except manager), cleanliness, comfort, was great. Easy check in, great dining room and breakfast, pillows were the best!

It was nice to have something ready to eat. Appreciated the hot food and coffee.

This hotel had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Traveling with my wife and young daughter, stayed in a 1Br Suite with sofa bed. Unfortunately, we found this hotel’s condition to be a clear step below something like a Hampton Inn despite a similar price point. For instance, the room had gross stains all over the carpet, significant (and active) water damage/staining on the ceiling, and dirty overhead vents. Additionally, there were small details like a stained and uncomfortable sofa, very poor quality sofabed mattress that no one would want to sleep on, dingy bathroom grout, etc. I brought these concerns up to front desk on first day of my stay but was told there were no other similar rooms available during our stay. He said maintenance would stop by the next morning to observe the condition issues but no one ever came.

It's lovely.

Very clean, comfortable beds, hot shower. Good choice of items for breakfast.
