My recent stay at the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane was frustrating and far from deserving of its five-star label. I’ll begin by acknowledging the staff: they were genuinely warm, professional, and tried their best to help. Unfortunately, their kindness could not compensate for the hotel’s poor condition.
The rooms were in visible disrepair: stained carpets, torn headboards, and minimal amenities. These weren’t minor issues; they were glaring. Despite raising concerns with three staff members, all they offered was a room change—after we’d already settled in at the end of a long trip. No partial refund or rate adjustment was even considered, though we paid full price for two rooms.
To make matters worse, the shower swung from warm to freezing without any adjustment. When I confronted them, the excuse was that renovations are happening room by room. If that’s the case, renting out rooms in this condition is inexcusable. A five-star hotel should never treat guests this way—no matter how lovely the staff are.

I had an incredible experience of afternoon tea at The Park Lane Hotel Marriott, and I have to give a special shoutout to Vivian. His service was outstanding—he was so attentive, always ensuring we were comfortable, and truly went above and beyond. He was knowledgable, and humorous. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend, would return.
The Afternoon Tea we had there was ok but they didn’t replace the whole of the food when they messed up the order of our savoury food. So all the cakes etc.. were really warm and melted chocolate on the small cakes. They did look nice but had to wait ages for the correct savoury order.
We did get an apology from the manager and an extra glass of Prosecco each.

We had a themed afternoon tea. It was wonderful, would absolutely recommend. Our waiter, Vivian, was so attentive & kind. Really memorable & special day. Thank you to all the lovely staff.
It was brilliant experience, nearby shopping center, excellent services provided, food variety and halal food already available.
