"I recently stayed at Villa Mercedes Merida, Curio Collection by Hilton, and I cannot praise the staff enough, especially the manager, Mr. Cesar Morcillo. After I checked out and returned to South Korea, I realized I had left my laptop at the hotel. In a very complicated international shipping process involving multiple parties, Mr. Cesar went above and beyond to ensure my device was handled safely. He personally monitored the shipment, insisted on proper packaging to prevent damage, and even covered local customs fees out of his own pocket to avoid any delays. His professionalism, integrity, and genuine kindness are a testament to the high standards of Hilton's Curio Collection. He turned a stressful situation into a heartwarming story of hospitality. If you are looking for a hotel that truly cares for its guests, I highly recommend Villa Mercedes Merida. I look forward to returning to this 'home away from home' soon!"
Que está limpio
Realmente todo está bien , solo que excepto el señor de mantenimiento todo el personal de recepción te tratan con mucho desinterés
The room was so cute and very clean, we had a little balcony which was lovely to leave open for fresh air. The location was super convenient, lot's within walking distance. Markets were set up in the street nearby which made it nice to not need cab fares each day. The hotel also had it's own little shop which came in handy for me as I forgot to pack sunglasses and I was able to buy a pair from here, prices were very reasonable!
Nothing!
Villa Mercedes is a contradiction.
-Hotel Lobby looks immaculate - just like the photos.
-Hotel Pool looks just awful - completely neglected and unwelcoming! The Pool Floor/Sides had rust and stains. The interior pool lounge area looked like a shipwreck, with furniture worth throwing out. Glass windows weren't likely cleaned in more than a month. Leaves didn't appear cleaned from the pool. It was +33c (January), so there's no good reason to not maintain the pool area, even in the off-season. But the issue appears longstanding - I won't try guessing when any of the pool area was last painted. And again, some of the furniture was several years past their best-before date.
I had a friend in Merida, but instead of inviting her for a swim at Villa Mercedes, I proposed buying a POOL DAY PASS AT A DIFFERENT HOTEL, given the condition.
It's incredibly hard to believe that the Lobby and Pool are managed by the same hotel. Just perplexing.
Cleaning staff were great - very helpful, although quick to barge through the door instead of waiting to receive word from anyone inside. My room wasn't equipped with a "Do Not Disturb" sign, unfortunately.
BREAKFAST ISSUES: I believed check-in informed me that the breakfast buffet cost an extra +150 MXN per day, but I was not fully confident. SO, the next morning I went to the breakfast, and before agreeing to eat, I asked, "one hundred and fifty, right?". The Maria's restaurant manager replied YES. However, when it came time to pay, I was informed it cost +460 MXN, more than 3x the price I expected.
To their defense, the confusion may not have occurred if I spoke proper Spanish. However, it was clear they didn't try to understand me.
Anyhow, the breakfast buffet was very good (and worth more than +150 MXN), BUT to spend $35 Canadian Dollars on breakfast was a bit extreme. I had plenty of excellent meals in Merida at 1/3 of the Villa Mercedes breakfast buffet price.
BOTTOM LINE: I upgraded (+50 CAD/day) to Villa Mercedes hotel the week before my trip, especially given the pool area photos I saw. The reality was much different. I didn't get value for my dollar.
Ubicación. Cama. Buen desayuno (no incluido).
No hicieron la habitación dos dias seguidos. Olor a humedad. Primera noche tocó pedir cambio de habitación por mal olor.
El hotel es bonito, el lobby también.
Hacia frio y el agua de la alberca estaba helada
Business hotell best the conventos centre. Safe and fancy neighbourhood.
We stayed four people in the same room. A bit crowded. The TV was not a smart TV.
