Have an early flight from DCA so decided to spend a night near the airport and Hampton Inn seems to be one the less expensive options compared to several others almost right by the metro. But it's not much further, perfectly walkable about a third of a mile although in the snow with luggage a bit tricky. It's a nice looking property with modern decor as Hampton Inns go. Check in not the fastest but ok. We had a studio which was very spacious, especially the bathroom area. Only problem is there is only one chair. Also room lighting not very bright - the desk lamp by the chair is not bright enough to read by - ended up moving the chair into the very well lit bathroom/closet area in order to read. Other than that the room overall is not bad, comfy bed (pillows could be firmer), temps good and the heating unit not too noisy. And most importantly very clean. Location is good - lots of restaurants within walking distance - Peter Chang's Nihao is one of our favorites - and two Whole Food markets.
One other thing to improve - the free airport shuttle doesn't start till 4:30 am, which for some flights that depart at 6 am is a bit late if you are the type of traveler who like to get to the airport early and not feel rushed.
The hotel was clean and convenient. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. On-site parking was more than we wanted to pay, but at least it was convenient. Fresh fruit ran out quickly at breakfast and was not replenished.
This property is a nice alternative, compared to staying in downtown DC. We really appreciate the fact that the hotel will hold luggage in a secure room before/after check-in/check-out. The staff is courteous, and the hotel itself is kept very clean.
Our only complaint is breakfast. It’s a complete zoo! The breakfast staff and the two hotel elevators simply cannot keep up with the demand of the hundreds of people eating breakfast in the lobby area. Each day, they were out of multiple food options. Then, we had to walk up nine flights of stairs and still easily beat other people waiting in line to get on the elevator going to the same floor.
No complaints with room or service. We had more than enough space. Breakfast was good overall. Service team there was execellent, Main issues with this hotel, is only one elevator is working, which for a hotel this size is somewhat ridiculous. Lines to get into elevator formed going up/down each morning. There is another elevator, but they are "upgrading", although no-one seemed to be working on it. Other issue is that there really isn't enough seating for breakfast prime hours. We avoided for most part by going early or bringing food to room. We did wait for long time for shuttle from airport as well
We’ve stayed here multiple times in the past with this being our final time due to this stay. Most of the issues stem from faulty equipment and common amenities that you pay for in the cost of the stay ( 1700.00 for 4 nights).
I will begin with front desk, the manager seemed disconnected from the front desk, glued to his computer monitor. One of the elevators was not working so that left cramming a full capacity hotel into one elevator with a 8 person capacity. We called the front desk Saturday early evening for 2 more wash cloths and toilet paper, but never received them after waiting 3 hours, I had to hunt down the house keeping cart for those items. The housekeeping staff once you found them was helpful.
The room/ bathroom were clean for the most part, unfortunately the blinds were broken and did not work fully or not at all. The safe didn’t work the display would not come on so the safe is useless.
Last but not least the breakfast was horrible 2 out of 3 mornings, egg-omelette thing had cheese wiz running out of it and french toast sticks that you couldn’t cut with the plastic knives they have available. They ran out of Bagels and wasn’t replaced with a substitute.
Next time I decide to book I will have a difficult time picking a Hampton Inn.
At crunch time got a rate I couldn’t refuse at a high rated hotel - was easy to book. Had a marathon run next day. It was soft sheets and a good nights sleep.
Clean room nice staff. However parking fees are expensive to park in the garage. But all in all it was a pleasant experience
Excellent location within walking distance of restaurants & a short bike ride from Pentagon Mall, super friendly staff and very clean room with great water pressure.
Last minute booking due to flight delays. Very nice hotel. Shuttle to and from airport was great.
Ideal place to stay if you are planning to visit capitol, White House, etc.
Room clean air conditioning ok gym n/a
Kind & Helpful Desk. Good breakfast!
Initially the room safe wasn’t working. I called front desk and they send someone to fix it right away.
Overall the experience was good. However we resuested towels on our secomd day of stay, but did not receive them after being told housekeeping would bring thdm right up.
Staff was courteous, friendly, efficient and always helpful. First room had no water pressure. Given a new room which was fine but safe didn't work (probably bad battery). Rooms were clean. Slept very well. Having one elevator was not good. Breakfasts were okay and liked the variety. Cooks and staff were great. Having restaurant row close and walkable was convenient. Metro and Mall was also an easy walk. Shuttle and driver a plus. I would come back.
Great location
Great location. Close to restaurants and Metro to get into Washington DC
Nice
Clean property but very expensive
Excellent location, predictably pricy, so-so breakfast. But the thing that makes me give a mediocre review is that housekeeping is done "every four days." Now I don't care if the sheets get changed or the towels changed out. But I would at least like the trash to be taken out (smelly banana peels anyone?) and the coffee and paper cups to be replenished. It seems a bit much to have to go down to the front desk to request extra supplies each evening.
