Americas Best Value Inn Lakewood Tacoma S

We felt very unsafe at this hotel. There were people walking around on the property and back and forth past our room all night. I wish I would have trusted my gut and left at check in. The room was pretty dirty, and the photos make it out to look much nicer than it is. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere/ in a different neighborhood. The only positive part about the stay was that the person working at the front desk was pleasant, but nothing beyond that.

Worst experiene of my life! My friend and i had booked this trip to stay for a work convention nearby. We didnt even get the chance to check in before the "manager" came in and yelled at my friend saying he recognizes her and that shes been here before. She has never been to Washington! This was our first time ever booking this hotel. And NEVER will again. I even asked him where the proof was that shes been here before and why he was being so rude and accusatory. Instead of actually explaining to us why he was claiming these things, he just explained, "ive been doing this for a long time, i recognize you too!" At that point i asked him to give me back our IDs and credit card because we were NOT staying there. He had repeatedly scanned out IDs trying to see if they were fake. Obviously not. We were so scared that he was going to do something.

This is a good news/bad news story. On first appearance, everything looked okay, if a little shabby. Bedding was clean but has so many layers of mattress protection one wonders what the mattress actually looks like. Decided not to investigate. It was plain that there were no bed bugs. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker all worked fine. Towels were plenty and spotless. Great. Flooring was so
dirty that the bottom of our feet were black. No chair, or desk. Beds are uncomfortably high making them hard to sit on. Pillows are uncomfortably thick making them hard to sleep on. Sink should be replaced. Unsightly. Owner/staff friendly and readily available. Give them a 10.

I felt very safe and well cared for

In 43 years I have never felt so unsafe or uncomfortable staying at hotel in terms of the room and the property. The staff was accommodating but I suppose my first indication of this locations issues were the fact the staff was behind a secured glass room.
The property was crawling with individuals I suspect were not staying as guest rather roaming the property. The traffic in the few short hours we were there involved what appeared to be drug and prostitution dealings. There was a group of three individuals using drug in the parking lot and they gave a very dirty look as though we were interrupting them. Ultimately It was the most concerning thing l've seen in a very very long time. And it takes a lot for me to feel like my property and persons is in some real risk of danger, harm, or theft.
My wife and I felt so unsafe and uncomfortable we decided to cancel our plans and head home. I would advise anyone traveling to find anywhere else to stay but this location. While the the gentleman I dealt with checking was friendly every single other aspect of this hotel was completely unacceptable. Please trust me when I say I don't complain easily if at all and that this review is meant as a warning to anyone traveling specifically if you're older or traveling with kids. This location is something you should avoid at all cost.

They stated they were pet friendly on the app and when I arrived they wouldn’t let me check in with my pet. Now I gotta wait 10 days for my refund from Hotels dot Com 😡😡😡

Awesome

I loved my stay, very clean and organized.

It was small and rather worn, coffee pot was the wrong one for the coffee maker, a 2 cup pot for a 4 cup maker so had to hold the pot up against the downspout, bedding pretty worn, but clean.

It was alright, however, the night auditor and Asian gentlemen, literally runs out to meet any of your friends that might show up and asks for their ID. What are my friends was very unsettled with the whole situation. This, to me, is overkill!

It met the needs to not drive home in the rain in the dark. Not our first choice...

Staff was nice, but the area had some people that made us feel a bit unsafe. Decent motel though.
