A 5-star experience that felt one argument away from turning physical — completely unacceptable at The Westin by Marriott.
My stay was overshadowed by a deeply unpleasant and unprofessional experience during breakfast.
At a crowded counter, I was physically squeezed between guests, including a staff member who made no effort to create space despite clearly seeing the situation. When I politely asked him to move so I could access the food, instead of assisting, he responded with visible arrogance and began talking back. This was not a one-off remark—he continued to argue, justify himself rudely, and never once offered an apology. For a 5-star establishment, this level of behavior is completely unacceptable.
What escalated the situation further was the involvement of the manager, Preetham. Rather than de-escalating or addressing the concern with professionalism, he chose to defend the staff member and dismiss the issue. He referenced opinions of bystanders as if this were some sort of investigation, instead of focusing on resolving a guest complaint through proper channels such as reviewing actual evidence (like CCTV footage).
Even more concerning was his tone—he repeatedly talked over us, denied his own statements, and used phrases like “don’t put words in my mouth” and “if you have a problem, I’ll just go.” At one point, his voice was raised, which only intensified the situation further.
A manager represents the standard of the hotel. In this case, the behavior displayed was confrontational, dismissive, and far below what one would expect from a reputed 5-star brand.
This experience was not just disappointing—it was genuinely uncomfortable. I hope the management takes this seriously and ensures better staff training in professionalism, accountability, and guest handling.
The breakfast service was the most disappointing part of our stay. We encountered unprofessional behaviour from staff, and the management response did little to resolve the matter appropriately. Although one chef present showed courtesy and apologized, the overall experience was unpleasant and below the standard expected from a hotel of this brand. Guests should be aware that the food and beverage experience may not reflect the level of hospitality they anticipate.

This was my daughter’s first hotel stay in India and she really enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a memorable stay made sure by all the hotel staff and all the good hospitality showed to us.
Had a wonderful stay! The staff was very polite and helpful, rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the food quality was excellent. The overall atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. Would definitely visit again.

Absolutely wonderful stay at the Westin Mumbai Powai Lake. It was my wife's birthday and the staff made sure that we had a good time. My kid spoiled will all the attention from the staff and he was totally in his spirits exploring the property.
Ms. Sneha Saha was there all through out and accomodated all my special requests for the celebration. The view from the room is fantastic and the lovely restaurants are a delight. I will definitely make a trip here soon.
