Pros:

Area felt unsafe. Building looks abandoned on arrival as you have to go through the side entrance. Lady could not find our booking which wasn't a great start, no apology once she eventually found it. Room was finished very badly, paint everywhere, including on the walls in the bedroom, the bathroom and even the curtains as well as the mirrors. Shower did not work. Room smelt old. Questionable stains on the furniture too... In general, a poor stay in a badly maintained room. Pay the extra and stay elsewhere, anywhere. We even had an extra guest with a big web as his home (spider)Worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

Pros:

Taking into account the cost of the room, my expectations were low but even so I was very disappointed in this hotel.

The pictures used to advertise it must be years old. It is badly in need of renovation. The communal carpets are filthy and the room was badly in need of redecoration. The bathroom light continually flashed, the toilet roll holder fell off as soon as I touched it and the tap on the sink was very slack.

Despite the radiator being turned off it was very hot and remained so all night. Not ideal when the window only opened a couple of inches.

I won’t be back regardless of the cost.

Pros:

Not a great looking place externally, looked run down and closed, not helped by a poorly lit car park and no clear direction to the reception which was right at the back and again, not welcoming.
Only the number of cars and vans there, convinced us it was open.
Then, the access door was tied open. Not sure if was a fire door, i guess not.
Could have been a better recovery if when we found the reception, the receptionist lady was more tentative. She had her head down in some paperwork, which is fine, but look up and say something, like "hi, ill be with you in a moment" just acknowledge us.
Anyway a couple of minutes passed, then her opening line was.... "name" no please, no hi, just asked for our name.
Gave us a key and DID read out the room number, but didn't point out which way to go, or which floor or anything. I had to ask.
Then, the staircase to our floor, 2nd, wasn't well kept, just needs a clean and a dust and again, more lighting.
The room, was OK. Suitably aged in line with the hotel, but with some modern decor and a decent bed, but poorly painted patchy walls and.....no heating.
I went and asked the lady how the heating works and she said she'll give is a heater until it comes on. The heating didnt come on, our whole stay. Was it not turned on at the mains? (Heating WAS on in reception).
A nice clean bathroom though with hot water and had a lovely bath, however the plug had no chain and we had to use a key afterwards to prize it out. Also, obvious damp.

Pros:

Tired run down hotel, in a dodgy area. Van stolen off the car park on first night, shower broken so asked for another room. Trying to find your way around corridors was insane as signage pointed to old reception area no longer accessible.

Only saw I staff member who doubled as receptionist and barmaid. Nobody made my bed after first night and never saw housekeeping in my 2 days stay.

Cheap but not cheerful

Pros:

The staff seemed ok if a little unsure about knowledge of their job, we were told we had the bridle sweet which was on the third floor up narrow stairs with no lift. When we entered our room we were shocked, it was disgusting for start it was a bridle sweet yet there were two single beds in the main room and a double bed that the mattress didn't fit in another room. There were a lot of stains on the carpet and some rather dubious stains on the sofa, where are you supposed to sit. The pictures on the hotels.com website and the pictures on Google maps are three years old and do not represent its current state, the front of the building looks almost derelict with various windows broken, the entrance to reception is round the back in fact the only thing that resembled the hotel in the picture was the wall mirror. I can't comment on the breakfast as we walked out and drove home, NOT something I wanted to be doing after going to the RTTW event at the National arboretum. I have made a complaint to hotels.com and am awaiting their input.

Pros:

The first room that I had: tv and bathroom light weren't working. Next 'deluxe' room was better but still not up to scratch. Shower didn’t work, bath was rusty and dirty. My daughter had another 'deluxe ' room but had someone trying to get into her room. She had to jam a chair against door until i fetched her. We ended up sharing a bedroom. Definitely not a place for women/ young ladies to feel comfortable. Would be fine for workmen staying overnight

Pros:

Unfortunately we didn't even get out of the car to check in. The building was not as pictured on the booking app, and is in need of a total overhaul.
It was a cold day and ever single window was open, which I think could indicate an internal issue with odours.
Even worse than the condition of the building, was the car park being occupied by men dotted around in various places that were smoking rolled cigarettes that smelt very funny.
So, unfortunately due to feeling unsafe to the point of not even get out of our car, we decided to move onto another hotel.
