Classic hotel in Teton Village but showing some age. Great location. One of the original buildings in Teton Village, this historical hotel has a Swiss chalet style charm. It is quirky and dated, but still so cool.
The breakfast was canceled due to a staff emergency. It would have been nice to get some voucher for the adjacent Cafe, which is located in the hotel.
We returned to the Alpenhof for our 4th time in the last 15 years. We have stayed at most of the Teton Village accommodations as well as several of the in town hotels. The Alpenhof has always been our favorite but this time was different. All the quaint cool things that made it special are gone. I assume the owners that had it have sold out and it is a much more corporate feel. The hot cookies after a day of skiing are gone, the free delicious breakfast with the best blueberry muffins is gone as well and we couldn’t even eat breakfast there because it was rented for private events the entire 5 days we were there. We only had services in the room one day out of 5. They always said they were slammed and just didn’t get to us. The tv has a short in it and only works part time and I tried to call the desk several times and nothing but crickets. They have a bad case of the do not cares. Now that said, the location is great in the village, the rooms are quiet and comfortable and it is one of the more affordable options on the mountain it is just not what it used to be.
Location
Bed was broken
Carpet stained
Tile broken
The location, location, location
Small hot tub. Frozen pool
The alpenhof has been a favorite place for my family to stay for years. Although it’s been 2 seasons since getting to stay here we were excited because of how great it had always been and the great value and service it provided. It used to have a great complimentary breakfast buffet with its rooms, warm cookies in the afternoons and a great alp style restaurant for lunch and dinner. It was also a cheaper option compared to adjacent lodging options. We come this year and it has been a severe disappointment. The staff was disengaged and all the former amenities that made the alpenhof a favorite has gone away. The price has gone up exponentially the last couple of years and they have gone down in service. I don’t mind paying more for good service, quality rooms and accommodations but now it just seems like another big corporate hotel that used to have a cool identity. It has definitely lost its charm and identity which is sad because of how great it once was.
Great location, old school alpine ski vibe. Cowboy Coffee on site is a great addition.
Location, Staff, and Cowboy Coffee
Hot water challenge one afternoon, and hot tub could have been hotter. Need to add a nicer ski/boot room.
The most charming and wonderful place to stay
I can't wait to return and stay for at least a week.
This hotel was booked solid. I could not get another night like I wanted.
location
The room was filthy- stained carpet. Took pictures of our view outside which was broken cables and garbage on the roof top. The window did not have a screen, yet the air conditioner blows right on your face in the bed. The bathrooms are outdated. Not only was our carpet dirty and stained, but the hotel carpet has not been updated, stained and worn. Would not recommend
Loved the location and staff
Weak internet, not many electric plugs
Location
Awkward layout having to walk up stairs to get to the elevator
This was a grand expenditure in the heart of Teton village. The food reminded me of the cuisine my Austrian aunt used to make back home. What a great place. Their portions are as big as your head and do not lack in flavor. The service is astute, I would liken it to the great service at the nearby Mangy Moose. Might I say this is in competition for best Teton village restaurant? The mangy moose is still top tier, but the alpenhof is worth your Benjamins if you have them.
This restaurant has been a family favourite for 30+ years, with their fondue being the highlight.
Unfortunately our dinner experience was so poor that we will not be returning.
The Fondue was… not a fondue. It tasted like it had been reconstituted from a freeze dried, long life army ration bag.
What has happened?
Our table remained uncleared to the end of the meal. We were one of 2 tables in the restaurant, so it was not a busy evening.
Honestly, we couldn’t be more disappointed.
Not only was the food poor, but the hotel looks like it needs a huge investment to bring it back to life.
With such a great location, you’d expect it to be buzzing, yet it was so quiet, a rolling tumble weed would not have been out of place.
I guess we did not get the memo that the once-lovely Alpenhof has lost its way.
In dire need to updating. The outside looks charming in an Alps kind of way but the interior, halls and our room were depressing and worn. Our rooms smell musty which we shared with the front desk staff but no other rooms were available. Fortunately, we only stayed in the room to sleep but had to leave the slider open and run the AC Fan (had to move the table in the room to access it) at night in order to keep the room air fresh and it was about 35 degrees out that night. It's not inexpensive, but it should be. Oh, and we had no view. Close to the entrance to the park, so that was good.
No!
Although the hotel is dated, we felt that’s what gives it character. It’s like staying in old Europe/Austria. We loved our stay. Service by Lydia and Alexia was wonderful. And being immediately adjacent to the Jackson Hole tram and ski lifts was excellent. Lots of great restaurants in Teton Village, including the Tram Grill itself. Mandzy and Norma-Jean were excellent servers there. We’ll be back to do Jackson Hole again at the Alpenhof.
Everything was great
This hotel looks way better from the outside. The inside furnishings and bedding and bathrooms are clean but somewhat out of date. The carpets are disgusting throughout the hotel and it was challenging to let our grandkids go around with bare feet. The rooms do not have microwaves, so our plan for dinner was shot. We had to microwave our meals down in one little microwave just off the lobby. They said the pool was open but then there was a sign that said it was not. The hot tub was fine though.
