We stayed at the Microtel this past weekend as part of a wedding party. I was in the wedding and had been looking forward to a weekend away with my husband, but unfortunately, the condition of the hotel was incredibly disappointing.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear the property was not being properly cleaned or maintained. The elevators had such a strong, unpleasant odor that we chose to take the stairs instead — only to find the stairwells smelled like we were standing next to a dumpster. The stairs themselves had visible grime and dirt caked onto them.
Unfortunately, our room was no better. I documented the condition with photos immediately upon arrival. The comforter had large black stains that looked as though a marker had exploded on it. The curtain and curtain rod were partially dangling from the wall. Surfaces appeared to have been dusted only across the front, while thick, visible dust remained toward the back. There were even crumbs and debris left in the sink.
The bathroom was the worst part. The toilet looked as though someone had just used it, flushed, and walked away. There were brown marks/streaks down the inside of the toilet. It was so dirty that I went back out to our vehicle, got my own Clorox wipes, and cleaned the bathroom myself before we could comfortably use it.
Shortly after arriving, we were dealing with a family emergency, so finding another hotel simply wasn’t something we were able to manage at the time. Had circumstances been different, we would have switched hotels immediately.
For a two-night stay that cost us nearly $400, this level of cleanliness and maintenance is completely unacceptable. I understand that hotels can be busy and that things occasionally get missed, but this went far beyond a minor housekeeping oversight. The problems were evident throughout the property and in multiple areas of our room.
Worst experience.
Locked out of our room for many hours, lobby was dirty, pool area was filthy, smelly and moldy.
We were charged over $400 for 2 nights. If we could have we would have stayed somewhere else unfortunately all the good hotels were sold out due to the hockey tournament.
By far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Wish you could do a negative star. Poop stains on beds, dirty underwear in room, overcharged my friend 3 times for a weekend stay, keys wouldn’t work, locked out for 4 hours and stuck in the lobby, daughter was having an asthma attack from the mold in the pool room, couldn’t access her inhaler that was in my room because their key system wouldn’t work and couldn’t find a replacement for 4 hours. Staff re-keyed their master key, didn’t get back into room until after 1am and had to be up by 6am to be at a hockey game as we stayed there for a tournament. Multiple people were stuck in the lobby because of their key issues, people had to switch rooms prior to the key issues because of damages/issues, but just dealt with a broken toilet because at some point enough is enough and you are just too tired to keep trying to find a place to sleep. I do not recommend this place to anyone. This place should just be demolished. Stay at your own risk, but you are better off finding a different hotel or Air BNB. Don’t waste your time.
When checking in it was amazing and smooth but the room had a weird smell to it and than when going swimming it had mold on the ceiling and the evening staff was very unhelpful with the kids who weren’t being watched with their mother drinking not watching her kids in the corner and than got locked out of our room while many others were standing around waiting for someone to show won’t be staying here again
We stayed here for a hockey tournament. The employees were very nice and helpful, and that was really the only positive thing about our stay. First, the swimming pool wasn't functioning and not available for use. The breakfast selection was very limited and the juice machine was broken both days we were there. The waffle machine was also not working. The room, while decent sized, had mattresses that were extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom door wouldn't shut, the toilet was crooked, and the drain in the shower was extremely slow. The water pressure was very low and the water was hard. I have stayed at Wyndham properties before that were very nice, but this property is in serious need of improvements and renovations.
Location good - center of town and a friendly Applebee's next door.
Staff friendly and responsive. Bed comfortable. Very nice seasonal decorations in the lobby
Napped on the hideabed sofa in our room - got bug bites. That was a first for us. 2 night stay and had to go down to front desk to ask for toilet paper. (Also only 1 piece of Kleenex in the box when we arrived.) Minimal towels. Breakfast dismal - only waffles and a few dry looking pastries. Internet wifi ok but it would not connect to our TV Fire Stick - unusual. (Most of the hotel's tv channels were sports or kid stuff.)
Price was elevated presumably for the Oktoberfest weekend, as expected, but we did not feel like we got good value.
Clean and comfortable. Small room.
The walls are paper thin. I could hear clear conversations and people snoring, coughing and blowing their noses. I also heard people walking above me everynight and morning. The latch on my door got stuck and I called the front desk 4x to get hung up on. Glad there wasnt a fire . The free breakfast was nice but not enough for me to return.
Urine on the toilet. View was a dirty rooftop,
Had to ask for towels, washcloths on 2nd day. Didn’t leave soap or shampoo. Asked on 4th morning for room to be clean. Out of the 7 night we stay, never got anything resupplied again. No sheets were changed or room cleaned or anything.
For the most part the trip was ok however we wanted a relaxing weekend away and part of that was sitting in the hot tub and swimming in the pool. It looked like some kids had a pool party in there as there was beer boxes and cans in the pool area. The bathroom in the pool area was trashed and the shower curtain and bar were on the floor broken. It looked like someone pooped in the pool and it was ice cold! The hot tub looked like it may have had beer poured in it the jets didn’t work and it was not very hot at all was very disappointed in it as we were looking forward to that!
Quiet and comfortable rooms.
Everything was good.
Clean, reliable option. Breakfast was a subpar, though.
Staff was very friendly, room was clean and comfortable as was the lobby and food area, there were plenty of options for breakfast. It’s not a five star hotel but it was a very nice option for us. The flooring is some kind of tile and I appreciated that. It was much better than carpet. We could tell that it was clean.
Check in was fast and easy. Rooms were clean. Had nonissues. Was a wonderful stay.
The manager Mr. Patel was outstanding and made my stay a wonderful experience.
We asked for a room on the ground floor and were as far away on the second floor as my handicapped husband could walk. We could not get hot water. We could not shower. We had to stuff the towels against the adjacent room because the tv was so loud and on all night. Could not sleep at all. Very disappointed!
