We love the location used to stay there years ago when my parents were in the timeshare, but they have passed on in elderly things are a bit different now
We booked on Booking.com from the pictures. We thought we were getting a separate room and not just a studio when we told them of that there was nothing they did about it so the pictures were misleading and also because they’re under remodeling their front area. There’s a lot of happen to go around. Also, the vending machines were priced ridiculously no even change.
The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and large.
Patio view was a wall. This is an ocean view resort.
Pool! Jacuzzi!
Coffee machines in both rooms were missing the carafe and it took too long to get replacements, making the morning challenging.
Location
This was advertised as a hotel. It’s a time share apartment! Old, funky and not nice. Elevator buttons were broken. Clunky broken trash can. Cold and weird studio. I could have booked a comparable motel in town for $89.
Nothing
No heat in the room. Just a fan setting on the thermostat. It was 46 degrees at night. That was also making a screeching sound so I had to call maintenance. The refrigerator made the loudest noise ever all night! F this place!
Everything! It exceeded our expectations - the property is absolutely stunning, the rooms were immaculate, comfortable, and quiet (we woke up to the sound of the waves crashing and birds chirping). The amenities are great - gym, pool and spa, bbq’s, games, free parking. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a wonderful place to stay on the central coast. Avila is a special little place and we will definitely return.

The employee who checked us in shouldn’t be working there. He wasn’t friendly at all. No personality considering he was the face of the company at that point. When asked if the amenities ( like toothpaste etc, were complimentary) he said “ I could charge you but won’t today” .
We stayed 3 nights in a 2 bedroom unit. The smaller of the 2 ( it was actually a connecting studio) had an air conditioner that wasn’t working and it was 88 degrees outside. After 2 different attempts by maintenance to fix it, they decided it couldn’t be fixed. When we checked out, they offered us a 30.00 credit equal to one nights resort fee- not acceptable. They ended up giving us credit for 3 nights resort fees, but even that wasn’t enough for the sleeplessness that we endured with the heat.
The hotel is in a beautiful location, but very dated. They are presently remodeling the lobby so that’s a start.
My wife and I have stayed at this location occasionally over several years - across changes in ownership and management. Hilton Grand Vacations has finished the "rebranding" and has painted the exterior white, but we miss the pink. The interior is in the process of remodeling, but we got a room that was newly completed. Everything was clean, comfortable, and functional with an excellent view. To our pleasant surprise, there was not even a request to attend a sales presentation, and luggage carts were in ample supply. This is one of the best locations on the central coast.
