We recently stayed at Hotel Albatroz in room 207 and had a very disappointing experience.
Shortly after arriving, we noticed blood stains on the sheets and I began waking up with numerous bites across my back. To rule out any other explanation, we requested fresh sheets and pillowcases. The following morning, the blood stains had reappeared, and I personally observed a bed bug on the headboard. We have photographs documenting both the bites and the insect.
After reporting the issue, the hotel moved us to another room. While we appreciated being relocated, the hotel refused to provide any refund or compensation for the disruption to our vacation. Because of the suspected bed bug infestation, we spent an entire day of our trip at a laundromat washing and drying our clothing and belongings instead of enjoying our holiday.
Management’s position was that they conducted an inspection of room 207 and did not find evidence of bed bugs. However, this does not change what we personally experienced, observed, and documented during our stay. The fact that we found blood stains, experienced bites, and saw a bug in the room was concerning enough that we felt compelled to relocate and take extensive precautions with our belongings.
The most disappointing aspect was not simply the condition of the room, but the hotel’s unwillingness to take meaningful responsibility for the inconvenience, expense, and loss of vacation time that resulted.
We chose Hotel Albatroz because of its reputation and location, which makes this experience even more frustrating. Future guests should carefully inspect their rooms and be aware of our experience in room 207.
Fantastic hotel! Clean, comfortable, great location, beautiful bar and breakfast area. Loved it.
Great view. Good Breakfast. Great Location.
Hearing people at the pool and Bar during night.
Great staff, location on the beach, beautiful view from the room.
Staff amazing and location incredible
We just got back from our family vacation to Portugal where two of the days we spent in Cascais at the Hotel Albatroz. We loved the city of Cascais and the hotel. It was my wife and my favorite hotel of the trip. A simply beautiful hotel with amazing views of the water. It was located right in the perfect place to easily enjoy all Cascais has to offer and is an easy Uber trip to Sintra as well. The staff was wonderfully kind, friendly and helpful. My wife and I lived the view from our room and the kids loved the pool. Note that for our family of four we needed to book two rooms one for us and one for our kids which seemed typical to our experience with hotels in Portugal and was not an issue. We would for sure stay here again as it was one of the standout hotels of our trip.
Breakfast was delicious. Staff very friendly and courteous. The Hotel decor was absolutely beautiful. The welcome bottle of port was lovely.
The pillows were uncomfortable to sleep on. Upgrade to a better quality pillow would benefit sleep. More room to hang up clothes. Had to double up on hangers. Space given was minute.
Excelente todo
Nada
Nice quiet hotel - lovely location with dining room over looking the beach and also very near pedestrian area and marina with lots of restaurants
A relatively small hotel. Position right by beach and train the other side to Lisbon.
Stylish interior , good quality food with lovely service,
Nothing really.
Near restaurants, shops and station… but right on the beach.
Nothing
Loved it all
This was not a five star experience. The hotel location and entrance is not pleasant. The hotel is by the train station and the beach so lots of unsavoury characters around. We checked in and reception asked if we wanted a table for lunch -
We said we did and they said they could book. We dropped our bags upstairs and went to the restaurant. I asked for our table and said we had booked. The manager said you didn’t book with me and I said no we booked with reception. The reply was so rude I was taken aback. He replied « are reception going to come and serve you then? » - unacceptable. The service overall was not what I would expect at all. Breakfast was good but we were not offered the opportunity to order à la carte items. The beach that sits below the pool area is a real problem. On two of the three days we were there it was filled with rowdy teenagers playing loud music which meant we could not enjoy the pool area. On the first day we were there a brawl broke out with a bunch of teenagers having a fist fight. A girl tried to help and was punched in the face. I asked the hotel to call the police. My daughter was so upset we had to leave the pool. Overall the experience was disappointing. The room we slept in was very nice.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was light and airy and very comfortable.
The breakfast was excellent.
The location of the hotel was great and the view from the terrace was beautiful.
There was free car parking at the hotel which was much appreciated
