The Sea Ranch Lodge

The location is fabulous. Quiet, scenic, Close to a nice beach and lots of good hiking, and fun spots nearby like Gualala and Point Arena. Food at Sea ranch is good too, but overpriced and not many dinner options if you aren't able to get a reservation at the lodge.

I had a fabulous dinner tonight. Christine, our server, was simply amazing. Christine explained exactly how various dishes were sourced and prepared.

The location and grounds are spectacular but management and service issues clouded our stay. For 5 star prices we got 2 star service. Ch class in and checkout so slow despite no line. WiFi very poor. We had three rooms for family…one had no screens in the windows so could not be opened due to bugs etc. When asked about they blamed rowdy previous guests and they did not inform us of the issue when we checked in. Manager gave us a room discount after we complained. Breakfast package is marginal. Food is from a small cafe and has very limited choices and same few choices every day.they send links to contact them in case of any issue after staff leaves in early evening but really nothing available if you need something after hours. Dinner was really lovely in the restaurant.
Only received email itemized bill after checkout on two of the three rooms. Just not really good management or systems in place given the premium price they ask. Loved our stay in the area but would not stay at lodge again. It’s way overpriced for what you get.

We celebrated our daughter’s wedding at Sea Ranch Lodge in April 18-19 2026 and it was amazing. The rooms were beautiful — modern, peaceful, and perfectly in tune with the ocean views. Our guests loved staying there.

The team was also incredibly supportive of our South Indian wedding traditions. They helped us set up the spaces we needed and were so respectful and flexible with all the cultural details.

And the nature… honestly, it made the whole weekend feel magical. The cliffs, the ocean, the wildflowers — it all became part of the celebration. We couldn’t have asked for a more stunning or welcoming place for our family’s big weekend.

Beautiful and very relaxing stay. The location is absolutely stunning and the grounds are pristine. The staff is wonderful. The restaurant on the property has excellent food and good service. My only complaint there is that the common lounge / rec room area is located right next to part of the restaurant and if you get seated at the tables next to that area, it can be loud and distracting if there are children and their families hanging out there, playing games etc. Ask to be seated in the main dining area if you want to avoid this. The bar is also lovely and a great place to have a drink or even eat a meal. The room we stayed in was on the second floor and had an amazing view of the ocean and surrounding landscape. The room was also quiet, very clean, and well appointed. Overall really nice stay and highly recommend the "splurge" to stay for a few days.

We had our wedding at The Sea Ranch Lodge!! It was the best day with amazing service all weekend. We did not buy out the lodge to keep it private and the public guests that were around the property on the day of were very respectful and sweet. Food is great, nice amenities!! Our dog was with us and had a great time as well.

Our experience producing a photoshoot at Sea Ranch was absolutely seamless from start to finish. The entire team was incredibly accommodating, making the logistics effortless and allowing us to focus fully on the creative. Every direction we turned revealed another stunning backdrop...the grounds are truly beautiful throughout.

We felt completely at ease moving about the property as needed and were able to take full advantage of the many gorgeous nooks and crannies that make this place so special. It’s a rare location that feels both expansive and intimate at the same time.

I’m so grateful for the experience and hope to have the opportunity to return someday.

The Sea Ranch Lodge was such an incredible experience! My business partner and I had our annual summit there and used the Redwood Room to hold our 2-day meeting. We were met with calmness and focus that I think we could only get at a place like Sea Ranch. Our business is design-focused, so the heritage of Sea Ranch played a big part in our decision to have our summit there. The recent renovation was perfectly executed. The food and amenities match the quality of design.

What a wonderful place! Even in its original 1960s format the Lodge and its surroundings feel timeless and so up to date with sustainability and nature at its core. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and the outlook yards from the Pacific Ocean is breathtaking. We busted in a wet February day and immediately felt warm welcome and relaxed. The trails are beautiful and if it's too wet there are yoga mats in the rooms, comfortable seating areas in th main lodge and a well stocked bar area. The restaurant is sublime and the seasonal locally sourced food is to die for.

The 3 star review is based on expectations for a property with these rates. I expected more. I guess they get to charge these rates because they are the only game in town. The room was nice, ocean view was lovely. Beds and pillows were not very comfortable . They have single ply toilet paper, seems cheap.

Check in took 25 minutes even though there was not a line. They use an app for the room key which was really annoying. We had to download the app. The initial link they sent did not work so we had to go back to reception for them to redo. They failed to send the preregistration link to us, so we had to do it there. Registration is on line. What do you do if you don’t have a smart phone?

Booking the reservation was difficult because we had a gift card. We had to send a photo of the gift card to them. We could not book on line, so it involved multiple emails.

The whole process was too involved.

Stars at night are intense

Sea Ranch Lodge has a truly beautiful setting that feels like a real getaway. Check-in was easy and the complimentary glass of rosé was a nice, thoughtful touch. I also loved the freebies in the room, and the on-site store was well stocked with curated products. The restaurant was a standout—the food was excellent—though you should make a reservation early if you want to be sure you can eat there.
