The room had a microwave, 2 burner stove, full frig, and stocked kitchen, as Extended Stays do. The "breakfast bar" had coffee, tea, prepackaged muffins, and oatmeal packets.
The air conditioning & heating unit didn't work well. And, the hotel ran out of shampoo. Otherwise, it was fine for the price.
had a stove and full size refrigerator
the floors were dirty, breakfast was just a coffee bar
Nice clean room. The staff was very friendly. Nice location.
Everything was good 👍
Very Comfortable Accountable Close to Shops; eateries, grocery markets, fast food..
Staff friendly Checking in/Checking out Clerk accommodated my questions with great care. A listening ear to concerns; A Pleasant Experience!
Of course having to leave a monetary deposit but it's to be expected.
I do not like to write negative reviews. But my experience with the owner of the Extended Stay hotel in Stockton showed he has little respect for his customers.
My experience in brief: I came to Stockton for one night for an event at the University. I selected Extended Stay because of location and price (and decent reviews). I paid online through Booking.com. When I showed up to check in I immediately realized my drivers license had accidentally fallen out of my wallet. I had 3 credits cards with photos and another photo ID (University faculty card) plus a photo of my passport and drivers license.
Instead of helping figure out a solution to check me in, the hotel said I could not stay there. The decent hard working person at the front desk (who was fine) says she has to call her manager. Then I get on the phone with the owner/manager and he rudely refuses to talk to me and then hangs up. I was trying to ask him to find a solution and he was totally unwilling.
It's our policy to not check in anyone without an ID. OK. But surely you have had this situation before where someone loses their ID?
But policy or not, you still talk with customers with respect. The owner did not. This is not any way to run a hotel with any respect for its clients who are facing an honest problem: losing their drivers license while traveling. The owner's assumption was almost like I was trying to con them even though I had already paid.
What could they have done instead? 1. Treat me the customer with respect. 2. Try to problem solve to see if there is a way to still check me in that works with their policy. 3. Don't assume someone is trying to con you and refuse to talk with them.
Punchline: Avoid Extended Stay as this is not a place that seems to care for customers. Go to La Quinta Inn down the street instead.
What happened when I went down the street to La Quinta?
1. They listened to my situation with kindness and respect.
2. They problem solved.
3. They let me buy a room I am happily staying there. (
Pro tip for future reference if you are going to a hotel and don't have your ID or lose it: Either:
A) Pre-pay for your room such as on Expedia so they don't have to run your credit card and therefore don't need to see you ID...
Or
B) go to an ATM and take out the money in cash to pay the hotel).
Both were offered to me by La Quinta. I highly recommend the kind people there. Was $10 more expensive per night and every bit worth it.
I hate writing this bad review because the people who work at Extended America Stockton are decent. The owner however needs to learn that this is no way to treat customers.
