Breakfast was excellent. Rooms were updated and clean

Breakfast exceeded my expectations. I have rarely seen breakfast tacos at hotel breakfasts and overnight oats / chia seed pudding. All were delicious and felt like an upgraded hotel breakfast experience.
The set up where with the nightlight provided it’s too bright and makes it hard to sleep. Without the nightlight, it’s too dark and very challenging to navigate in the dark
Breakfast was not good. Kids loved the pool. The guy at the desk really did well given the circumstances. I know it’s a stressful situation to be in.
Network was down nation wide when we went for our scheduled check in at 5. We could not check in and were left wandering the city for 3 hrs because there were no other hotels available. The guy at the front desk figured out a way to get us in, which was awesome of him. However, we could not leave the room together as a family unless there was somebody to let us back into the room. I understand things happen, but the stress that was caused by this was not ok. We book in advance to have assurance we will have a place to sleep. Not knowing, being left to wander the city, and then not being able to go to dinner as a family because we wouldn’t be able to get back in the room was not ok.

The property is showing signs of aging, the carpets are old and show stains from previous guests and the grouting in the bathroom can definitely be improved.

he property and the room were fine except for one "medium" thing and one big thing. First, I heard the people above me every time they made a move. Second, and this is the big thing: the HVAC unit, which is inside a locked door in the bedroom, was extremely loud. It sounded like two diesel engines running. I had to turn it off to get some sleep. I asked for a new room, but was told the hotel was full. I am sure it was not, just from the look of the parking lot. Seeing very few people at breakfast the next morning confirmed my guess. Fortunately, it was not a hot night. When I checked out, I again notified the staff again about the loudest of the HVAC and was told that the HVAC units are over 20 years old and need to be replaced, but that funds were not being provided by "corporate". That, no doubt, is the truth. They did not offer to give me any sort of compensation.
The location.
The long wait to check in with no one at the desk. The cleanliness of the room. The staff ignoring every person walking thru the door and not smiling or saying hello.
**The only reason I am giving two stars is because the hotel did, ultimately, refund our stay which I thoroughly appreciate.** DO NOT COME HERE WITH BABIES/YOUNG CHILDREN. If you do, make sure to bring your own pack and play. The pack and play was not in our room upon arrival, leaving us to do the set up at my daughter's bedtime. The first pack and play had mysterious goo all over it and a stained mattress. The second was completely broken, again with a stained mattress. The third was less broken but still, broken, again with a gross mattress that didn't match the pack and play so it could not be secured. I ended up having to drive to Target, after bedtime, to buy a pack and play. Completely unacceptable. In addition, we did not appreciate that the sofa bed was not pre-made, having to make it ourselves. Housekeeping barely cleaned our room, and there was air coming in through the garbage bags on the window during an air quality advisory. Overall, I am grateful the hotel owned up to their errors but I would not recommend.
