Amazing location and ambiance. Loved many things about the room and many of the interactions with the staff were great.
Shower looks like it is never cleaned. Room did not get cleaned one day and they could not do it once reported.
Both times I had to report issues to the from desk, the first thing the front did was blame us for having do not disturb sign on door... even though we did not have the sign on the door. I am not sure why their first instinct is to blame guest other than just trying to understand and solve issues.
I like that the staff cooperated and let us bring our electric bikes inside
Aba was especially helpful.
I did not like when you walked out.The front doors, there were two really quick steps, and people would fall coming out of the hotel.
Very nice and elegant hotel, ideal for visiting Washington. Kind and helpful staff
Location and the design style of hotel, big beds with an office desk,
Service in general very lovely. We just check in late and there was a misunderstanding with the room occupancy- the room we got was already in use when we tried to check in the guest were sleeping. Just lucky they locked the door from the inside. Can happen and not a disaster because the late night security guy was very helpful. But staff still was amazing!
Location
Rooms need some additional amenities for the price. Otherwise OK.
Could not have been happier to stay here. Were her for 4 nights, we had a very nice Robert Mills suite. Lots of space, corner room so lots of views. Breakfast was very tasty, we are early risers, so the 7 am start Monday through Friday was great. For your information, Saturday and Sunday they don’t open until 9 am. Most of the Smithsonian’s don’t open until 10, so if that is on your agenda, don’t worry. One is right across the street, the American Art Museum and Portrait Gallery. They don’t open until 11:30?, but stay open later than most, until 7 pm. That was not in our plans, but since it was right there, went over and we were glad we did. Coffee is out by 6:30 every morning, which is nice. Staff could not have been more pleasant, and waiters in the restaurant were great.
Clean. Staff friendly
Having to walk to the ice machine.
I chose this hotel based on proximity to Capital One Arena, and it was perfect for attending an event there – an easy walk across the street, no hassle with traffic or rideshares.
The hotel is a historic old building, nicely redone. Our room had a tiny closet but lots of drawers, a usable refrigerator, and basic amenities. There was only one robe, no slippers and no coffee equipment; on request, we were able to get a second robe and a coffee maker. Two bottles of water were provided, but not replenished during our stay. The room was huge and generally comfortable, though I didn’t like the bouncy synthetic pillows. One major flaw, however, was that half the blackout lining was missing from the curtain beside the bed – it looked like it had been damaged and instead of replacing it, they just cut off the damaged part. Consequently, I was awakened by early morning light. This is a cheesy, unacceptable maintenance shortcut. I mentioned it to the front desk in hopes they will eventually fix it, but I didn't get the feeling it was a priority.
The onsite restaurant was ok, but not great if you want just a light bite. I had the potato leek soup, hold the caviar; it was very tasty, but not worth $24. I asked if they had a green salad, was told if you order a steak or something you can get a side salad. I guess that meant no, if I was just ordering soup. Also, they had some kind of heavy perfume in the lobby area, which wafted into the restaurant, and my husband was very sensitive to it, so we chose not to eat there again or spend any time in the lobby. We found a great restaurant a block away, The Smith, for breakfast and also had a pre-concert dinner there.
We've stayed in a lot of Kimpton hotels, this one was a bit disappointing, but adequate for a short stay and perfectly located for our concert.
Very good breakfast.
The proximity to cap one arena and the staff
It smelled like mold in our room and at 3pm we lightly played music to get dressed for dinner and immediately got a complaint, I’m 46 yrs old it was not that loud at all.
Poor experience at this hotel. The front desk staff were the worse I’ve ever encountered; extremely rude. Someone needs to remind them they are in the service industry. WiFi was non existent and was unfortunately there for a work trip. Rooms are ok but bathroom is very small. Could be cleaner as well. I would not stay again
Very confortalble, good position, perfect cleaned! Staff always available
Reccomended!
I stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, while the staff was always kind, helpful, and attentive to every need. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a pleasant stay. The location was also very convenient and strategic. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a positive experience and a place that truly feels like home.

The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing, and I truly felt well taken care of during my stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great experience and excellent service.
We had a great stay at Kimpton Hotel Monaco. We really appreciated the excellent location, the quality of the services, and the professionalism of the staff. Over time it has become our reference point in Washington, and we will definitely come back again. Highly recommended.
Location
The staff were disinterested and even rude. There was no one who actually seemed to care about the quality of our stay.
