Homewood Suites by Hilton Mahwah

My CONFIRMED reservation was NOT honored. I drove 3 hours to get there and was turned away. I had to then drive 3 hours back home. Please look into this matter.

Outstanding assistance from Monica Brosius!

We has a problem with our first room - toilet wouldn't flush; shower drain very slow; ceiling was water stained and there was a 3-4" hole in the middle of the water stain. Monica transferred us to a very nice room for the next day of our stay. She was kind and cooperative.

My rating was a one (terrible) on the first room (218)- and five on the last room (213) after Monica Brosius moved us.

Breakfast was nice. Did not see much else. Chose for location. Staff was lovely. Lobby and area around pleasing.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and this is my first time writing a review. I’m not sure how this hotel gets such high marks when it is completely outdated. The rooms seem to have the original furniture from 25 years ago when it opened. The couches feel gross and the chairs are stained. While I think housekeeping does a great job, the tiredness of the rooms just gives off an icky feel. The toilets here flush slowly and often clog. On my last stay my toilet clogged so I went downstairs to use the toilets by the bathroom and both were clogged. Even outside the rooms the tiredness shows in the hallways where the floors are uneven and there are depressions you notice when walking that are actually a safety hazard. In the hallways on the third floor the ceiling tiles look to be in terrible shape and are uneven and look like they could fall at anytime. On this particular stay the fire alarm went off before 8am because it was being tested. This should certainly be done at a later hour as it woke my toddler. At breakfast on 2 days there was no regular coffee left and the staff said it would be 15 minutes for new coffee. That just seems like something that should be readily available. Also, I noticed that the make your own waffles was only available on the weekends whereas before it was available each day of my stay. I will say that the staff here is generally super nice. However, do not expect any wiggle room on a late checkout even for Diamond members as they will say the hotel is sold out (all I wanted was 12pm instead of 11am). This is easily checked on the Hilton app where I can see at least 9 rooms available for the coming night, including the exact room type I was staying in. I don’t appreciate being lied too. The Hampton Inn down the road is currently being fully renovated and once completed it will clearly be the place to stay. I only hope the Homewood Suites takes a similar path and renovates this tired property. If it does then it would be the premier place to stay in Mahwah once again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Homewood Suites by Hilton Mahwah, and the experience exceeded my expectations. The hotel offers spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained suites that truly make you feel at home. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing.

What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its outstanding staff. Every team member was professional, friendly, and genuinely committed to providing excellent service.

I would like to especially mention about Ms Monica Brosius. I found her to be helpful, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests feel comfortable and valued. Thanks for making my stay a memorable one. I will certainly recommend a stay here at Homewood suites, Mahwah.
