The Wayfarer San Diego

We always stay at the Wayfarer and we once again had a great stay. Staff is helpful and friendly and room is clean. The ocean front room is fabulous.

This was my second stay at the Wayfarer San Diego and again, the stay was fantastic. We had an oceanfront room and the view was amazing. The location is right in the middle of everything within walking distance...ocean walk, beach, restaurants, shops, and convenient to USS Midway, La Jolla, Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs, etc. if you want to drive a little. Room, common areas, and pool are all kept clean and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The on site cafe and the stocked store was nice too. If I make it to San Diego again, I'll stay at the Wayfarer.

Incredible location. The view from the pool is perfect. We loved being a close walk to so many restaurants, shops and food stands. All of the staff was excellent, very friendly and accommodating! If we visit San Diego again in the future, we would definitely stay here again.

This is my second time staying at the Wayfarer Hotel, and it never disappoints. The staff is so friendly and accessible. The location is great. You’re right on the beach. The rooms are very clean. They equipped you with enough towels and extra blankets. The noise level of the hotel was very quiet at night. I shared a room next-door to some family members, and I never even heard them.

The atmosphere is very pleasant and easy-going. If you’re looking for a direct Hotel on the strand, this is the one for you and your family. I was able to get great pricing for our stay this spring break. If you’re looking for bike rentals, or surfing equipment you’re able to find it all there. You’re very close to some really great breakfast and dinner spots. Not to mention, you are 20 minutes away from the zoo, 15 minutes for Seaworld. It’s a great central spot to be.

The Wayfarer is great! We traveled as a family of 4 and I was worried the double queen room would be too small but the room was spacious. We had a balcony and could see the ocean. It was clean & the staff was accommodating. We rented bikes to explore the area which was a nice option. Had a mini fridge for drinks, Loved the pool area & hot tub. Great amenities & right on the beach!

I would not recommend. This really is a motel, not a hotel.

The hotel has seedy foot traffic in the area, which is not abnormal for PB but this place needs to step up its security. During the stay, a male stranger knocked on our door and asked to use our bathroom. We called security and they said they would walk the halls.

The hallway elevator was very banged up and dirty. The pool deck had trash on it. We had to request room cleaning even though there were several cleaning staff members on our floor outside our door all day. This felt like a motel, not a hotel.

The cafe was overpriced and the staff member got our order wrong, she said she would issue a refund for charging us for the wrong order. She seemed pretty out of it.

There was also a seedy man loitering near the entrance to the hotel building. Turns out he was affiliated with the front desk staff but he was skulking around. Very odd experience.

The room was clean when we checked in. And the staff was polite.

Excellent location to enjoy the local beach, restaurants and shops. Pool is right on the boardwalk so great for people watching. Everyone is having fun

This is my "go to" accommodation for the San Diego area. Mission Beach is wonderful and the Wayfarer is absolutely the BEST!. Nice amenities, staff, rooms and location. Sleeping with the sliding doors open and hearing the ocean waves is better than any sleep sound machine. On tip: If you have a lot of devices to plug in, like I need, bring along an extension cord with multiple outlets on the end of it. No issue with the Wayfarer, but since they provide a lot of appliances you may need an extra plug or two.

If you are looking to be a few steps away from the beach, this is it! The room was nice. Everything you needed is within walking distance. There are rentals available if needed too such as bikes, beach towels, boogie boards, umbrellas. The hot tub and pool were great! The whole experience was amazing!

Hotel was very clean, staff and management very friendly. Location was perfect, right off the Mission Beach boardwalk. We had a wonderful time and I would stay there again if we come back to SD.

This is a Best Western with lipstick the remodel is already showing signs of wear. We had no hot water for our stay and the hotel acted like it was a new thing. Found out later from maintenance the entire floor didn’t have hot water. All the rooms near the pool can hear every word from below. Adults drinking while yelling at their kids across the pool. They drowned out the sound of the ocean. Would never stay here again.

Great spot! Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Pool and hot tub location were great with a great view of the ocean. Easy access to the beach. My family and I loved it and discussed going back as soon as we left

My family and I have been coming here for years. You can’t beat the location. The hotel is nice and staff are amazing, with excellent customer service. Pool and hot tub are always a hit, and the beach just a few steps away. The boardwalk is fun to walk to great shopping and restaurants. We captured the best sunset here!

The Ocean View rooms are immaculate. This is a well maintained property that is RIGHT on the beach. It is a good atmosphere for families, couples, friend groups, or solo travelers. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and you can't beat the location.

We love the location of the Wayfarer. It's a quick walk to the beach and there are many good restaurants in the area. The staff is very friendly especially Mike at the front desk. The rooms are older but they are clean. There is a small cafe that makes great coffee. I was lucky enough as a member to plan my trip during one of their sales. Great deal for a place right on the beach. We will be back!

We enjoyed our stay at The Wayfarer. The location is amazing!! Right on Pacific Beach. The sunsets are breath-taking! Close walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The experience could be improved with TVs that allow you you access to streaming services.

I swear no matter when we go to San Diego it's ALWAYS literally picture perfect weather. We thought it was going to be rainy and cold and when we got there we were happy to once again have perfect weather. Good thing we stayed at our favorite San Diego hotel, the Wayfarer, so we could take advantage of the sunshine and sunsets on the beach. We are well always taken care of by the great staff at the Wayfarer and would highly recommend!!

The rooms with ocean view were spectacular, Stephanie and Aaron at the front desk and all the staff were warm and helpful. Staff responded to our every request in a prompt and thorough way. Coffee at the Zephyr cafe is great-- and they also have some good nibbles in the morning. They accommodated our large family with multiple toddlers well. The hot tub was wonderful, as was the pool. A beautiful section of the beach could not have been closer.

The major attraction here is its location: whether you pay for an ocean view room or not, you will have instant access to the sand, water, boardwalk fun, and festive vibe of Pacific Beach steps from the front door. Very charming lobby, warm and comfortable. Lots of great restaurant options abound. We asked about restaurant recommendations, and staff had a few ideas but could have provided more information, Ilke whether or not a reservation is needed. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Zephyr Cafe has very, very few options: coffee WAS delicious but the baked goods were stale. To get to the first floor of our building, we had to climb some steep stairs because the ADA elevator was not working. Staff offered no information or accommodations for this, and it was a struggle for one of our guests who has arthritis. Finally, parking fee was obscenely high, no doubt because we are a captive audience. All in all, modestly priced rooms in a prime location are the major draw.
