Nice, clean and comfortable
Pros:

Our stay at Holiday Inn Express and Suites Lake Union has been five star all the way. From the moment we arrived, we have been able to relax and rest in comfort. Trixie at the front desk made our check in seamless, and she was super polite.
Once we entered our room, it was very clean. I always go through a hotel room with Clorox wipes upon arrival, wiping the touch surfaces. The cloth usually ends up being dirty, but not this time! I wiped all touch surfaces and my cloth was still clean.
Our room was at the end of a hall, nice and quiet. The bed was very comfortable, and the mattress was clean. (I checked it). The beddings were nice quality.
We stayed 3 nights and there is no maid service. Not a big deal for us. We just picked up extra towels from the front desk as we were coming back in from touring.
There was one minor problem, but it’s not worth decreasing the star value. Our shower was a no-threshold shower, and the water ran out onto the floor. We just asked for extra towels to keep the water soaked up. It may have been an accessible room, although we didn’t request one. The water pressure was a bit low, but adequate.
The breakfast was good too. There was a nice variety of foods, and several options for protein. The hot foods were hot and fresh. Each morning there were good choices of eggs and sausage, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and more. The coffee was really good!
The hotel only has two elevators, so allow yourself plenty of time to get downstairs if you are on a tight schedule.

Excellent over night stay prior to cruise

Potential to be a great stay.
Pros:

Cons:

When the power went off for over 10hours. Staff offered help to other people but we had to ask. Not sure why.
