2.5 stars out of 5
The hotel itself is set in a stunning location, with spectacular sea views that really are the highlight of the resort. The food was good, varied, and consistently enjoyable, and the drinks were also very nice.
The mini disco and animation team were fantastic with the children — warm, energetic, and genuinely engaging. Our girls especially adored Martina, Francesca, and Eliza, who made a huge positive impact on their holiday.
At the start of the week, before half term began, the atmosphere around the hotel was calm and relaxed. However, from Friday onwards there was a large influx of weekend guests arriving in big groups, which completely changed the overall environment and experience at the resort.
Unfortunately, this was when many of the issues began.
The pool area itself was pleasant initially, but during the final days of our stay the cleanliness noticeably deteriorated. The water became murky with visible suncream residue, and on one occasion we even saw lumps of phlegm floating in the pool, which was extremely unpleasant.
What upset us most during our stay, however, was the very obvious difference in treatment between Spanish guests and non-Spanish guests. As a group of eight, we politely asked if we could move a few outdoor dining tables together so we could eat as a family. We were abruptly told “absolutely not” and given no explanation other than “it’s the rules.” We also requested to reserve tables in advance due to the size of our party, which was again refused.
Yet throughout the weekend we repeatedly watched Spanish guests being allowed to reserve tables and move furniture freely to suit their groups. The contrast in treatment was impossible to ignore and left us feeling extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. By the end of the stay, it genuinely felt discriminatory.
One particularly upsetting incident occurred at the bar involving a barman named Jorge. I had been waiting several minutes alongside another guest when he came out from the back and greeted me. I politely asked for two drinks and was told the bar was closed. I simply smiled and responded that perhaps a sign would help, then said goodbye and began to walk away. He then called me back over and told me to wait.
At that point, he began speaking to the other woman at the bar in Spanish while gesturing towards me. She turned around, looked directly at me, and smirked while continuing the conversation in Spanish. It was incredibly uncomfortable and humiliating. He then proceeded to make the drinks I had originally requested. The entire interaction left me feeling mocked and singled out, to the extent that I avoided the upper pool bar for the remainder of the holiday.
The accommodation itself was also very disappointing. The rooms are extremely dated, with concerning electrical issues throughout. The beds were so hard they genuinely felt like concrete, we actually found the sun loungers more comfortable and regularly napped there instead. We also couldn’t use the hairdryer without tripping the electrics.
The bathrooms were in poor condition, with messy silicone work throughout, a sink hanging away from the wall, and a toilet that made a loud screaming noise every time it was flushed.
The ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms also appeared dangerous. When switched on it shook violently and moved around so aggressively that we were genuinely worried it could detach from the ceiling and injure someone.
Once the bar closes there is no access to drinking water unless guests prepare in advance by stockpiling cups of water in their rooms beforehand. Strangely, guests are also not permitted to fill their own water bottles.
The room allocations also seemed poorly thought out. One member of our party was frustrated that their family of four was allocated the exact same living space as the single traveller in our group, with the lounge area doubling as a bedroom.
When our family of three arrived at our bungalow, there was only a double bed prepared in the bedroom and no sleeping arrangement whatsoever for our daughter. We had to improvise using pushed-together sofa cushions along with her travel pillow and plane blanket so she could sleep on the first night. Housekeeping corrected this the following day, but it should never have been overlooked in the first place.
Despite all of the above, we still managed to have a lovely holiday thanks to the beautiful weather and the company we were with. A holiday is ultimately what you make of it. However, had we not been such positive and easy-going people, several aspects of this experience, particularly the treatment we received compared to Spanish guests, could easily have ruined the trip entirely.
Amazing animation team lots of activities food was great although my boyfriend wasn’t keen on breakfast as was colder than uk cooked breakfast. but i loved the food good selection my mum loves rice pudding. snacks free for all inclusive guests. beachfront location although some rocks in places but i didn’t mind. lots of walking as big complex evening entertainment was good acrobatic act one night. kids pools up the top. great stay!
no air con in apartments only fan i didn’t mind but you can tell a refurb is due to modernise the apartments
