Peaceful country feel setting yet close to nearby towns
Friendly staff who were happy to make you enjoy your stay
On site leisure facilities
Location
Transport safety
Taxi to town, but was ok
The location was great as it was close to amenities staff friendly
Tea and coffee in the room which was really good, fresh towels the room was clean
Couldn't open the window as the lock wire was too short for you to have the window open which made the room extremely hot, the fan that was in the room couldn't turn on as the noise coming from it was horrendous, the drive way up you have to play dodge the pot hole and some where extremely big, when we turned up there was no one at reception and no way of getting hold of anyone to come and greet us,
Beds were comfy and nice hot shower/bath in the room. Fan in the room to keep it cool.
My son liked the pool and sauna, decent size pool for a swim and not too busy.
Gym is large and lots of different equipment.
The whole place is a bit run down and neglected, a shame as it has so much potential to be a nice country manor style hotel with some investment and TLC.
Individually staff were nice but overall it’s understaffed and standards slip when it’s busy. For example having to ask for cups etc at breakfast, no staff member at the pool desk meaning we couldn’t enter, no one there on reception for check out.
Not up to the standard of a 4 star - no hairdryer or safe in the room, dirty tea cups not replaced in room. Also charging hotel guests £5 to use the pool and gym - most hotels would include this as standard.
Easy to find I guess
- No hair dryer
- The shower head was awful
- Lots of mold in bathroom
- Black hair in bath tub (I am blonde)
- Black hair on bed
- No fridge in room
- Very dirty
- Staff not that helpful
- No biscuits in room
- Corridor unclean
- Dirty plates in restaurant (had to order out)
- My room was so noisy I had no sleep, felt very u safe like someone would enter room at any moment
- One of the light in room didnt even work
- No brochure or menu im room, no idea what was there (googled it)
- Dirty mark on mirror
- Called room service to get some plates and they said I had to travel to kitchen and carry plates and cutlery back to my room
- Wanted to use pool but was so put off from it.
- I paid for breakfast but didnt show up as everything was dirty
Location, grounds, swimming pool
No towels at the pool!
The staff when you could find them were friendly.
The room was not clean. You had to pay to use the pool even though we were staying at the hotel. The food was very expensive for what you actually got.
- No plug socket by bed
- No internal access to pool and spa via hotel
- Cloudy pint
- No service at bar
- No water in room
- Poor shower pressure
- Hotel refusing to return keys I left in room and state I need to collect them
Room was clean and comfortable. Receptionist was great
it was a Thursday evening and there was hardly anyone there which then seemed to reflect on the evening menu where it said al a carte which I didn't need, I would have been happy with a bar menu, but that menu was more like pub food, but a much worse selection of which didn't make sense. There was only a small selection to choose from, 2 of which were not available. I went for steak thinking that would be safer if they weren't cooking for many and although cooked to perfection (medium rare), they couldn't do the advertised peppercorn sauce with the rump, just the sirloin which wasn't available, so I asked for mustard but they had non (this is a big hotel!!) and disappointingly it was really tough. As there was no one else to serve the waiter (who was very polite) came to get my plate when I literally stopped for a minute.
I went to the swimming pool, the connecting corridor from the hotel was out of use so I had to walk round the back of the hotel which was fine, but when I got there they had no towels and hadn't for 2 days so I was asked to go back to my room to get my room towel so I just didn't bother as by now I felt a bit odd about it all,
Just the outside and the breakfast ,
Dirty, scruffy,no staff, ripped Carpet in the party room ..the toilets in the main hall were grotty.staff were hard to find !!the food for the party had no signs ? I’m allergic to mayo ,no descriptions ? I wouldn’t go back ! Had to pay to go swimming considering we had all spent a lot of money ,to attend a 90th party
Great for my location
Breakfast expensive
Room was comfortable if a little compact. Breakfast was very good. The only member of staff on duty was very personable and did his very best, but he shouldn't really have had to multi-task (reception, bar etc. etc.) as he was required to do.
We booked this hotel because it had a restaurant with good dining and we reserved a table for dinner. On the day of our arrival (and just before we left home) we were informed that there was an issue in the kitchen and that our reservation could not be fulfilled - we were never convinced that there was actually any 'issue' other than that there were no other reservations for that evening. My booking was non-refundable; otherwise I would have gone elsewhere, rather than have a room 'picnic'. There were certainly no kitchen 'issues' for breakfast the following morning - the small number of residents meant that cooked breakfast was 'to order' rather than a buffet (which, for me, was a plus).
Staff were lovely - the pool is ok but strong smell of mould on the way to the pool. Dinner wasn’t great but breakfast was ok. Pretty location.
As above
The location was spot on for my needs
The staff the bar was unattended when I approached the receptionist he was not happy as he was on the phone to a mate. They had no food because of a wedding of 30 people and the chef couldn’t cope. And breakfast was £17.50 pp for over cooked sausage and bacon and cold beans. In all avoid the place very poor
location
room very warm
