The location, our room and the overall ambiance.
The location was great - close to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful - they gave us a discount because the hot water heater died and moved us to another room in a building with hot water.
The hot water heater broke the first morning we were there. It was fixed later that day, but was broken again the next morning. The shower in our first room had very low pressure. The breakfast had very few options.
The hotel is right in the heart of Ashland - walkable to all the little shops and cafes. It is beautifully landscaped, lovely trees and the creek running by. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was standard fare, but good. Any staff we ran into were friendly and helpful. Appreciated the dinner coupon:)
Wish the deck didn't have such a high wall - couldn't even see over it:(
Great room in annex, but NOT what we booked, no balcony.
Breakfast was great.
Location fabulous.
Room not what we booked.
No elevator in annex.
Checkin staff overcharged us for pet fee, which we had thought was already included in our booking reservation.
Location good; Quiet, free parking on site.
Buffet Breakfast had small selection, but food was good.
Light not working near closet and coffee/refrigerator so hard to see AM and evening.
Extra blanket dirty.
Pillows flat/lumpy.
The room and linens were lovely. Quiet, and they gave us a coupon for a local eatery, and that was nice. We could walk there, and it was dog-friendly.
The facility is a bit old-fashioned. The carpets had quite a bit of leaves/flowers on them. The cable tv is about 20 years out of date. We did find something but punching in codes and numbers for each station is a very old system.
The location is excellent and the facilities are lovely.
The beds are slightly soft for my taste. I prefer a really firm bed. But it was better than most hotels.
Spacious room and good breakfast. Walking distance from the downtown.
Great location. Beautifully maintained.
More fruit at breakfast.
Would have like granola/ more fresh fruit/ yoghurt choices.
What would have been a very average trip for us—just an overnight stay at the old hotel with poor service and unfriendly staff—turned into a terrible experience because of the attitude of the manager and staff. We brought our service animal to breakfast, and she immediately yelled at my wife, saying no pets were allowed. We explained that she is a service animal, but she continued to insist that the local health department did not permit service animals in her restaurant. My wife was embarrassed by all the yelling and simply walked back to the room with our service animal, but I stayed behind and pointed out the law—the federal law—that states there are no exemptions, even if local or state rules say otherwise, which I highly doubt this hotel respects. I confronted the manager, but her attitude and policies changed her stance, and she then claimed that our dog was jumpy, which was completely untrue. While waiting for breakfast, we looked at the food—soggy bacon and overcooked eggs—and decided to check out and leave. This could have just been a no-review kind of stay, a quick stopover on our way back, but of course, the manager ensured we left with this detailed account.
Clean, nice classical style, great location, hot tub on patio right outside my door (#239).
Liked it a lot, bed was comfortable but pillows were hard. Maybe use a variety.
