Everything. They don’t clean the rooms, staff rude, rooms small
This part of Hartford is scary at the night honestly.. Breakfast was disastrous, room was not clean, overall bad experience, would not recommend..
Great location, free parking and a beautiful view from the room.
The gym is too basic, an update could make it better.
Staff are rude especially front desk are not welcoming and sarcastic. The water in the shower is dirty and doesn't have hot option.
Terrible terrible and just horrendous. Outside carpet leading to the room was very sticky and tacky. A first sign of what lay in store. Inside carpet hasnt been cleaned in quite some time. Stained and just plain dirty. Apparently there was a replacement of a main water line early that morning. No mention of that at check in. Made the nasty discovery when trying to take a shower later that night prior to going out for the evening. The water was spewing out sand and debris I just wanted to freshen up after having been walking around in the heat for a few hours prior to a show we had scheduled. Asked front desk when we returned. She then told us about the water line and to let the water run and it will clear. Did attempt for a solid 20-25 minutes. Still just dirty dirty sandy water. Gave up and went to bed. Obviously no shower in the morning in that grimy mess. Breakfast area was mostly gone and we were not super late. Arrived close to 8 am I’d say. Tiny scrap of scrambled eggs left. They did have yogurts and a few pastries which to be fair is pretty standard Would never in my life stay at the capitol hotel again asked for a partial refund based on our experience. I was declined. Just awful. Can’t say enough how disappointing this stay was
Customer service
Bathroom was unkept, hair strands in bathroom and sink in my new assigned room
The location across from the capital was nice.
I had strangers knocking on my door at night and a woman stopped me in the elevator to tell me to be careful. I felt like I was about to be trafficked out of this hotel. When I called the front desk from my cell phone they came up 10 minutes later and asked me if I knew the man standing at my door because he took off and ran when the front desk man got to my floor. I travel alone frequently and have never had this experience. The front desk did not offer to move me or provide any sort of security other than if something else happened they would call the police. The phone in the room did not work and I was scared for my safety all night. They also did not offer to refund my room so I could go stay somewhere else for the night.
Grimy, smelly room. The air smelled terrible and you can’t open a window. The AC unit was visibly dirty and there was visible mold on the walls near the window and in the bathroom.
Barely any toilet paper. Hard bed. Genuinely felt like this room was so gross it was going to make me sick. Couldn’t wait to leave. Extremely loud parking lot noise around 4am.
Worst hotel ever. Stayed for a soccer tournament. Had to park in a creepy underground lot - there were rats in the lot and in the parking area on the first floor outside the hotel. Three families left and found another hotel because their rooms were so dirty. Two rooms had showers that didn’t work. Pills on the floor in one room. Requested room cleaning every day - room was only cleaned one of 5 days. Cleaners were done by 11 each day - so if your room wasn’t cleaned by 11, it wasn’t getting cleaned. Had to empty our own trash, and get towels and toilet paper each day. They consistently ran out of towels and gave us bath mats to dry with. No tissues in rooms. One of the girls on the team had a TV fall off the wall onto her. While they did re-hang the TV, they did not apologize, tried to blame the girl (her parents were right there when the tv fell) and did not offer any compensation. Only one working ice machine in the hotel.
Honestly if you don’t NEED to come to Hartford, just skip it, it’s a sketchy city for sure and this hotel was in a rough little area. Many homeless and others outside made for an uncomfortable walk around. If it did not have the parking garage underground I would have just canceled the booking honestly. The front desk lady was awesome though.
Terrible city, terrible location, many unnerving residents around made me feel unsafe.
There is an obnoxious smell in the hallway and hotel room. The non carpeted side of the floor was sticky. The bathroom floor was sticky. The tub floor had what appeared to be black mold, the tub drain was clearly rotted and there was black mold on the ceiling. The staff switched my room to only encountered the same condition. The mattress was dirty with visible stains. The mattress was very uncomfortable.
Everything
No parking available in their own parking garage. The parking garage itself is tiny and difficult to get in and out of. No remote for the tv in the bedroom. I spoke with someone via telephone while I was there. He couldn't get me a remote or change rooms. He said to file a complaint with the website we booked through. Well, I wasn't able to do that so it left me frustrated.
Nothing, it was a hot mess!!
It a hole in the ceiling and the covers had holes in them and there was no heat in my hotel room !!
Room 708 has spectacular view of the park and Capital building. Nice hot scrambled eggs on breakfast buffet. Appreciated fresh apples and oranges. Next to the Railroad Station. Friendly, helpful staff.
Everything was ok or better, much to appreicate.
Was decent. View was great
Wish had turkey bacon or sausage.
