Southernmost Beach Resort and Guesthouses

Wow! A beautiful location to hang out with beautiful weather. We stayed for 3 nights at the off-property house on Duval. It was a short walking distance from everything. We enjoyed the hotel breakfast every morning. The accommodations and the food were fabulous. The only issues were the check-in and check-out. Be ready for long waits at peak times. Hopefully, they remedy that situation very soon. Other than that hiccup, all way great. We will stay again on our next visit.

We arrived on December 23, 2025, after a long drive from Miami, only to find out that our 4-night reservation had a check-in date of December 22!! The resort was packed and we had nowhere to go. Apparently, we became a "no-show"! We were shocked, how could this have happened?? ANNETTE, at the front desk, worked very hard to help us and after a long process of juggling, was able to get my family (4 of us, 2 adults & 2 adult children) a room. I am not sure why we were never notified about a check-in on Dec 22 from the resort, but nonetheless, we had paid an extra day and did not get to use it and what's worse, almost lost our entire reservation. Annette, however, ensured that we not only still had a place to stay, but she was able to include a breakfast onsite that included the most beautiful view each morning. Annette was resourceful and turned a bad experience into a great one! This was our only "gift", so we are forever grateful for the help. The place was amazing. Very friendly staff. Awesome pool bars with entertainment. Food was great. Nice beach area. Not one complaint.

Upon entering our third floor partial view king room (Room 4307), we had a most impressive sun filled view of the Atlantic Ocean, the pier by the Southernmost Buoy, and South Beach (a part of the resort) which we were able to take in all while lying on the bed. It really got our stay off on the right foot along with the fact the resort was able to have our room ready a couple hours early; being able have them hold our bags until we checked in was a plus as well, given our morning arrival. Everything about our stay, our room and the resort surpassed our expectations. The room was clean throughout and appeared to be well maintained. The balcony was adequate in size for the two of us and included two wide chairs and a small table. The bathroom and shower were large and the shower provided hot water quickly which never ran cold. Housekeeping was great working around our daily schedule and always had fresh towels for us. Yes, you will hear the occasional rooster throughout the day in addition to early morning hours but keeping the AC fan on constant along with the background noise setting on my iphone made for a good night's rest on the very comfortable bed and pillows. All of the staff were professional, courteous, efficient, and friendly. Bhakti, a Reservation agent at the resort was phenomenal. He spent considerable time on the phone over two separate calls explaining available options at the resort should our flight home be cancelled (Jan 26th). Fortunately, it wasn't needed, but it was comforting to know we had a back-up plan in place made possible by Bhakti's efforts. The resort itself is at the quieter end of Duval which we preferred; we enjoyed walking everywhere during our week stay and never required the need of a car other than an Uber to and from of the airport ($20 per trip including tip). The Sunset Cruise on the Argo Navis was perfect and our favorite experience. Other favorites included the Little White House tour, Sunset Pier, Fort Zachary Taylor SP, Hemmingway Home, Shipwreck Museum, and the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. Walking all the way up or down Duval (1.2 miles) took us about 20-25 minutes at most and something we did several times, but bike cabs or rental bikes were readily available everywhere. We didn't have a bad dining experience anywhere. Moondog Cafe (Pulled Pork Benny and desserts), La Grignote (French Toast), Happy Hour at Onlywood Pizzeria (on alley off of Duval), Banana Cafe (Banana Fosters Waffle), Hog's Breath Saloon, La Trattoria, SM Beach Cafe (pancakes), and Seaside Cafe (Lobster pizza) were all good. One last note: if you have a sweet tooth and enjoy cookies, Mattheeson's has a thick 6"+ wide cookie topped with a layer of fudge and chocolate icing ($12). I had one on two separate occasions. I wish I had one right now.

This place is amazing! So much stuff to do each day and wow the staff are so friendly. The guest rooms are very large with great balcony views.

Southernmost is a 10/10- the grounds are so well kept, the rooms are clean and the staff are always so lovely- thank you, Lazona! The multiple pools and location make it an ideal stay for couples, friends and families. We look forward to returning soon!

Absolute best place to stay in Key West! We have stayed at a few other places over the years, and decided to stay here this time… we will never stay anywhere else. From check in until checkout, the entire experience was amazing. The property is beautiful, with your choice of multiple pools and private beach access. The room was clean and updated. The bed was very comfortable. Our favorite part was the Shores pool and bar. Live music every day, the heated pool, and the great bar for drinks and bites. The bartender, Amine made sure to take extremely good care of us and would serve us poolside, so we didn’t even have to leave the pool to get something! We even saw him outside of the resort a couple times and he made sure to come up, say hi, and give a handshake or fist bump. We absolutely loved our stay, the resort, the people, and everything that comes with the Southernmost!

Great trips with friends! The staff from check in to check out were super accommodating and friendly. Rooms were super clean, entertainment throughout the resort daily which was a plus. I would recommend this resort to everyone! Can't wait to come back!

I’ve been coming to Key West for over 20 years. I’ve stayed in over a dozen hotels & resorts. This is, by far, the BEST place I’ve EVER stayed! We stayed in the Tortuga building with a partial oven view. The room was clean & huge with a nice size balcony. The grounds are immaculate! 3 pools, all with different vibes! We especially enjoyed the Shores pool & bar. Amine, the bartender, was great! He made sure all of our drinks were cold and full lol. If you’re reading this review, trust me, STAY HERE! You won’t regret it! I can’t wait to come and stay here again! Shout out to the entire staff for making our vacation such a memorable one!

This my second stay here and I am not sure I will stay again. Our room is off property on Duval, a 10 min walk. I was unaware when booking, no elevator if u need one. Dont book the duval garden room… u can hear every word your next door neighbor says. There are not enough lounge chairs at pool or beach, so u have to get there very early to put your things down. Im not sure why i was charged a resort fee.
They have a nice beach. The hotel is a nice location. We were underwhelmed to say the least.

Very pleased with location, service, room-view, cleanliness . Communication amazing and if a question you txt and get answer immediately. We were located very close to pool/bar area which was quite nice as well as for sunset view. All landscaping beautiful and well kept. Bar prices and food a little expensive but expected in "Resort environment".
If ever return to Key West would only stay here!

Fun, clean the restaurants were amazing. Bartenders at the Pineapple pool were great! We stayed in tranquility, would recommend beach front rooms. A few electrical issues in our room, like lights not working. Annette at the front desk is AMAZING. Text system works really well, all requests completed within an hour.

I loved this resort and chose it for its walkability (no rental car needed!,) ocean views, and beach access (not easy to find on Key West.) Annette at the front desk made sure I received a quiet, top floor room with a partial view of the ocean. I appreciated her time; and noticed all guests seemed to be treated with similarly focused attention. My room, view, and balcony had wonderful, tropical getaway vibes, with beautiful views of palm trees, landscaping, and the ocean. From the moment I walked into my room, I was delighted: the decor was beautiful & high-end, in soothing colors. It was so nice to also have an in-room espresso maker, stocked daily; and a small refrigerator. A safe is hidden in the dresser. The bathroom was spotless and spacious, with high-end tile, lighting, and cabinetry. My room was cleaned daily (privacy sign is respected.) You can choose pool areas with upbeat music; or the Tranquility pool, which is blissfully quiet and perfect for reading (exchanged novels out at a neighborhood Little Library on Galveston, near Simonton and Olivia.) The Beach Bar staff (3 locations) did a great job with my orders: delicious food and drinks, right on site. I love to play pickleball; this resort is a short 10-minute walk (if that) to the public pickleball courts across the street from Higgs Beach! A nice crowd; you just put your paddle in the rack (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) and play! A bit further down the beach is the Key West Garden Club, a peaceful oasis with beautiful flowers, orchids, and sculptural elements. I personally found the resort to be walking distance to any restaurant or cultural spot I wished to visit! Try the Lobster Shack for Lobster Bisque; Frenchie's Cafe for delicious quiche (huge slice,) spinach ricotta danish, or Key Lime Pie (the best I had.) Also enjoyed a black and blue (steak) salad from the Bananas Cafe: all these are basically across the street. In short: I highly recommend Southernmost Beach Resort for a peaceful, beautiful, warm, and luxurious tropical getaway!

Great location with their own beach with beach chairs and umbrellas. Our room was pristine and our room attendant Khailah was wonderful. The beach attendant moved chairs for us and provided useful tips to enhance our experience. The beach restaurant had great food. There is an adult only pool which is nice for quiet reading. We were able to walk to all of the attractions we wanted to see.
Bathroom was clean and roomy.

Hands down the place to stay in the Keys, but the real stars of our ladies trip were Mansur aka Max, and John aka Pretty eyes ;).

These two basically on-demand magic. They drove us anywhere, and picked us up at the drop of a hat, made us laugh non stop and somehow managed to feel like professional chauffeurs, tour guides, and honorary members of our group all at once. We felt totally safe, taken care of and very entertained all at once. The local tips alone were worth the stay.

Im happily married, but I would absolutely come back just to see these two again. If Max and Pretty eyes are working, you're in the best hands in Key West!

Five stars, zero hesitation

We spent a long weekend here for a 50th birthday party. Very age appropriate resort. Great location, lots to walk to. Accommodations felt like a Marriott courtyard plus bars and light blue/white paint.
$75 daily resort fee (inc tax) for what? Music by the pool. No fitness classes or ordering from lounge chairs. We had fun at happy hour Bingo at Avalon guest house at hotel. Kristi and Amy are amazing activity directors - so much fun. Our “deluxe king” room which I thought was garden view had a wall a/c that sounded like a jet engine and we faced the hotel driveway/entrance. Poor water pressure. We were also across from the housekeeping closet which was noisy with workers. The roosters woke us early every morning! . “Pool view” can mean parking lot view so no need to get that. Be in the know: The Duval guest house is .2 miles from the hotel with windows facing the Main Street. 2 city block walk to the hotel for pool, etc.
Overall, we enjoyed the location and the age appropriateness. The accommodations were just ok. The lobster shack next door is so yummy!

We booked six rooms based on misleading photos and claims of renovation. Duval Gardens was distant, dirty, and unacceptable. Staff—especially Lazona and concierge Julie Rodriguez—were excellent and resolved issues. However, even upgraded rooms were worn, with poor water pressure and loud, ineffective air conditioning. Will never stay here again.

Fantastic resort & staff! Everything was within walking distance from our room. The breakfast each morning was amazing! We will be back!

We loved our stay at the Southernmost Beach Resort. Everything we needed was right there. We received excellent assistance from the front desk manager Ann Marie. It’s such a calm and relaxing oasis in a very lively town.

We stayed one night in the old section of the resort and four nights in ocean view new area. Both have their perks. The decor is the same and it is convenient to everything. But we wanted an ocean view and it did not disappoint! And it is much more modern and spacious with wonderful views. If that is import to you , make sure you book accordingly. Annette was fantastic in helping us! The whole staff is great. Be kind to them! They get slammed all day and are always eager to go above and beyond.
