This was one of the best hotel stays we have ever had. We had a garden room on the first floor, which was quiet but also very close to the pool. View was of the mountainside behind the resort---gorgeous. Communication prior to check in was quick and easy, the front desk staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome (Grazie, Rosella!) Breakfast was delicious! There were hot options daily along with pastries, yogurts and a variety of other foods. Coffee was made fresh however you liked and they offered to go cups with a fresh macchiato or cappuccino if you liked. We felt pampered and taken care of our whole stay and we were sad to say goodbye to such a beautiful resort but more so the kind staff. Ernesto and Denis greeted us by name every time we saw them and knew our coffee order by memory by the end of the trip. Best customer care I've received worldwide. If you can---stay for dinner! The restaurant was my husband's favorite meal of our time in Italy.
The view is amazing, but the staff was far from that. Our flight got changed in the middle of the night, and when we tried booking a cab through the front desk, they made us pay for both the new cab and the one scheduled for the original time. By the time the new cab arrived, we had no chance of making our flight.
They blamed the cab service but never told us there was a refund available. This hotel felt like a retirement-home cruise ship on land. The breakfast was terrible, and the first room we were given didn’t even have a window.
I would rather stay at a Motel 6 in the United States.
Restaurant, bar, zwembad
Mss een te klein bad/douche
Location was just a little too far out of Sorrento.
Our room was pretty average. The bathroom was tired and in need of some tlc / maintenance with average toiletries not what you expect from a 4 star.
The bar, pool and restaurant areas were lovely, clean and well maintained with friendly staff that were extremely helpful and welcoming.
Unfortunately there were a couple of reception staff that let this down as two ladies in particular were quite rude and not very welcoming at all.
Overall just not quite what you what you expect from a hotel of this price range.
We liked the amazing view and reckon it’s the best hotel positioning above Sorrento, because it’s out of town it’s lovely and quiet so you get the best of everything plus a free shuttle service taking you in and out. Also the hotel offer a booklet of excursions and everyone booked them so you are picked up at the hotel it was excellent and made everything so easy. The hotel also organised a transfer taxi to and from Naples it cost €140 but taxis are very expensive in this region
Limited facilities in the room, Only free water in the room the first day then had to buy from mini bar, only had 2 coffee and tea sachets in the room each day, we could of asked for more but kept forgetting. It didn’t alter our rating but could be improved for the class of hotel
One friendly lady who checked us in on the arrival evening. Great free shuttle bus, nice view and lovely pool. Good breakfast & dining room staff. The pool attendant was great!
The room was smaller than expected, had a view of a flat roof. The small balcony had two chairs and a table which were all cable-tied to the railings so couldn't be moved! There was no kettle in our room.....unheard of in a 4 star hotel in our experience! We were told if we wanted a kettle with tea/coffee it was for an extra charge, per night!
I asked if I could please have some hair conditioner as there was none with the shampoo and was given a flat NO, by reception.
Our double room was apparently an upgrade! It was not well maintained, the shower head was mounted so high the water sprayed over the top of the screen and soaked the bathroom.
The desk staff were abrupt and unhelpful.....the staff at the pool bar were not particularly friendly towards us when asking about drinks.
Just back from an amazing stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta, all the staff were very friendly and attentive, the room was spotless, and the food was great (we were half board). The shuttle bus into town was very handy, we used it every day. No entertainment on in the evening, but a great hotel, I hope to return.
The hotel is well positioned just up the hillside overlooking Sorrento, displaying lovely panoramic views across the bay.
There is a shuttle bus into town (and back) which is really helpful, as the taxi fares into town are around the 35 euro mark each way (even though it is just 3.5-4km away).
The pool is lovely and poolside is clean and tidy all the time. Staff are very friendly and helpful and can help book you a taxi to get to tour pickup points outside of the shuttle bus times if needed.
Rooms are clean, basic, but have tea/coffee facilities and TV.
The breakfast is plentiful and a mixture of cooked and pastries and cold meats/cheeses etc.
The only real niggle is the price of the drinks and also additional meals. Eg approx 10 euro per 2 drinks higher than the equivalents in town.
Just returned from 10 days in this fantastic hotel, want to say a huge thank you to Jean Franco and all his team for their patience and understanding. The wonderful reception staff, restaurant staff especially because they catered for my allergy, I was made to feel very special, the chefs who made special dishes just for me, all the bar staff and waiters, don't want to name specific individuals in any area of the service as they were all amazing, courteous and kind and extremely professional, I did have my favourites though! , not forgetting the cleaning staff and the lovely man at the pool area I've not received service like this before when I've holidayed, also the free courtesy bus service into Sorrento town was brilliant. Lovely views lovely pool, fabulous food, fabulous hotel fabulous holiday.
View from room and seating areas was incredible. Pool attendant was very attentive and worked with a smile.
Dinner menu could have accommodated some lighter options although all food was excellent. Bus shuttle service on return is a bonus but needed. Busy on return could be stressful.
Tan poético su nombre suena,
lejos del centro queda, cierto;
según del gusto es el acierto,
bien o mal que el viajero piense.
Cada hora una camioneta van convence,
lleva y trae sin precio puesto.
No es gran hotel, pequeño, cercano
a la norma sorrentina, claro;
moderno, estético y raro
se destaca por servicio galano,
profesional, equipo sano,
entrenado al gesto y al trato.
El desayuno, limitado,
queda corto frente al contexto;
si vienes a paz y descanso, esto
es lugar para tu recato.
Si solo duermes, sobra rato
de infraestructura y costo.
Nos ofrecieron, de repente,
un “upgrade” que sonó distinto:
habitación más amplia, el instinto
dijo bien, mas en edificio presente
a cien metros — ida y vuelta, pendiente—
no fue tan cool el trayecto extinto.
La pieza fue limpia, agradable,
cuidada en su estampa y aspecto;
buen baño y ducha, sin defecto,
cama cómoda, término razonable,
algo intermedio en lo blando, estable.
Todo en el hotel, caro en efecto.
La posición en la colina alta
regala un ocaso que no falla;
We have just returned from another wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta, and after 12 visits since first discovering this special place 24 years ago, we can honestly say it remains our favourite destination. We wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else.
Our connection with the hotel is a particularly personal one. We were married in Sorrento in 2006 and held our wedding reception at the Aninta, making it a place filled with treasured memories for us. Returning here always feels like coming home.
What makes this hotel so special is the people. Every single member of staff is outstanding – from the waiters and bar staff to the pool attendant, cleaners, front desk team and courtesy bus drivers. Everyone greets you with a smile, asks how you’re doing, and genuinely wants to make your stay perfect. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they simply can’t do enough for you. The fact that many of the same staff members are still there after all these years speaks volumes. Being welcomed back by familiar faces feels like returning to see old friends rather than checking into a hotel.
The setting is absolutely breathtaking. The views are spectacular, and the beauty of the surrounding area never fails to amaze us. We stayed in the villa Aminta which is set apart from the main hotel. Our room was luxurious with a private balcony overlooking lemon trees and with beautiful sea views. The 2 minute walk to the pool and main hotel through fragrant orange and lemon trees is a magical experience in itself. The walk down into Sorrento takes around 15 minutes and offers stunning views every step of the way, while the regular courtesy bus service makes getting in and out of town effortless.
The hotel is impeccably maintained. Everywhere is spotless, and the attention to cleanliness is second to none. The food is consistently excellent, with a fantastic choice of dishes and outstanding quality throughout our stay. The Aminta Special cocktail remains a firm favourite and is an absolute must-try.
The pool area is another highlight. The heated swimming pool is wonderful, and the separate jacuzzi area, with its incredible views towards Capri, is the perfect place to relax and soak up the scenery.
This visit was particularly meaningful as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We were touched to find beautiful flowers waiting for us on arrival – a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflects the warmth and care shown by this family-owned hotel.
The Aminta continues to set the standard for hospitality. Exceptional staff, stunning surroundings, immaculate facilities, delicious food and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere make every stay unforgettable. After 24 years of wonderful memories, including our wedding reception and now our 20th anniversary celebration, we can say without hesitation that this is a truly special place. We are already looking forward to visit number 13. Highly recommended.
Fantastic in all respects. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Pool area is great with no experience of sunbed hogging. People left their beds and disposed of towels when they had finished. Breakfast was excellent with fantastic choice of sweet and savoury. Dinner was superb and delicious with 4 courses if you wanted them. Starter, pasta , meat and dessert. Try the ones from the trolley! Room bright, spacious, comfortable and very clean. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Shuttle buses (free) solve the problem of being out of town.
Just back from a very enjoyable 11 night stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta. We stayed in a "Superior room with Balcony and Sunrise Sea View". The room was spotlessly clean with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. It was also well equipped, but minor negatives were that the balcony is quite small, and not particularly private, plus the shower cubicle had no screen or curtain. Turning to the hotel overall, the location is fantastic with a stunning panoramic view from the Island of Capri past Naples and Mount Vesuvius to the Sorrento Peninsula towns - wow ! The quality of the breakfast, lunch and bar snacks was first class with service to match. The dining room and poolside bar area are also very classily decorated. All of the hotel staff are most helpful and polite, including the poolside attendant who delivers towels and helps set up loungers and umbrellas. During our stay, the poolside areas and the (heated) pool itself were never that busy. The shuttle bus to and from Sorrento town centre is very useful and reliable, although we did occasionally walk into town which takes 15-20 minutes down narrow paths and steps (avoiding the main road with it's manic drivers). Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta and highly recommend this hotel. Note, however, that the prices of drinks is relatively high compared to bars and restaurants in town. But in our opinion, worth every cent for that view alone.
After arriving to a disappointing experience my wife posted on trip advisor, since then all issues were corrected very quickly and we have nothing but admiration for the staff and general manager who met with us privately, we were offered a room change which we declined but it was very much appreciated, the staff in both the reception and the bar and restaurant have been amazing and have gone out of their way make us happy, the food also is fabulous
Well first impressions really poor, been so looking forward to this stay our first ever time in Italy and very disappointed up to now, upon arrival greeted and given sufficient info, room booked, a superior with sea view, view fab, but small and dated insufficient hangers which were delivered upon request but were dusty and dirty so had to be given back to be cleaned and returned, safe didn't work and had to be replaced, very little in the way of plug sockets and room could have been cleaner with the toilet brush leaking on the floor, not good, however after complaining these things were corrected but this has after an awful long drawn out experience in Naples airport, left us tired cross and we just wanted to be given a lovely room without any issues, that didn't happen. Hoping after our evening meal tonight and a hopefully a good night's sleep things will seem better tomorrow 🤞
The property was beautiful! Excellent staff, dining was great!
Not in walking distance to city center but there is a hotel shuttle to town or taxi is an option
Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt!
