check in up stairs, lifts up more stairs, pool down some stairs - this is not a historic building, its a purpose built modern (and unattractive) hotel. No AC and commercial glass bin collection taking place at 6.45am just outside the open windows. breakfast okay but items missed from fixed 'full Scottish' and waitress uninterested. Very good location good - but hotel expensive for just a standard tourist offer.
Very helpful staff. They gave us recommendations for what to do while in the city, booked a taxi as needed, and got us extra milk for tea. Room was clean, bed was big. I also appreciated the water fountain in the hall. Great location for walking around the city. We would definitely stay here again, but would book in advance enough to get a room with views of the castle!
buen hotel, habitación amplia, buena Wi fi, limpia y muy agradable
tener cuidado que la ciudad requiere subir varias calles en pendiente para llegar al hotel
Our stay started off very well. The gentleman who checked us in was incredibly kind and welcoming, and we paid for our rooms in full before ever receiving our keys. The rooms were nice enough, the restaurant food was good, and overall we enjoyed our stay… until checkout.
Before leaving for our early flight, I received an email from the hotel and the app clearly showed a zero balance with the option to check out digitally. Since we were on a tight schedule, we used the app to check out and began leaving the hotel. Unfortunately, once I completed checkout through the app, the virtual receipt disappeared, so I was unable to pull it back up to show them when the issue started.
As we were heading out, we were chased down the stairs by the woman at the front desk accusing us of not paying for our rooms. We repeatedly explained that we had already paid and had checked out through the hotel’s own app, but she continued arguing with us. After about 15 stressful minutes, I remembered I had a paper receipt packed away in my luggage and had to unpack everything to find it. Even after producing the receipt, it still wasn’t enough for her and she called another employee over.
What was most disappointing was the complete lack of apology or professionalism afterward. We were treated rudely, delayed when we were already rushing to catch a flight, and left feeling embarrassed and frustrated despite having done absolutely nothing wrong. It completely overshadowed the positive parts of our stay. Unfortunately, because of how checkout was handled, we will never stay here again.
Had a really good stay at this hotel, the atmosphere was peaceful and everything felt well organized. The room was neat, comfortable, and equipped with all the basic amenities. Staff were friendly and always ready to help when needed. Service was mostly smooth, with just a minor delay at check-in.
The hotel was undergoing renovation and we had men working on our window on a construction scaffolding and making noise.
Fire Alarm goes off at 9pm. Kids have to get woke up and carried out to the street. I asked reception next morning WHY. He didn’t know.
Very centrally located. Good for a short stay
