Marriotts used to have better maintenance
Pros:

My wife and I were quite disappointed in our room on the 5th floor. It seems like more than a few Marriott locations are having maintenance challenges these days. The Richmond Marriott at Short Pump was no exception. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom was rusted and broken. There was a spill on the bed foundation that had dried out over time. The bathroom counter had not been cleaned properly. Black mold in the shower. Lastly, the wallpaper had started to come off the wall in the main room. I wouldn’t expect this at all Marriott ten years ago.

Will choose another hotel in the future.
Pros:

Lobby / common area was nice. Very condusive to gathering without being in room.

Cons:

Pool closed...toilet stayed backed up entire visit...no working ice machine...breakfast was very expensive...maids took bag of food left on counter during our packing process...had not checked out...maids came in and took food and children's water bottles...got the bottles back...back should not have been in room until we checked out.

A clean, modern, and comfortable stay with everything I needed.
Pros:

The property was impressively well maintained from the moment we arrived. The rooms were clean, inviting, and nicely decorated. While the beds sat a bit lower than expected, they were surprisingly comfortable. The heated pool was a highlight and perfect for relaxing. We also enjoyed the on-site restaurant and bar…both had a great atmosphere. The modern fireplace added a beautiful, contemporary feel to the space.
