Nathan did a fantastic job of keeping everyone well looked after despite it being very busy and he was working the bar on his own. He took time to ask how I was and was very attentive to all the customers he was serving. He took it all in his stride, with a smile and without a hint of stress. He’s a natural with outstanding people skills. He’s a great asset to your team. And he made me a cracking cappuccino!
The main let down of this place is the service and the people who work here. The hotel itself is a nice basic spa hotel with decent amenities for a nights stay. However the service is incredibly slow, at reception, at the bar, in the spa, just a lot of young people unable to react to customers’ needs. The spa was overcrowded and we ended up abandoning our drinks at the bar because it took 25 minutes to be served. One girl in particular was miserable.
Booked for 1 night Bed&Breakfast as attending evening function in hotel, room clean and adequately furnished both shower cubicle and bath in en-suite and comfortable bed. Function room was good , hotel put on great buffet and staff very helpful. Well worth considering if looking for somewhere to stay in the area
Christmas party night , the food was not what I thought for the money paid , very small portion and my Auntie ask for more bread roll and was told there was no more , Had a bottle of wine and was taken by Member of staff when some was still left , my friend complained and got two glasses of wine given , the staff was too quick to take drinks that was in front us is half full still .
The room was lovely and clean .
The spa was lovely and had problem with my locker but staff on front reception did sort this quickly for me .
Overall my experience was nice , and room was great but for the Christmas disco was disappointing.
I booked this hotel for a birthday treat for my mum. All in all a nice stay, but it could have been so much nicer with a few tweaks.
Positives:
Room nice size, clean and good amenities
Bar - Friendly service, nice lounge and good food.
Restaurant - nice food and friendly service.
Spa comfy beds not enough tho
Improvements
Spa - we was looking forward to this, however felt a little let down.
On arrival to Spa a very poor reception from staff, no information provided, just threw 2 towels at us. Changing rooms, cold and quite dirty, so much water on floor. Only 1 changing cubicle not ideal. When people left spa, no tidy up following them leaving.
My mum who was 78 was chilly and i asked if we could have a gown, advised No as we wasnt having a treatment. I think if you are calling this a Spa then every guest should be offered a gown.
Steam room wasnt working most of the day, and pool was chilly.
All in all this was more of a gym layout rather than a spa. Definately NOT luxury.
Issues:
Charged twice for drinks, which reception could not refund, so waiting for Finance to refund.
Poor Spa Welcome
Tips: Take flip-flops if using spa
Lovely experience, spacious rooms, lots of parking available, balanced breakfast and the spa services are amazing.
Would recommend!
Not a family-friendly hotel.
We stayed due to its proximity to the crematorium after my mum’s funeral and chose it because it advertised a swimming pool. However, we were told the children couldn’t swim, and access to the pool was unclear and difficult. Eventually, they were allowed one hour the following morning.
We booked two suites (not interconnecting), which was manageable. My wife and children ate at the hotel but had real difficulty booking a table, with confusing and unhelpful communication. We were given 15% off food bill as a gesture of good will.
Not a disaster, but disappointing. If travelling with children, I’d recommend sticking to larger chain hotels that are better set up for families.
Beautiful venue, clean and staff friendly. Food could have been better but was ok. DJ needs to get a decent playlist and actually read the room! Would also have been easier if I could have charged drinks and paid at the end.
Had a wonderful, and the staff couple not have been more helpful - especially Susan in the restaurant at breakfast time, and Emily and Pat in reception.
Overnight stay for a work event. Welcoming and polite staff, room was clean and ample parking. I had a very early checkout, so can’t comment on any of the amenities they offer.
staff were nice room could have been better few cracks in walls, scuffed cabinets bed wasnt comfy maybe thats just personal preference but didnt manage to sleep well on it...
the spa was ok altho the jacuzzi wasnt working as i went inside which wasnt cool as was only there for one night and only got to spend hour using spa..
value i got it on a black friday discount.. but tbh that price of £65 is about right for this hotel the £95 or over £100 is way way way to much for the hotel..
Room good, food good, spa nice, lovely to have access to the pool. Although the area near the pool looked a little shabby. Found it weird, that there wasn't a hairdryer ine room, or glasses in the bathroom. Had to ask for glasses at reception that never arrived, so eventually got some from the bar. No fridge either! It was our birthdays, But don't expect anything and you wont be disappointed... But it was a good deal, clean, and accessable to Cambridge by bus so all ok.
Wonderful experience from the moment we entered. Helen on reception was welcoming and efficient. Our room was as described and very comfortable and clean. The inclusive breakfast was amazing. The lounge bar menu was adequate but limited it would have been better to eat in the restaurant.
Pool steam room and sauna all very clean and a nice way to relax. Excellent value for money
Spotless room, comfortable bed, decent shower. Couple of light switches didn't seem to work. Reception staff were very helpful - including when I left a few items in my room after checkout so thanks to them for their support.
I stayed a couple of nights to attended CERES Research Conference held at the Belfry, Cambridge. In my experience. Excellent event. Staff, attention to detail very good. Food menu very good to. Very relaxed atmosphere. Rooms were as you would expect, very clean, well maintained. all complimentary items and sundries refreshed each day. Restaurant staff very good.
I've stayed at the Cambridge Belfry before and can thoroughly recommend it. It's reasonably priced, and the service is great, without being obsequious - you get a genuine impression of staff who know instinctively how to treat you as a guest - exemplary.
If you're staying here, do eat in. The menu is really good, with food well presented and delicious - I had the duck followed by the cheese. Oh joy of joy, this place has a fantastic selection of three of the best British cheeses that exist, and that shows the thought and consideration that has been invested in the menu.
Finally a big note of credit goes to Jasmine in the restaurant who clearly has a natural talent for what she does. Everything, from showing me to the table to sorting out the bill was done with such sunniness, it just lifted my day. Thank you, Jasmine.
Distinctly average at best sums this visit up. The warmest thing in this hotel was the welcome by the receptionist! The rooms were cold & the service in the bar was, to be generous, absolutely underwhelming, no greeting, no check backs on food, didn’t bother clearing plates or glasses & had service charge added for this privilege. Very poor service considering how keen they were to speak to each other
Staff were so accommodating from the day I made the booking right through to leaving. A big shout out to Josh for making our stay extra special. We had an incredible experience, and would highly recommend.
Lovely hotel with great facilities. But highlight for us was the service and meals in restaurant. Evening meal was FANTASTIC with great service from Josh and breakfast the next morning just as good, with superb service from Sue. Definitely use this hotel when next in the region!
We had best experience all round. From warm welcome at reception with Megan. The whole atmosphere was setting a great Christmas feeling.
Later a blissful Spa experience. To top it off the food at the Bar was truly gourmet! The room was truly clean and sparkling, very quiet.
For the finish the breakfast was truly amazing and Susan was very nice and helpful with additional requests!
The staff and whole experience was memorable and special 🙂
