Overall a great stay
Pros:

The location was perfect, easy access to the various events I was attending. The neighborhood is safe and the accommodations were perfect. There was a slight stench in the air due to carpeting in the hallways, the facility allows pets so I believe that may have contributed to the aroma in the hallway.

This hotel needs to be rehabbed and restaffed before it can charge these prices.
Pros:

The only positive aspect of our overnight stay was the proximity to Wagner House, a nearby wine bar/restaurant. The restaurant is in walking distance from the Hampton Inn and was comparable to an establishment one would find in Chicago. A truly exceptional and unanticipated treat.

Cons:

The room and bathroom are in serious need of updating. There was a permeating odor in the room that was reminiscent of sewer gas. Overall cleanliness and appearance of the room was below average. The cleaning staff needs to be trained. The designated Vending Machine area needs to actually have vending machines. The desk staff lacks energy and is not what could be described as welcoming. The breakfast was lacking in healthy options. Neither the coffee nor the orange juice was drinkable. We had reserved what we believed to be a higher end room in a four+ star hotel. We were completely disappointed.

Pros:

I really liked our room. It was very clean and updated. The breakfast lady spent more time talking to her friend that was there eating her free breakfast then she did tending to the breakfast bar. The front desk was very very nice. We did have a seedy character that appeared to be on drugs outside our door when we came in after dinner.
