First, we enjoyed our stay here.
There are only 2 reasons to stay here: 1. You like old, historic buildings and the quirkiness they provide; 2. You like the location of being in the midst of a very old section of town and directly on the Plaza. We, fortunately, enjoy both reasons.
If you are expecting luxury, high class amenities, attention to every detail of comfort, this is not your place.
We had a 2 room "suite". However, the first room was strangely equipped with one tv, two uncomfortable chairs, a wet bar, a table with a coffee pot, and a Murphy bed.
The second room, the actual bedroom, had a very comfortable bed, a tv, 2 nightstands, and a table. The window looked out on the wall of the next-door building.
Our room was quiet and we had a wonderful, rest night.
The bathroom was small, but very clean. There were plenty of towels, but only one wash cloth.
Both rooms were very clean and actually did not smell old and musty like some buildings of this age do.
The desk clerk was polite and friendly. Check in was easy as well as parking.
Because of the time of year, I think, most of the shops on the Plaza closed at 4p.m.
The restaurants nearby stayed open later.
Old town Taos is like stepping into another time, very unique.
New Taos is modern. They even have a What-a-Burger!
If you like Western history, Native American history and Mexican-American history, this is a great place to visit.
Went skiing with my wife. Hotel stay was comfortable and relaxing. Staff was helpful, parking nearby, and room was clean.
I went to a 1st cousins funeral. I grow up in Taos and never stayed at La Fonda. I enjoyed my stay, only thing there was no local channels from ABQ on the tv menu, so I went downtowns and have a few beers and enjoyed that. The owner of the restaurant did give me m condolence on my cousin passing away. A cousin died in October and I stayed at the Taos Inn, where they had better entertainment, yet La Fonda was also a treat to stay at.
Outstanding location and room!
Clear parking policy would be helpful. It wasn't clear if we would get ticketed for parking overnight on the plaza.
no breakfast offered. bed was very good. some of desk staff was excellent especially the night clerk in the early morning. lady in bar wednesday morning gave great information about food and coffee with conversation.
NO WIFI and mixed answers on length of problem from a couple of days to a few weeks. young woman behind the desk during check in had a filthy mouth. added cost of parking not expected with differing prices from desk personnel.
Love the location, coziness and daily housekeeping!
Location right in the heart of the plaza. Walking distance to most restaurants, the Smiths and several coffee shops. The staff were friendly and helpful. They had a sheet of places that were confirmed open on the holiday which was super useful.
Nothing much. There was some music from the restaurant that was rather loud on Thanksgiving but otherwise a good stay.
Location for sure. Size of room. Faux fireplace was pretty. Bed comfort. Friendly night staff
Worn carpeting in room.
This historic gem of a hotel has hosted many famous writers and illustrious people staying or frequenting this property is amazing a definite stop of history buffs! It’s cozy, comfortable, renovated-the staff is extremely helpful and accommodating-adding to an extraordinary stay one highly recommended to those whom love sleeping in history or not! Thank you 🙏🏼 Hotel La Fonda de Taos!
The historical building is very cool 😎
Smallest room I've ever rented
It’s historic full of cool history, cozy clean great staff accommodating, genuine & helpful!
This is small and based on personal tastes but the quilts on the bed don’t go with the feeling of the Southwest-I’m all about decor and picky! This didn’t detour from a great stay though!
Mary Bernadette welcomed us so warmly. Offering to help carry our bags, too. She invited us to ask her for anything we needed. The room was cute and comfy.
We liked everything!
Location and service and history
bathroom was a little dated and not enough counter space
very beautiful and nice place to stay
the bed was hard. use to a softer mattress i guess
All was just ok
Location, price, ambiance!
