Ashley is amazing. So attentive, fun and made our experience beyond enjoyable. She took care of us like no service I’ve ever experienced before. I could not recommend the Johnstown estate more but if you’re looking for 5 star service, ask for Ashley. A true breath of fresh air. Thank you Ashley - we love you!!! Xx
We spent a gorgeous morning at the spa followed by an amazing lunch. From the minute we arrived, we were well looked after by the staff. The spa is absolutely beautiful, so well managed and clean and incredibly relaxing. The treatment I had with Inna was incredible. Lunch at the spa cafe was delicious. We'll be back again for sure. Couldn't recommend more highly.
Great staff made our 2 nights stay memorable. Particular call out for Cian who served us in bar and his manager who looked after us so well. And Sara , who was in training , who was quietly efficient. Our room was spacious and bed was so comfortable. Food was lovely in both the dining room and the bar. Breakfast was lovely and a huge choice to suit all. Staff very friendly and helpful throughout the hotel.
Having heard lots about the great food in Johnstown it is hard to get over the disappointment with very poorly trained staff and no one in charge. After waiting for a long time after we arrived the wait person asked us what we wanted to drink. Seemed very put out when we asked for a drinks menu. She returned with one menu under her arm. Seemingly there were no more menus! We had already tried the cocktail bar but left after a ten minute wait when no one at all was working there. I eventually had to go to the bar to be served. Lots of headless chickens walking around with silver trays in front of them but actually taking orders or providing menus were beyond them. The same experience with mediocre food..Luke warm burgers with onion rings cooked a few days ago on top. Had to ask 3 times before a second bottle of very pricy wine appeared. As anticipated the tea ordered after the meal never appeared anywhere except on the bill. There is someone standing uselessly at a 'wait to be seated' sign but beyond lifting a finger when it came to fulfilling any actual orders or directing where you might be served. Is there anyone in charge in Johnstown Estate??
We had a brilliant stay at the Johnstown Estate. The staff were very accommodating, and the food was delicious in both the Fire & Salt Restaurant and the Coach House Bar. What really made the experience even better was our waiter, Oisin M. He was extremely attentive, friendly, and polite, and his service truly enhanced our visit.
Had a lovely meal. Oisin and Nixon took great care of us. Handsome little divils!!
This hotel offers large, super clean bedrooms in a quiet and county location yet within a 20 - 30mins drive to Dublin. The bathrooms are spacious, with baths and separate showers. Wifi is fast and free. I stay here frequently and have no issues with the Wifi in either the rooms or the lodges. Parking is safe and also free.. The breakfast has a wide variety of items, the cooked food is lovely and the staff service helpful and friendly. If you go early it is quiet and service is prompt. The grounds are good for a walk and the pool/spa area is great. The cakes served in the lounge area are delicious as is the bar food. My only issue is that I have stayed here multiple times and it is never recognised by the reception team. I often book the Estate Circle rate and have to request the upgrade if available on that rate. I checked into the hotel today and had to advise the reception team that this was a return stay and one of many. It would be nice not to have to do this! That said I highly recommend the hotel. Book and stay, you will not be disappointed.
Lovely birthday meal in parterre .amazing service and cocktails from Craig and joel . Thanku
went to the bar with family for dinner and the service was amazing. Abbey was so attentive and was really helpful with recommendations for food. The food came very quick and it was really nice. The bar men were also very helpful. Great value for money and will definitely be back !!!
Excellent experience overall. The hotel was very cozy. The food was really good, both at breakfast and the restaurant. Best pizza I've had in years too. Special mention to a very professional member of staff - Craig H. 5 star service. From reservations assistance, dinner service, cocktail service, and spa advice. Myself and my partner felt very very looked after. Above and beyond is an understatement.
The rest of the staff were lovely too, the spa team even pushed things around to accommodate us last minute.
Thank you to everyone in the hotel for a great weekend.
Wonderful service , attention to detail was excellent
Lovely experience in The Coach House. Food was excellent. Really looked after by Nixon. Recommended some lovely dishes and was an excellent host.
Lovely meal in The Coach House. Great food and atmosphere and our waiter Nixon was super helpful and friendly.
Stayed here for Valentines Day, it was busy and buzzy which was good. We had a few drinks during the day, had to get wine glass changed as served glass with lipstick marks. Also got a strawberry daiquiri that was not a strawberry daiquiri. Room was fine, as usual with nearly every good or bad hotel we’ve been to, the bed is just two single beds pushed together. I’ll never understand how these hotels think that is the way it should be. We went for a cocktail before dinner, waited 35 minutes for the drink. Server was lovely and he had forgot to put in our order which we understood as mistakes happen. Dinner was lovely, we had the steak and halibut, the steak was very tasty. Overall the stay was enjoyable, I just find for the prices these hotels charge they just aren’t up to the standards of the price.
Nixon was a gent to deal with , good sense of humour . Very friendly and efficient.
Stayed at the Johnstown hotel for valentines weekend ,myself and my husband had a lovely time there . Hotel was very busy and they had plenty of staff on . Shout out to Craig in the cocktail bar he was brilliant so friendly and enjoyed our little chats with him couldn’t do enough for us also loved the Valentines cocktails. The ground s of the hotel are lovely even with the damp weather enjoyed our walk around the grounds . Room was nice and clean /cosy . Entertainment was brilliant singer in the bar and the DJ in the cocktail bar . Pool was also lovely looking forward to coming to your hotel again. Thank you .
In general the hotel was clean and parts of the building are beautiful. However, the service was terrible. From the moment we checked in, the service was atrocious! All staff are on a go slow- the hotel was very busy and it felt like they couldn’t cope. The food was terrible- I was really looking forward to the cocktails from “ the best cocktail bar in Leinster”
It was a shocking place. The building was akin to a lean to with wicker furniture and desperately slow service.
Breakfast was mediocre at best but we had to ask 3 times for a pot of tea which eventually came with a very grumpy waiter ( young lad) who basically banged it down on to our table!
I will never go back to this hotel. I am glad I didn’t actually pay for it myself. I used a voucher that I received as a present.
It is a hotel that has too many untrained young staff walking around doing nothing. Such a shame as it could be a lovely hotel.
Just wanted to write a review as we have just came back from a lovely Valentines night away, we stayed family 4 at a 2bedroom lodge and it was lodge number 420 on the corner, i was really impressed when i entered in everything looked brand new the decor was stunning and all lovely furnishings so impressive lovely carpet really nice comfy beds and it was so warm and cozy we had such a wonderful experience and the lodge i would give it 5 star really was nice. Also like to mention the guy who checked me in , i did not get his name he was there about 4 pm Saturday and again 1 pm check out he was so nice and professional and warm and welcoming nothing was an issue and he is a credit to the hotel. the only thing i have negative was breakfast in all hotels ive been to you normally can help yourself to buffet didn't like that you were being served and you have to pay €4 to get a nice coffee made instead get out of a machine which was not nice this should be included with your breakfast at a hotel this standard and price and also pool next morning swimming lessons on and the steam room was not working other than that was lovely night stay would definitely recommend the lodges so lovely and the staff are really nice.
We stayed in the Johnson estate June 2025. The room we requested which was a deluxe double was not the room we got and there was footprints on the wall. We got moved to another room which wasn't much better. Door wasn't locking properly on the room the janitor had to come to fix it twice The food i have to say was good . Normally an hotel would send an email to see how your experience was but we never heard from them .
Really lovely overnight visit. Took in the health suite, pool, ice bath, drinks and dinner and we only checked in at 6pm! Food was great, bar service a little mixed but, that said, one server in particular, Oisin, really stood out. He was friendly, professional, attentive and had a wonderful old-school work ethic that made all the difference to our experience.
Would return and recommend this hotel.
