Comfort Suites Idabel

This hotel appears to be good in the photos but when we entered our room, we realized that it is an old property which was cheaply renovated. Paying $289 for 2 days appears to be too much for this. We immediately sprinted back to the lobby, told the receptionist that we did not like the room and would like to cancel the booking. She agreed on full refund and told us that it would take some time in getting the refunds. We then travelled to Texarnama which is just one hour away from this city and stayed in Hilton hotels for the same date and paid the same amount. At least we felt like it was worth the amount there.

Now when I called Booking.com, they are saying that they have not got any message from the property. I have tried reaching out to the property through Booking .com but no one is replying back to my messages. Till now not a single dollar is refunded.

It appears like its better to book directly at the reception than doing a reservation from Booking.com, at least then we know what we are getting.

It was in good location

A lot of remodeling was being done, ac leaking all over the floor. Very dangerous for me and my husband. Water on the floor is very dangerous on tile floors

Cleanliness. While I think the staff does the best they can, the building itself needs a deep clean. Air vents were covered in dust. Curtains were filthy. I won’t be staying here again.

The bathroom floor was sticky possibly with cleaning solution.

The bathroom sink clogs while taking a bath. There are some damaged portions too.

Building seemed to be under construction, but still clean.

Not many things, you can tell they have been in the process of renovating. The only thing I did not like is that the gentleman checking me in, did not ask for my drivers license. I’ve worked at a choice hotel for many years and it’s crucial that you really check the ID at check in.

We were told it was in the middle of construction. It also seemed like nobody was actively working on it. Rooms were touched up, but not complete… our room had missing baseboards, a crack the ceiling and a tub that didn’t drain properly while taking a shower. Overall, the room was clean the tile/hard floors seemed slippery from whatever they cleaned it with. The bed was comfy and clean.
It was difficult to get service anytime after the day crew left. Quite often the front desk was left unattended and we ended up having to stand around and wait for somebody to show up.
