Super location and setting - well priced
Pros:

5 stars for a hotel in lovely grounds with a fitness health club and all necessary facilities.
The staff are excellent and I was also able to make use of the dog friendly facilities as well.
Food and bar excellent - and all provided at very competitive prices.

Lovely setting
Pros:

Seems a great location with all amenities available if required.
Stay was short, so unable to comment further.
Great stop off, certainly ticked all of the boxes for my needs.

Cons:

Called the hotel directly to book, advised that no rooms were available, so I booked via booking.com who did have the availability, and were cheaper!

Sunday carvery
Pros:

Had a really lovely carvery here. The food was and everything was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. A very nice touch was a free glass of wine. Great value for money and I’ll definitely be back again!

Stayed to attend a funeral, they made our stay an awful experience

Despite the rooms having been paid for via booking.com, the arrogant, rude, man at reception, refused to allow the guests to havevthe keys tontheir rooms until credit card details had been handed over

Rude, arrogant, money grabbing
Pros:

Having paid £240 for two rooms so that my family could attend their grandfathers funeral, the rude arrogant receptionist would not allow the 4 guests to have their keys until they handed over credit card details. My son did so fearing that they would have no where to go.
7 minutes after my family left the hotel, i was sent a bill for a further £120. This was retracted once i threatened solicitor involvement.

Clean and tidy hotel, with no frills.
Pros:

Plenty of parking. Room was nice and clean but nothing special. Breakfast was lovely (included in our booking).

Cons:

Reception/check-in was slow. Had to pay extra for use of spa facilities (pool, sauna and steam room). No shower gel in showers, no wet bags in changing rooms, broken tiles on floors. Hotel is tidy but looking tired. Some work being done, but needs a good uplift. Breakfast service was poor, but food was lovely. No cups, no coffee, no juice on arrival, all supplied but seemed a hassle to the waiters.

Convenient for our trip, great cooked breakfast, could do with updating
Pros:

Convenient location for our trip. The cooked breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly.

Cons:

A bit dated and tired. Only one pillow on allocated per person. Sticky floor.

Very pleasant and comfortable within easy reach of several places of interest, which we visited.
Pros:

The room and especially the big bed. All meals were very good and the staff were very polite and provided a good customer service.

Cons:

The background music in the restaurant could have a little less intrusive. We expected music that was a bit more up-market given the impressive surroundings, rather than what sounded like a continuous competition to reach the highest note!

Our evening meal was poor. The batter on the fish was soft and the 5 chips were greasy and inadequate. Very poor quality.

dissappointing
Pros:

I did not have breakfast at £17.50 I was told there was no alternative

Cons:

Room incredibly hot .I was given a fan but it made no difference .They would not open the window .
No biscuits in the room to go with the tea/coffee.
No bitter available at the bar .
Other party member had a dog.on arrival we were told the dog was not allowed to be left in the room while we supper .so had to eat in the bar area.
