Hotel Colosseum

After having our trip to Dubai cancelled I quickly found this hotel for a short break to Rome instead and I am so glad I did!! The staff are all wonderful, friendly and helpful. We had a quadruple room which wasn't massive but the beds are comfortable and we had 2 bathrooms with showers which was great as we had our 2 teenagers with us. It was also quiet. We enjoyed the rooftop bar every evening, views were amazing, particularly at sunset. There are lots of lovely restaurants and cafes nearby and the location is great too. We walked most places but used the metro at the end of the day. 10 minutes walk to Termini and less from the nearest metro stop 'Cavour'. The breakfast set us perfectly for the day. Thank you all!

Hotel Colosseum has a terrific location near St. Mary Major's, down a quiet street. It has everything a 3 star should have with comfortable, immaculate rooms. The roof top bar for sunset is a must! (You get two free drinks on the lovely rooftop bar, where we watched the sunset over St. Peter's, and the price of drinks otherwise is only 8 Euros.)The breakfast had the usual European offerings, with hot scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage as well. The waitstaff will make you fresh cappuccino deliver it to your table. But the most outstanding part is the staff. We are world travelers and we have never met a staff as warm, welcoming and helpful as this one, from the front desk to the breakfast room to the cleaning staff. We had contacted them in advance of our trip, and they booked our tours (less $$$ than Viator) and even made dinner reservations for each night of our stay at small, local, walkable restaurants. Tomaso and Francesco at the front desk are STANDOUTS. (Everyone was, but these two shone like a star.) Upon arrival, Tomaso gives you a map and great advice on touring, safety, and even gives you a list of the four pastas every Roman eats. You might find fancier hotels or more luxurious rooms, but you will never find a staff that makes you feel as welcome as this one, or that gives you such wonderful service. They call your taxis for you and give you a hotel card and tell you to hand it to the driver and say "Our hotel said you would take good care of us"- avoiding scams.

Fantastic location as 10 mins walk from Colosseum. There are local shops for water etc.
Breakfast was good albeit the same everyday.

The rooms are quite dated however spacious (except the shower cubicle) and clean, has a nice terrace on the roof with a lovely view of the city. Breakfast is simple but gets you started for the day. Alessandro was working at the reception- such a lovely man, was very helpful and made us feel welcome. Our flight back home was early in the morning so he packed us croissants and pastries from the restaurant to go. Location is perfect, a few minute walk from the colosseum and all other main attractions are easy to get to. Would definately recommend staying here.

We booked two rooms - a twin room and a single room. Unfortunately, both fell short of expectations. The twin room had limited hot water in the evening, which was inconvenient, and the single room did not offer the level of comfort or quality one would expect for the price. Overall, it felt that more attention to detail and upkeep is needed to fully justify the rates.

That said, the staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful - and the terrace was a lovely feature.

When we checked into this little hotel after a long day of travel, we were greeted by really friendly staff with big smiles. We were early for check in and expected to drop our luggage off and go out for a drink. However, we were told to wait for 20 minutes and a porter took our luggage up to our room. Everything was traditional and immaculate. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom with a couple of body washes. Coat hangers were available in the wardrobe along with tea and coffee facilities next to the TV. There is also a safe to use but we took out valuables with us. If you wanted, there were extra pillows too in the wardrobe. We looked out onto a small road which was surprisingly very quiet at night time. The metro station Cavour is just down the road with easy, affordable access to everywhere. The reception staff were kind and gave us a map highlighting all the trips that we had booked and where they were. Breakfast was also great. Again, friendly staff offering you a warm welcome and a hot drink when you arrive along with plenty of choice for a light breakfast before your day ahead. The roof top terrace and bar was another fab addition where you could watch the sun go down with a welcomed drink. All in all, if we ever came back to Rome we would definitely return here for the welcome and service we received. Thank you for the stay!

Located just off the main road and tucked away from the traffic it is a quiet place to rest. Don't be fooled by its modest exterior, it is not a modern hotel but it is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The rooms are not huge but the bathrooms are clean and looked after.
We travelled with 2 kids (18 and 15) and the hotel was able to give us 2 adjacent rooms on request. The trip was for an 18th birthday and the hotel kindly gave us rooms with a terrace each.
The roof terrace was a game changer, we managed to be up there for sunset over Rome and it was beautiful.
All of that however is nothing compared to the team that run the hotel. They made us feel so welcome and the advice and passion they bring is next level.
All this, and a 10 minute walk puts you right at the heart of Rome and the Colosseum.

We will return.

Excellent hotel, close to Colosseum and Roman Forum. Other tourist attractions such as the Pantheon are easily accessible by public transport or walking if you like a longer walk. The hotel is very clean, the staff are really friendly and helpful with information for getting around the local area. The breakfast was a lovely continental option with plenty to choose from. We will definitely be back

What a lovely stay we had. We arrived late in Rome due to flight delay and were meant to have a driver to take us to the hotel but due to our lateness no driver was there…… one quick phone call to the hotel an 10 minutes later a driver arrived. Great first impressions of the customer service.
Staff at check in were incredibly friendly and helpful, even sorting us out a little nightcap.
Room was small but spotless and had everything you could need. Serviced every day at your convenience.
Breakfast was beautiful. Fresh and delicious every morning.
Location of this hotel is brilliant ….. easy walking to all attractions but set off the beaten track for peaceful sleep
All in all we had a great stay and would totally recommend to anyone coming to visit Rome .

An enjoyable stay in a quiet location. All staff were welcoming and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice but a bit more variety would have been welcome.

We enjoyed our stay here. The location was good, the staff friendly and the room was warm and comfortable. There was plenty of choice for breakfast including some gluten free options.
