Pros:

Quiet location, very helpful staff and breakfast wasn't too bad.

Cons:

We've stayed here a few times now stretching back over 15 years, but the rooms are just starting to look a little untidy, areas of peeling paint and wallpaper are appearing and it looks like it's time for a refresh. This was the first time I have noticed a drop in room cleanliness. We will stay again, as overall in its current state it's still acceptable, but only just.

Dinner arrangement is a rip off
Pros:

There is explanation of what you get for your dinner arrangement if you book it with the room. Turns out my drink was charged, only the food appears to be included. To compliment this, the charge was then automatically charged to the card that was used for the booking, which was not what I wanted and was not authorised by me. When I checked out and mentioned this, there was no offer to sort the issue, just a “There’s no further charge to be paid, it is all settled.” Customer service then never got back to me following my complaint.
Sadly for them, they lost a new customer on his first stay, as I will never return.

With the double double room, why would you go anywhere else?
Pros:

Great value hotel, with friendly, helpful staff and a lively fun atmosphere.
Pool and sauna facilities were also great and breakfast was excellent!
Spacious modern rooms - we stayed in the ‘double double’ and it was perfect for a family of four

Awful
Pros:

Aside from the location, this hotel is not worth staying at all. The rooms do not reflect the price you are paying. The bedding was ripped, the sink was blocked and despite letting the staff know of this repeatedly, they were of no help. Housekeeping staff were rude and abrupt when we mentioned we had a child with a medical condition so would need extra resources and it was very difficult to contact the staff as everything is managed via AI. There is no fridge or phone or extra facilities in the room. The central location is the only positive.

Consistently disappointing.
Pros:

Location is convenient. The food in the pub downstairs was very good though expensive.

Cons:

I only stay here for the price and convenience. It is consistently poor in terms of the run down rooms. The worst part is the noise from the lobby and gym if you have the misfortune of being situated near them. They usually move you if they can but it's no good if they can't.

I will definitely choose Village Hotels again
Pros:

I'd never actually heard of Village hotels before my stay, and was recommended it by the friend I was popping up to visit and, oh yes, it was by far the best choice.
It's not massively stylish or over the top, but everything it does, it does well. The ladies and gentlemen on reception were kind and always asked if I needed help when I was using the automatic check-in/out and even advised me on how to add an additional night.
I didn't go to the Pub and Grill itself but I did order room service on my final night (boring, I know) and it was pretty damn tasty.
The room was clean, massively spacious, the bed comfy and the bathroom really good too.
If I'm popping back up to Bury, I'm definitely staying here.
