Pros:

Me ha parecido genial, buenas instalaciones, y todas disponibles. Bufet de desayuno estupendo, parking y todas las facilidades por parte del personal.

Todo perfecto, ellos no pueden mejorar el tiempo, que no tuvimos mucha suerte.

Kaikki toimi ja palvelu oli erinomaista.

Another fabulous stay
Pros:

This was our second stay and it felt like coming home. It's a lovely hotel with comfortable sofa'd areas. The outside terrace, where drinks and bar snacks can be purchased throughout the day is relaxing too. The Captains bar is the evening hub, particularly for happy hour between 5-6pm. Our standard room was spotless as ever, comfortable and a good size. (No iron sadly). The balcony, with table & chairs, caught the sun of an afternoon and overlooked the park. (See my other note). Breakfast in the restaurant was always well organised with plenty of choice on the buffet. We dined in the restaurant only one evening during our stay and enjoyed the three course al la carte menu. Celebrating my birthday at Portobay was made extra special by the delivery of a bottle of sparkling wine on ice and a card from the management. A thoughtful, kind touch. Don't miss the roof terrace which offers great views, comfy seating and a hot tub. To conclude the hotel has a fabulous location... Right on the sea front and mere steps from the lively old town with a great choice of restaurants & bars. Highly recommended.

Cons:

The standard rooms overlook the municipal park, so it can on occasions be noisy. However, the very same park is also full of lively characters which can add to the spirit and character of Funchal, so not all bad.
Outside Pool way too cold for us, so we've never used it.

Die Lage ist optimal, sehr freundliches Personal.
Frühstück ist mangelhaft - einfallslos und immer gleich. Dosenfrüchte, Stangenkäse und billigster Toastschinken sollte es bei einem Haus dieser Klasse nicht geben. Die Wellnessanlage im Keller haben wir nicht benützt da sie uns trotz Schlechtwetter nicht angesprochen hat..

Best hotel in Madeira
Pros:

Best choice of hotel with respect to location. The old town is a few steps away with plenty of restaurants. Rooms are very comfortable with a balcony and sea view.
The room had even a small nook for making tea and coffee with a coffee maker and even included a small cooking top with cutlery for preparing basic meals. Staff were pleasant and made you feel at home. Good shuttle service to the airport.

Cons:

The restaurant was a disappointment. We only went one time for a seafood night. Two seafood dishes to choose from with dry fish nuggets and tasteless sauce. Would recommend to eat at some of the restaurants nearby instead. We enjoyed exquisite sea food at the Marisqueria restaurant only a few steps from the hotel.
