A funky, fun hideaway convenient to everything in Santa Barbara. Great suite, attentive staff and great breakfast. A perfect escape while still being in town.
My biggest issue with this place was that the pictures of the room in real life did not match what the photos show. When I first walked in I immediately noticed many things were very different to the photos, the layout was different, wallpaper, I would say 80% of the furniture, and it was obvious the photos were heavily edited to increased brightness (it was very dark/dim in my room). I double checked to make sure my room was correct and I wasn’t inaccurately judging them for giving me a different room but the receptionist confirmed with me it was correct.
Another thing was I felt it was a little bit dirty and not very clean. The floor looked like it hadn’t been mopped or steam cleaned in a while and a lot of the fixtures and things like cabinets and drawers were quite old and there was also a musky scent in the room. Albeit I am a bit of a clean freak so for some other people maybe this is sufficient but I like the hotels that I stay at to be very clean and not make me feel worried about walking around with my bare feet (I wore slippers the whole time because I was concerned about the carpet).
It’s not that the room 100% entirely terrible in and of itself, but it’s the fact that they don’t match what’s shown in pictures which is honestly quite misleading. I stayed in the grand studio king balcony and you can see from my photos it does not match what is shown on the websites photos or the ones here (at least as of writing this review from what I can see). The furniture is different, layout, flooring is all not the same, and it is very dark and dim compared to the edited and brightened photos.
I’ve stayed various of high end to mid end modern and boutique hotels before but never before been to one where the photos and room I book have this mix of a contrast effect. It felt like I got catfished. I’m writing this review mainly because I wish I could have been warned before booking and hoping it helps someone else.
Really cute.

Danke war alles super!
Room had no AC for first night so for $900 we got a standing fan and an open window, no discount offered. Also "dog-friendly" with no space for pet relief.
We had stayed here on a previous trip when the hotel was under different ownership. The location is perfect with everything you need within walking distance.
The style of the property is perfect for us, small and traditionally built. The current owners retaining many of the original features.
Free underground parking is available.
Reception staff were a bit off hand and not particularly customer focused.
Whilst we understood that it was a child friendly hotel we had need to complain about the behaviour of a group of teen girls who persisted in screaming at the top of their lungs for hours on end, while their mother sipped wine and surfed on her phone. The reception staff dealt with our complaint but felt the need to explain that the hotel was family friendly.
Loved the vintage Hollywood vibe, cleanliness & location.
Having a glass shower w/out a bathroom door...immediately visible to anyone who walks in the front door.
Had a lot of character and was tastefully decorated and equipped. Free parking
Location was a little further than expected
Perfekte Lage, mit Pool, Patio und Fitness
Preislich anspruchsvoll, der Komfort war es aber wert!

You are in a bubble of tranquility
Nothings
Breakfast was great - good selection and very tasty. The decor is delightful and the rooms are really comfortable. Great parking - right underneath the hotel. The hotel really fits the vibe of the town.
We came up to Santa Barbara, a town that we love visiting every other year, for our wedding and chose Palihouse as the venue for our reception. Our wedding party was a small group and we wanted a place that was personable and captured the feel of one of our favorite coastal places. Palihouse SB did not disappoint on any front. Event director Noelle was attentive and thorough, both leading up to our big day and on the day of our reception. She made herself available for an extensive phone call to go over all event and menu details and offered her council when we had questions. In addition, she shared the venue's Spotify playlist so we could get a taste of the chill atmosphere that was awaiting us. On the evening of our reception she made sure everything was perfect with food, beverages, and the overall mood. Speaking of food, Chef Gil's spread was phenomenal and our group loved it. We went with the family style options and had steak, chicken, and salad and I'm not sure anything was left when we finished. While we didn't do a full buyout we still had the courtyard to ourselves. I highly recommend Palihouse as a place to stay and for hosting an intimate event.
