Position is great, near to La Ciudad de las Ciencias and midway between the beaches and the city center. Lots of bus stops around and also the Turia Park, which is really nice. Breakfast is good enough. Overall is an old NH hotel that could get some renovations and better cleaning
We first had a room that was meant to be a communicating room with the one next to it, which you usually give to friends together or families. We had a door shared with the other room and during the night the noises from our neighbors became unbearable and we asked to switch rooms at 3 in the morning. It was like we were in the same room with them. Luckily they did change our room which at that point was even bigger and quiet despite being on the street. No bed bugs or anything. But the floors were not really clean and one day they didn’t clean our room despite we even put out on the door the sign that we wanted the room cleaned. They offered to do it once we were back in the room but at that point it was too late for us as we needed to shower and prepare to go out.
No tengo ninguna queja
The staff was really nice, the room was overall clean and the location is wonderful - just by the City of Arts and Sciences! They were also kind enough to waive my mini-bar fees. I don't know if it's because of the situation below but, regardless, I really appreciated it.
The room had a door separating it from another room - so most likely, it used to be a 2-bedroom suite and they simply locked the door that separates rooms to make them into two separate bookable rooms. I get the point, since the they're trying to get the best bang for their buck. But what this results in is a very poor guest experience, particularly from a privacy point of view. It just felt uncomfortable to be there.
To be fair, I did ask for a room change (mentioning the reason for it) and they understood, saying they'd potentially be able to get me one on the following day. Unfortunately, due to tight scheduling on my end, I couldn't go to the reception in time to be able to solve this. So when I finally went there at the end of the day, they said all rooms had now been checked in. So it was my fault I didn't get a better room but the point remains the same: if I had, this means someone else would've gotten my original room, hence probably having a sub-par experience.
The bottom line is: they need to actually remove that door and build a wall there. And I'm sure they know it - I wasn't the first person complaining about this and I certainly won't be the last. Even though it's a 3-star hotel, you still expect to at least have a proper wall separating you from other people. Specially at that price point.
It's a shame because one single aspect impacted the experience at several levels - comfort, privacy, quietness and even perception of safety. All of this just made me feel disappointed and like I had overpaid.
