Staff was great. Location was fantastic. Room exceeded our expectation
This hotel was positioned in a great spot in the city and the hotel recognized Marriott Titanium Status by providing an upgrade to a Junior Suite. The airconditioning worked well in the room on a very hot day in early August 2026. We loved the overall feel of the hotel but I cannot rate it a 5/5 because I did not think the bed was comfortable. Everything else was immaculate about the hotel. Our upgraded room was also perfectly quiet in a busy part of the city!
Make sure you reserve a parking spot in advance if you plan on parking on the premises.
Location was great and hotel facilities were good, breakfast was nice.
The restaurant turns into a nightclub on both nights of our stay, Fri & Sat night & our room was directly above the restaurant so no sleep until 3am!!! Would’ve been nice to know!
We are a couple in their late 70's with multiple surgeries struggling to walk, were give a very small room on the 6th floor corner away from the elevator with practically no view. Upon asking them to switch us to a lower floor close to the elevator the front desk staff was rude and simply dismissed our request and our concerns.
We recently completed a 3-night stay at the Renaissance Lucerne. On the positive side, the location is excellent, and our 4th-floor room was quiet. Thanks to previous reviews warning about noise from the main-level bar and restaurant, we requested a room above the 3rd floor, which worked out well. Unfortunately, those were the only highlights of our stay.
Check-in set a poor tone. The receptionist, Dana, was unfriendly and seemed visibly annoyed that we had booked through a third party rather than directly with Marriott. When I asked to add our Marriott number to the reservation, she haughtily informed me that it "won't make any difference" since we wouldn't earn points or receive breakfast.
The room and bathroom were both quite small. Space was tight enough that only one suitcase fit on the luggage stand; the other had to go on the floor, forcing my husband to carefully maneuver around the bed. The bed itself was just average—noticeably less comfortable than the Zurich Marriott. Additionally, the room felt far too warm for the thick comforter provided. Even with the AC set to the maximum level (3), we overheated every night and had push off the quilt at intervals during the night. It felt as though the hotel increased the temperature settings overnight. Having a top sheet or a lighter option intead of just a quilt would have helped immensely.
The bathroom layout was awkward, with the toilet positioned directly in front of the door. While the shower was a decent size, the fixed glass panel design caused water to puddle on the floor where the panel didn’t cover. The lack of an exhaust fan meant the mirrors fogged up heavily, and odors escaped straight into the bedroom. To make matters worse, a housekeeping supply cart and a dirty linen basket were parked directly outside our door (Room 407) for the entirety of our stay, which gave our stay a low-budget feel.
Because we booked using Chase Reward points (which required significantly fewer points than Marriott required), our Titanium Elite breakfast privileges were not honored. Consequently, we cannot comment on the hotel's breakfast. Instead, we bought pastries daily from Bäckerei Macchi and ate them in the lobby while using the hotel's coffee/tea station. While this worked fine, the lobby area curiously lacked napkins of any kind. For those looking for alternative breakfast options, La Vie En Rose, Melissa’s Kitchen, Mill’Feuille, and a Starbucks are all within a short walk.
A few final operational notes: the elevator is incredibly slow for a 6-story building, resulting in frequent waits. Also, if you plan to drive, note that hotel parking is 35 CHF/night and should be reserved upon booking. The hotel only controls three gated spaces; fail to secure one, and you will be hunting for public parking.
Overall, our stay was underwhelming and disappointing. Next time, we will opt for a different property, such as the lovely Hotel des Balances or The Hotel Lucerne, if we want to stay within the Marriott family.
all good
all good
Location was great. Beautiful decor. Staff very friendly and helpful. There was a weird smell in the bed. The walls were thin so it was very noisy. AC was either freezing or off.
Nothing. The Júnior suite (room 201) was shameful. It should not be a room at all. The room strongly smelled like cigar. The window was tiny and faced another room’s air conditioning equipment. But the worst thing was the smell. It was really strong. We hate cigars. That room should either not exist or be offered only to smokers.

Das Frühstück war wirklich unschlagbar!
Die Zimmer sind etwas klein
Room cooling was nice, not A/C but still really nice. Ice machine was handy in heat wave on 1st floor. Room was very spacious, shower was excellent. Counter in bathroom was huge. Bed was nice king-size. Had balcony to walk out on.
Balcony could have been bigger, oddly small but still nice. Little pricey but we needed a nice place.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel, all of the staff was amazingly kind and friendly, we got a nice upgrade with a balcony and large room, breakfast was amazing again very kind staff, also a lovely location.
Great location
Very small
Shower was so small that it could barely fit one person in
Expensive for such a small room
die Lage ist optimal, wenn man Bahn oder Schiff benutzt
stark in die Jahre gekommen
This was the start to a river cruise and the hotel was part of our package. Great rooms, great towels, amenitiies and in room coffee was plentiful. Safe in the room, plenty of space for out clothes and suitcases. Showers were very good too though the "no shower door" thing is a bit of a mystery. Elevator was a bit slow but we walked most of the time so not a bigh deal and the stairs were great.
