The location
We were confronted by street people while trying to park our vehicle
We did not feel safe in that area so we left
Absolutely nothing.
Hotel was dirty, carpets and room smelled foul. We were tucked in a back wing room with very dark and dirty halls. Bathtub was old and dirty.
The rooms could use some maintenance
And a deep clean not just a quick wipe and vaccume
Hot Breakfast was a nice surprise. The building is an older one and I like that they have tried to maintain the unique original look --
Unfortunately there are a lot of homeless people on the streets near here
The front staff were very kind and professional.
For the price and location the hotel is very dated, needs a lot of TLC, parking was $8 per night, and it didn’t feel safe after dark. Also the carpet very badly needs to be replaced.
The lady at the front desk was very helpful.
In all honesty, most accommodations have been good. Minor issues, nothing to really complain about. But there was too much wrong here that needed to be addressed, to hopefully save anyone else the misfortune of booking here.
We weren’t expecting to have to pay for parking. We talked with another guest staying at the hotel who also thought the parking would be free. There were at least five homeless people sitting in the parking lot which was uncomfortable. Another guest we were talking with went to check his vehicle at 2:30 in the morning and found a prostitute behind his vehicle.
The only thing we could do to avoid our car being potentially robbed and vandalized was empty everything out of our car, two luggage carts worth of stuff, into the storage room, on the second floor. We didn’t want to do that after a long day of driving in the 31 degrees heat. Very inconvenient, we did not have to worry about anything like this in any of the five previous hotels were stayed at this week. Then, we were told we could be moved to another hotel, which we didn’t want to do after we already emptied everything.
The wheels on the luggage carts had a mind of their own and would not cooperate with us when we tried to exit the elevators. This place had the smallest elevator we’ve ever seen and the luggage carts got quickly jammed when we tried to maneuver out.
When we got to the room the fan was being noisy and only quieted when it was turned off.
There were also major issues with the TV. There were only a few channels we could watch and the rest were locked behind a code, which the employees could not unlock. Only thing the employees could help us with was moving us to a new room, at 9:00 at night.
In the new room, the bathroom had barely any toilet paper left and we had to search for extra outside the room at a very inconvenient time. The bathroom tiles were cracked, and the exhaust duct was filthy, clearly hasn’t been cleaned in years.
Bed was comfy
The NOISE!! All night long. Bar scene- rave- outside noise until 2 am
Great stay, clean, comfortable, golf sim inside the hotel with pool table and bar for football
Breakfast was just ok
Pros
- air conditioning
- decent air quality (I guess they had filtration in the central air system)
Cons
- Extremely dated and antique room
- Filthy disgusting bath tub
- Moldy bath tub tiles
- Broken toilet paper roll holder
- Stains all over the flooring and walls
- Rust on almost every single metal surface. This is not "chic", it's just lazy.
Overall the room was extremely disappointing. We only stayed two nights but decided not to use the shower because it was absolutely disgusting. It stank of mold (as well as visible mold growing). The floor in the room was gross and we felt like we could not walk without our shoes - random stains everywhere and did not feel safe. The toilet roll holder basically fell off the wall on first touch. The body wash dispenser in the bath was empty on arrival. When we informed the desk staff, they did not install a new one, they just left a new bottle on top of our toilet... I guess we just do it ourselves? The few parts of the room you could tell were "updated" were extremely poorly constructed/done. You could tell that the person doing the installs had no idea what they were doing. There was zero sound-proofing on the exterior walls... Downtown Kamloops isn't too loud, but you could hear the mice chattering downstairs from the 3rd floor, the soundproofing was definitely non-existent.
Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience for over $250 a night... and this was the discounted rate given for the event we were attending. If I paid the original of over $350/night, I would not have stayed for even the first night.
I have been to 3 star hotels in third world countries that were better than this hotel. We will never return here.
I had a highly disappointing experience at this Ramada location. The hotel feels entirely neglected, and the rooms are incredibly dated and poorly maintained. To make matters worse, while breakfast is advertised as "included," it is absolutely not recommended. They served a dried-out egg dish alongside equally dry, unappetizing potatoes. The quality was so poor that we actually walked out to eat elsewhere.Between the run-down room conditions and the terrible food quality, this property does not live up to basic hospitality standards. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
The staff deserves five stars for their hospitality, but corporate seriously needs to invest in updating this property and fixing the food qualit
