It was clean
Receptionist attempted to take two different value payments twice from an old card automatically after the fee had been paid in full. They also tried to charge us another £120 on top of our agreed sum until we argued. There is zero security - anyone can walk in off the street and go straight to the rooms. The room we were in (102) was noisy and the sink didn’t drain properly. For £379 a night we had very poor service and wouldn’t recommend or stay here again.

Good sized, comfortable room in an excellent location for exploring the city and visiting events at Murrayfield. All within walking distance and hotel is also very close to train/tram/bus links. Breakfast was generally excellent with lots of options cooked to order. Nice small touches such as fresh mineral water in the room every day and friendly staff on Reception who are happy to help with any local info. Comfy bed, good air con and hot shower - would stay again.
No complaints but the 4 star rating is probably over-selling it. We had a great stay with everything we needed for a comfortable base for a city break - it's not a top-end hotel in terms of facilities and the decor could do with a re-furb but comfort, food quality and service were excellent.
Location
We had a lovely stay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Cleaned each morning with fresh towels given. Reception and corridors were all clean and we were very kindly given an early check in. We were able to leave our bags all day on the day of checked out which meant we were able to go off and explore again. The hotel is situated in a nice quite part of the city with easy access for the tram or bus to and from the airport. The walk into old town is a straight road and only took a rebound 20 mins. We are able to walk either through park which was lovely in a morning or you can walk past all the shops. Its a great location and we would definitely stay again.
The shower wasn't great but worked.

Staff friendly, room clean, bed comfortable.
Shower room needs updating. Sink was badly cracked and had no plug and took ages to drain. Shower need re grouting bits of mould in places.

The hotel has not been renovated for a long time. Small rooms. Very small bathroom. No charges near the mirror, no possible to style your hair with a hairdryer near the mirror. There is a very small selection at the breakfast buffet.
