It was very close to all the restaurants and quick trip into the centre of Rome. The roof top bar was lovely.
The fridge was not cold and it would have been nice to be able to make a cup of tea or coffee in our room.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The staff was very welcoming and the room was clean. It was a quiet street, nearby Trestavere.
The aircondition made a lot of noise, but besides that, every else was perfect.
The breakfast was also lovely! Especially the coffee!

Hotel San Francesco is now my default Rome hotel, full stop — and after a stay during a heat wave with the heat index near 40°C, that's not a casual endorsement.
The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with a spacious bath and a genuinely comfortable bed. The AC deserves specific praise: it held the room comfortably cool through the hottest parts of the day and overnight, which given the conditions outside was not a given. We had a courtyard view that was pleasant rather than spectacular, but it added to the quiet. Wifi signal was strong throughout.
The rooftop bar is a real differentiator, not just a marketing line — open 6:00 to 11:30 for drinks and light meals, with views over the Roman skyline and, at night, a clear shot of the stars and moon. Staff were relaxed about letting us bring a laptop up and work through email over a glass of wine at the end of the day, which is the kind of small accommodation that tells you how a hotel actually treats guests versus how it markets itself.
Location is excellent: Trastevere, near Ai Marmi and the cluster of small restaurants by the river, close to the bridge onto Isola Tiberina, with easy walking or tram access into the historic center. Elevator and stairs both available. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and for the quality of the room, the value was strong. Breakfast service was a nice touch, not an afterthought. Rick Steves' recommendation of this property is accurate in my experience.
We'll be back on our next trip to Rome — no hesitation recommending this to anyone weighing options in Trastevere. We booked directly, which was reciprocated with a great rate.
