There were two rooms in one room. Staff was very polite and the place was clean breakfast was good.
I felt like just walking around in the room normally it shook the bathroom door and I kept having to tell the kids to walk slow cause I thought we were going to get in trouble, but we weren’t even doing anything but I felt like it because of the door shaking and kinda loud
Breakfast was fine bagels were hard
Furniture was very worn and used. Construction was ongoing and had we known that we wouldn't have stayed there. Also construction workers must have hit something to make fire alarm go off.
Hotel was under major construction and the hallways and our room smelled like solvents. The odor was so strong we slept with the windows open all night in October. Better to be cold than wake up with a headache from the fumes. Make sure they are done before you book a room, they won't tell you if you don't ask! We booked the room the day before and called the hotel directly. No mention was made of the major construction when we made the reservation. It was evening when we arrived and we had been driving all day, so we really didn't have the option to find another place to stay.
We have stayed there several times before and without construction it is a nice hotel, with a great waking path right behind the property.
Room had a strong smell of bleach which lasted for 25 hours with windows open
Bathroom fan extremely noisy and same switch as the light
Too many dogs!!
Woke up to barking dogs multiple times
We were supposed to stay at a different Marriott property but had a terrible experience so Bonvoy customer service stepped in and set up our reservation at this hotel. The kindness of Dalaina, Alissa, and Drew was exactly what we needed (not to leave out the housekeeping staff and maintenance). We even extended our stay. They are doing a renovation but it did not affect our stay. At check out we had the pleasure of meeting the GM Matthew. Truly a special experience. Thank you!!
great
To compare this to Towneplace Suites in Coeur d’Alene is unfair. That is a new property. This one is older. I believe we stayed here with small children just after it opened, which would have been about 1995.
We stayed in a renovated room. The renovation is hit and miss. It can’t make it a new property. Having just stayed in Coeur d’Alene (2 weeks ago) I appreciated the ducted air conditioning as opposed to the window unit there. I also appreciated the extra closet space and layout that gives one at least the illusion of some privacy in the studio suite.
The lighting is definitely low wattage, although our bulbs (I checked after reading the previous review) were all LED. I used to travel with a 100w incandescent bulb. I may have to pack a higher wattage bulb with me again. 😊
Excellent
We've stayed at a LOT of Residence Inns, and this one was sadly the worst. Disclaimer: It's currently undergoing a pretty major renovation...maybe it will be better in a few months.
First, the good:
1. The bathroom tub and toilet were spotless. (Thank you, Housekeeping Team).
2. The breakfast was good.
3. The 2-burner electric stove worked well.
Now, the less good:
1. Customer "service" was pretty non-existent, except from the above-mentioned housekeeping team, which was helpful each time I stopped them in the hallway for something.
As a frequent Marriott and Residence Inn customer, I am used to a standard of service that is friendly and helpful, and where I am not made to feel like I am a bother for having a basic request...like asking for a few lightbulbs for the lamp that had none. When I asked, the associate frowned and looked super irritated that I had a request. When I let that same associate know that the (non-working) firepit had a very strong smell of gas, (wouldn't you want to know if it was your hotel?), she was immediately dismissive and told me "That firepit hasn't been working in months." and showed zero curiosity or interest around this potential safety hazard. When I insisted that it was really strong, she muttered that she would "let maintenance know" and went about her business of ignoring me. I had at least one or two other interactions with this associate (she was the main person during our stay). and they pretty much had the same vibe each time.
2. Speaking of not feeling welcomed... the front desk basically had a walled-in bullpen behind it, and IF the associate was ever at the desk (we were there for 4 days and more than 70% of the time there was no one at the front desk at all), she would be back there (where you could barely see her), further making it feel like you were a total bother to have a basic request. (see picture). This, combined with the frowns, made it feel like a very unwelcoming experience.
3. Our room. Though we were in an updated room, relative to other Residence Inns, it felt quite cramped, and it was missing basic amenities, like lightbulbs for the lamp (see above), or a toaster. When we asked for a toaster, we were told there wasn't one. The "updated" cabinets were simply cheaply painted over cabinets with no hardware. It felt rushed and cheap, despite being "new." The stove and the dishwasher worked fine at least, but seemed to have stepped out of 1985, adding to the cheap vibe. We had purchased coffee to make in the room, but the coffee pot was a single serve version that required hotel-provided pods. And there was wasn't a knife block or even a drawer space for the dull steak knives. They were just placed in the cabinet in front of the plates. It was all just...underwhelming. And the lighting! Aside from the fact that the lamp was missing lightbulbs (it was supposed to have 3, we were only ever able to get one), and another light wasn't working at all, the lighting was some of the worst we've ever experienced. It was fluorescent and depressing in the worst way. And even if we'd had the proper amount of lightbulbs, it still would have been terrible. The room was so depressing in general, and especially at night.
4. If you are in a wheelchair, do not stay at this hotel. There literally is no handicapped accessible entrance anywhere that we could see, and certainly not at the main entrance. (Is that what the law allows in Washington?)
In closing, as pretty big Residence Inn fans, our advice is to keep looking for something better if you find yourself in this area. (And if you are able to stay a little further east, in Coeur D'Alene - we highly recommend the Towneplace Suites, which is amazing).
Maybe once the renovation is complete it will be a better experience, but as of July 2025, we absolutely would not recommend it.
The hotel is under renovation but it was a very pleasant experience
Absolutely horrible experience at Residence Inn by Marriott Spokane.
Booked a 2-bed/2-bath suite same day on June 29. Drove over 7 hours to arrive at 10:30 p.m., only to be told the hotel was overbooked and our room wasn’t available. We were given the option to take a studio (1 bed + couch) or call other hotels ourselves to see if they had availability at 10:30 p.m. No one ever called us to let us know the issue—they claimed they “sent an email,” which we couldn’t check while driving. They also falsely claimed there was no phone number on file… yet somehow managed to call me the next day.
We took the downgraded room out of sheer exhaustion. I asked for a concession on the price since this was their mistake, not ours—none was offered. I was told we had a 4 p.m. late checkout (Titanium Elite benefit), only to get a call the next day stating that our items were still in the room and that we were suppose to check out because “there was no record” of the late checkout. She stated they were fully booked and needed the room. Our plans were disrupted and we had to head back to the hotel mid-day.
Both issues were blamed on the fact we made a same-day reservation—which is absurd. The Marriott system accepted the reservation, took my credit card and confirmed it with a confirmation email. If the hotel was overbooked, we should have been notified before arrival and NOT by email.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had—completely disorganized and indifferent customer service. I’ll think twice before booking another Residence Inn again. This is not what I expected from a Marriott property.
My family and I stayed in town for a week to visit family and decided to stay at the Residence Inn. The property was nice and staff was accommodating. I wish housekeeping would’ve cleaned more often, in the week stay we had they only came by once. The hotel is also currently under renovation and you can hear constructions noise late into the night. The fire alarms kept going off due to high chlorine smell/levels and not enough ventilation in the pool area causing and nuisance in our day. The room furnitures are really outdated with rips and pieces hanging out. Both mattresses were sunken in the middle causing us to wake up with back aches. Other than that
Outdated, Dirty, coffee was terrible, gym was just an oversized closet. Currently under renovation, would not stay there until its complete. Not enough staff on duty to cover each other for their breaks. Furniture in rooms was worn and torn. Room smelled like rotten pickle juice. Do not stay in room 125 until it has been renovated.
I have to agree with many of the recent reviews, this place is not up to Marriott standards. We paid over $260 for one night and expected much more, although they are clearly in the midst of a remodel so maybe in the next year there will be some upgrades/improvements.
When we walked in thru an odd entrance, I thought it smelled of cigarettes, but my husband thought it was a food smell. There was a dish I thought had candy but instead had dog biscuits right inside the door--they do allow pets.
We somehow got a room on the first floor, which is odd for us, and it faced an outside sitting area. We had requested an upper floor room with extra towels but received neither. At least it was a quick walk to the pool, which was pretty much out of towels, and they were never refilled during our stay so luckily we did each get one.
The room had a lot of issues. It was supposed to be a king size bed, but it was barely a queen. We had a sofa bed and a chair and small table and chairs and the full-size kitchen area that was stocked with plates etc. which was nice. But the room had dents and patches everywhere in the walls. The A/C was LOUD. The furniture was all ripped. We got a room with a walk-in shower, and it didn't drain well so you couldn't go into the bathroom without shoes as your feet would get wet. Those extra towels we asked for but didn't get would have come in handy to make a dam on the bathroom floor.
The breakfast was ok. I did find gluten free cheerios and a hard-boiled egg and they had almond milk. My kiddo got a waffle, and my husband said the sausage patty and omelet were fine. There was a staff member that was doing her best to keep everything filled.
Overall, we normally only stay at Marriott as an upgrade from Hilton or BW and this was not an upgrade by any means for the price. If the remodel is done well, then check it would but I cannot recommend right now.
We had a nice stay. The hotel was going through renovation, which was good as it was showing its age. Overall it was a very nice stay, good breakfast, and the staff were great.
The property is nice staff very friendly but they need to keep up the cleaning in the pool house and the bathrooms at the pool house. Also breakfast is very limited they need to improve
Excellent
The stay was great. The only complaint was the tv sucked. Between the remote and the TV there was 30 seconds delay
I could not hook up my HDMI cord to my iPad through the tv. kept having problems… Not sure if it was the TV or the remote but just trying to watch TV was very stressful.
ok
