A good well located hotel if you do not bring a car
Pros:

This hotel is situated on the seafront about 20 minutes walk from the town centre. The hotel was clean and welcoming. Our room was a good size, clean and well decorated with a good size bathroom and bathtub. Hot water was plentiful. We had a good view of the fire escape - but then it was the cheapest room in the hotel - I would recommend paying extra for a sea view! Breakfast was good with a plentiful selection even for a gluten free diet. Dinner at the sister hotel next door had less choice but the food was plentiful and served promptly.
Now for the one downside - the ridiculous £20 parking charge..The management needs to realise that this puts people off coming to the hotel - we would have stayed here before but because of this parking charge have used other hotels in Bournemouth instead. This time we circumvented the charge by coming by train. The hotel is a £6 taxi ride from the station. There is an hourly bus service (number 33) that stops outside the hotel, but Lansdowne is a 10 minute walk away with buses to all parts of Bournemouth and Poole and also services to Swanage, Salisbury and the New Forest, The other way to circumvent the parking charge is to park in the street outside where parking is free from 8pm to 9am. fI you are going out for the dsy this is a much better option than paying the hotel charge.

Mediocre hotel
Pros:

The hotel is a bit dated. Needs upgrading. The rooms are spacious, but the family rooms do not face the sea. Breakfast choices are limited. Staff are friendly.

DON'T BOOK DIRECTLY WITH BEST WESTERN HOTELS (it's flawed)
Pros:

First of all the hotel for the money was acceptable a bit run down outsde mainly pool area closed off. but room and breakfast were fine. the proplem I had was with the booking Sytem if you book direct through Best Westen Hotels GB website IT'S FLAWED
DON'T BOOK DIRECTLY WITH BEST WESTERN HOTELS. I was unfortunately directed to their website by a search engine to stay at one their hotels in Bournemouth. I was encouraged to join their membership with the promise of a possible free breakfast for the stay (no chance). However, I continued anyway and booked/paid for one room with breakfast for 5 nights which was confirmed on my payment/booking summary. I thought that was it, far from it. Luckly because I don't leave anything to chance being a new member I check my booking in my account which stated 1 Room only (no mention of the Breakfast) . I immediately rang the hotel number, no answer, rang the central booking LGH who confirmed the booking was for 1 room only . They looked into it for me checking with the hotel and other departments who were all adamant I'd booked 1 room only. This went on back and forth with phone calls and emails from me including the booking /payment as proof which they still did not accept, but after 4 hours, they as a good will gesture added a complimentary (ie; Free ) breakfast. BINGO.
Following my stay, I raised a complaint stating their booking system is flawed and requested compensation for my time and trouble in helping them to sort it out. Which was denied, so I then suddenly released seeing they denied everything and only added the breakfast on a complementary basis I should be entitled for the breakfast part of my booking I paid for, which was also denied and closed the complaint. So, I got Resolver to intervene but after 7 weeks they haven't had the courtesy to respond. So in short, they deserved this review to warn others think of booking direct. If I read the rest of the reviews on this site I would Of thought twice about booking directly with them VERY POOR

Pros:

Arrived late, left early so didnt experience much of the hotel. Room 1101 - a classic double nice enough with clean bed linen and towels, a large flat screen TV and decent furnishing and 6' double bed.Love making noise could be heard from one of the adjoining rooms - but sadly not from our that night (lol). No view from room. I'd give the bathroom a 7 outof 10 as it suffered from the usual british hotel standard of the odd dusty area (back of disabled rail). Overall good value for what we paid. We would return.

Pros:

Check in efficiency was painful, & for some time quite concerning.. with more or less zero customer service, reassurance or initiative thrown into the mix.
My partner checked in a between 1-2 hours before I arrived at the hotel. By time I did, the night porter had just recently begun his shift. He struggled to find the booking details- i should add that my partner's phone was, at the time recently stolen.. therefore, nonexistent! Meaning I would need to obtain the room number from reception in order to locate our room- this did not seem overly odd, or big a deal as you do expect there to be some miscommunication between nighttime and regular staff. I was advised by the night porter he was about to give his boss (I think the duty manager on that particular day) a call to assist him. When I returned from the balcony, having smoked a few cigarettes, to allow what I thought would be adequate time to solve the issue, the said managers is now present. I didn't exactly feel a very warm welcome as I approached the desk, and actually had to ask myself "so I take it you know what's going on?" To which he responded that he did, however there was no sign whatsoever of our booking either amongst the paper records, or on their systems. This continued for further 5+ minutes -after which, he called somebody above him presumably

Pros:

most disapointed to be told that parking would cost an extra £20 per day ( not mentioned on website, only that on site parking was available )breakfast served in next door hotel as work supposedly starting in our hotel ( no sign of this during our stay ) also on stating my displeasure at this was told I could cancell and go elswhere, not at all welcoming !
the room was not cleaned in the three days of our stay although we had put up,the do not disturb notice on the Monday morning for approx 3 hours.

Avoid!
Pros:

What an utter shambles of a hotel. The external decor offers you a warning of what’s to greet you inside. Peeling paint, missing tiles, a shabby entrance…on entering there are steps up towards the bar area that doubles as reception desk. The staff - there aren’t many - don’t seem overly interested. Check in is not before 4pm (which means per night you’re actually paying for just a 19 hour stay). They agreed to keep my luggage but no tags or token for me to prove it’s mine in my return.
On my return after 4pm I had to wait 20 minutes while a woman demonstrated because the balcony room she’d booked wasn’t available.
My room was shabby. A sagging sofa, stained carpets, sagging mattress, peeling wallpaper and chipped paint, a dated bathroom. On the plus side a good size wardrobe and a fan was provided. And a good selection of tea and coffee. The balcony was narrow and a single wooden fold up chair was provided.
Breakfast was a poor show in the first morning. Plastic cheese, tinned fruit, overdone bacon and cheap sausages. On the second day the restaurant was closed. Why? Because they only had 10 guests so we were told to walk down the road to another hotel - good job it wasn’t raining. Same sort of breakfast, concentrate fruit juice, cheap bread.
I suspect most of the people who stay here are coach parties. I pity them being dumped in this dump. If you have a choice, choose not to stay here.

Good but room for improvement
Pros:

We had a lovely rime away but the hotel is in need of some updating, the floors were incredibly creaky and noisy, not ideal for a family stay with a baby. The breakfast was good. We were unfortunately disturbed at around 1am by the alarms going off which terrified our 3 month old.

Pros:

The parking is so expensive,.i never been in hotel and pay for the parking. The window's room so old and wind come inside even if they are closed. The indoor pool is not working and when you book it's not mentioned. My expectations was high but the reality is different.
