When we arrived it took 5 minutes for the desk attendant to arrive and check us in. Cards didn't work so had to go back down and stand in line, only one person on duty, so that was another 5 minutes. Hotel is showing signs of wear and need some attention.

Room description was king with sofa bed. There was no sofa bed for our children so we had to switch to two queens.
Ice machine was also broken so guests were scooping ice from a bag at the front desk.

I spent one night here with family while driving through South Dakota. We chose this place for the reasonable price. The rooms were clean but the place is in need of repair. Ice machines on all floors were broken so you have to go to the lobby to pour ice from a bag into your ice bucket.
Bathroom light fixture was missing- just lightbulbs sticking out of the socket.
Pool area was unpleasantly warm on a very hot day- yellowish film peeling off of the bottom of the pool. I would not have gone in the pool if we hadn’t promised the kids we would do so.

I love that this is an independent hotel and not another boring chain. The staff was great (especially when I dumped water from my cooler in the lobby!)The lobby and breakfast areas were beautiful and the room was clean and fit all of our needs.
I would have appreciated a gluten free option at breakfast. There wasn't much to eat. Also, we were told that the lights didn't work in the pool area! Once it got dark out it was not very safe to be in a pool with little kids with no lights in the pool itself or in the room.
Mattress was very comfortable.
Tub did not drain.

A place to stay before we ended up in Deadwood, SD. Nice room and comfortable bed. Decent shower.
The air conditioning didn't work right. I complained then we thought it was working but it only temporarily was working and by then we were ready for bed so stayed. My husband complained in the morning at the front desk and said she was sorry about it and thought the a/c had just been recently replaced but if it had it still didn't work. I love how she told us she would get it fixed for the next person yet didn't bother to offer any kind of discount. We will NOT stay here again.
